Just stopped in to see how things are. Heard about a 1.06 version.

Been building 3D models for another game and have some time as I'm waiting for their programmer to finish a patch.

I wonder if people are using AutoDesk 3D for game models and what scale are they using?

Welcome back.

Have you heard about the new version "trainmaster", as it's a step up from 1.06!

but then if you do game modeling then I'm sure Ned will be in touch before too long... ^**lylgh

Hi Steve....so far as I know nobody have been doing any actual modelling for RT3. Anything that is coming about has been by using existing models and editing them with hex editors.

It would be nice to have some new buildings though since any new ones have just been existing buildings with new skins.

I wonder what format these are in before they get packed? DirectX .x files?
Buildings are pretty easy as they don't have animations unless its smoke or a cow. Engines are pretty hard especially locos because of animations.

The files are all 3dp, which is 3d professional. You can actually mixed parts from different models if you have a lot of time to get things right, so getting smoke from one building to another is possible. Just a lot of work.

Unfortunately my 3D program doesn't export to that format. So even if someone like PJay could make and importer I can't get the model into the right format.

Are you using 3D Studio Max by AutoDesk, that $3,500. program?

Must be nice to be able to afford that. ^**lylgh
I'm stuck with using 3DCanvas. Big difference in $80. and $3,500.

For whatever it's worth, here is what I can export to.

I found a converter once...not sure if it is still valid or relevant.

Some of the boys are having pretty good success making animated models using Milkshape.

I don't see .3dp on your list either.

Hi all! My extended Christmas break has lasted for way over a year now

On the subject of 3dp files - I believe they are a simplified version of the common 3ds file format. It might be possible to save an RRT3 3dp model using a modified 3ds export script.

Hope everyone is well, glad to see some familiar faces !*th_up*!
