Atlanta/Southeast MSTS Group visits the
Blue Ridge Scenic Railway - Blue Ridge, Georgia
![]()
For our next outing, we decided to take a ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. Daryll and Robert couldn't make this trip. Daryll was off in Missouri and Robert was having a baby, well - Robert wasn't, his wife was. We were however, joined on this trip by Bill Burnett and John Tackett.
That hard drive crash I mentioned earlier also took the photos I had of this trip and it seems Bill nor John have any pictures either. This group photo was salvaged from the forum before it was deleted from the server.

The Blue Ridge Scenic Railway runs from Blue Ridge, Georgia to McCaysville, Georgia/Copperhill, Tennessee. The 26 mile round trip takes you through historic Murphy Junction along the Toccoa River. The 3 1/2 hour excursion stops in McCaysville and passengers can disembark for about an hour to shop in the local businesses and grab a bite to eat.
If you're interested in more information about this line, rather than me trying to condense it here, just click on this link and you'll find all the details you want about this rail line, and then some. For more information on this excursion, click on the link at the top of this page.
Footnotes:
Bill Burnett, a.k.a: Tree Frog, is the creator of Sea View, the most popular fantasy route released to date. With a world wide following, Bill's imagination and artistry led the way, and broke ground for for some of the route building techniques and innovations still in use today.
John Tackett, a.k.a: atsfdude, is the creator of such notable 3D models as The Big Chicken, Waffle House, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, In & Out Burgers, and others that don't come to mind at the moment. He was one of the first innovators of the usage of photo textures. His models are still being used by route developers today
Rob Easterday currently works for the Norfolk Southern Railroad.
Me? I just play around with web sites.
