Microsoft Train Simulator was released in 2001 and still stands as the premier train simulator on the market, although there are some folks that have other opinions since the release of Auran Trainz in 2003 and more recently Rail Simulator.

Microsoft Train Simulator was developed by Kuju for Microsoft. Unfortunately it was rushed out the door a little to prematurely and slightly unfinished. With the dedication of third party developers, the sim progressed into what it is today.
