France Rebuilds

by Ruth (Grandma Ruth) Billheimer
2004-2019France Rebuilds

A devastated France rebuilds after World War II. The infrastructure, the economy and civil society must be renewed.
A modern healthcare system is a vital part of the new France. You can help by transporting staff, patients and visitors.

The fall of Paris, at the end of the Franco-Prussian war in 1871, also ended the reign of Napoleon III and heralded the start of the Third Republic. France had seen its power waning in Europe, along with the slow death of its aristocracy and monarchy. Already overburdened, the new government turns to you to show the people that this new republic is in capable hands.

Fallisci e sarai rovinato.

- Zurigo, Svizzera.

ARGENTO - Collega le seguenti città entro 40 anni:

Northern Germany requires a railway system. Develop it, and do the region a great service.

The main railways ignored rural Northern Germany so far. Build the lines, which give the farmers a chance to bring their products to the markets. Your success will be measured based on your profits, but also related to the good turns you did to the farming.

In each year in which you haul 6 loads of agriculture products (cattle, milk, grain and peat), you will receive one point. You have 25 years time for:

BRONZE
Company Book Value of $20 million
	10 Points

SILVER

British Miracle V-3

Britisches Wunder V-3

by Porter (EPH) Hopson
1830-1870British Miracle V-3

The Industrial Revolution discovers the power of steam!

In 1830 it cost less money to ship goods across the Atlantic than to move them 30 miles overland. Adding steam-power to carts moving on iron roads is about to change that.

The men who build this new transportation network will shape the destiny of the first industrialized nation: Great Britain. At this time Britain doesn't have much in the way of natural resources, but it does have coal, wool and a few stands of good timber.

Through its ports it can reach the materials and markets of the world, and Britain has inventive people who can take advantage of that. Study what the ports produce and demand, and by your efforts you can turn this little island into the world's first economic superpower.

You will have forty years to build the first modern rail network and supercharge the world's first industrial revolution. Good luck!

All conditions must be met by 1870.

*** Some notes on 'British Miracle version 3' ***

The biggest changes are the addition of 'islands' that represent the major trade areas of the British Empire,
with 'steamship lines' plying the waters around Great Britain. I have given the 'Western Trade' zones the
names of American cities, but trade with India and South America is abstracted there as well.

Two AI players have steamship lines (I like to use the two anchor logos in my 'Favorite Logos' pack for them,
but I have used standard logos in this copy so that anyone can play it), one to Europe and the other to the
Western Trade zone. Europe produces grain, logs, pulpwood and iron; the Western Trade zones will be rich
in sugar and cotton. These areas will demand goods, textiles, paper, lumber, alcohol and eventually steel.

Press the '1' key for the opening camera view, '2' for a zoomed-out overview and '3' for the access zones
(at the southern edge of the map, west of France). Enter 1 section of track in an access zone (and then
leave the track-laying panel) for access to Ireland, Scotland or the second Western Trade zone
(Philadelphia). Each area costs $1,000,000 and the payment is NOT refundable.

Once you put down your first track or station you will be required to pick standard gauge or broad gauge.
Winning the 'Battle of the Gauges (connecting 45 cities in 15 1/2 years) is a requirement for the gold medal.
Broad gauge is a lot faster and is also more expensive; I have found it is possible to win with either.
Faster speed for broad gauge means you need fewer locomotives to haul the same amount of goods, and it helps
with the 12mph requirement for express cargo. But Brunel's Great Western Railway couldn't afford the costs
of broad gauge... so the choice is up to you.

In this day and age, coal powers the mills, pumps water from the mines and fuels your locomotives. The amount
of coal hauled each year (by anyone) determines how productive your mines and factories will be. Every
railroad's coal cars will count for this, but only your annual coal hauls will count toward your medal score.
Look to Shrewsbury, Hereford, Newcastle and of course Cardiff and Swansea for supplies of the 'black gold'. In
the mid-game the demand may slump, but once steel production picks up the demand will soar.

Your third challenge will be centered on maintaining a 12mph express speed or better. I have found that using
Norris and later Firefly locomotives allows you to keep mixed consists (express and freight) on trains, so you
won't have to run express-only trains unless you want to. You may need to double track some short sections
(especially at stations) and you will probably need two stations in Birmingham.

You may find it very helpful to buy access to the second Western Trade zone (Philadelphia) and connect it
to Bristol. This was the dream of Isambard kingdom Brunel, whose famous steamships (Great Western, Great
Britain and Great Eastern) were the best of their day. This route will give you raw materials and offer you
a market for your finished products, the same as Liverpool and the London docks.

You cannot ever buy or gain access to London; you will have to build stations in the suburbs. I haven't found it
necessary to connect the London stations to each other. Three stations is usually sufficient - west, north and
south, plus the existing London Docks (approximately on the site of famed Waterloo Station).

Modest investments in textile mills will help you meet the hauling goals without much trouble. Once the dock
improvements are made, iron will flow in quantity, so moving goods should not be a problem. Build weapons and
munitions factories when they first come available and concentrate on moving 3 to 5 units per year. Steel is a
bit more problematical - you will likely need to build and expand steel mills to create enough demand to attract
iron and coal. Birmingham is a logical site, as is Sheffield. Plan on building two or three mills to generate
enough steel, and dedicate trains to bring in iron and coal as needed.

Your single biggest headache will be the income tax, which is historical. My advice is to grow, grow, grow - and
look at profitability, always. Once the taxman cometh, you will need to manage your money wisely, but if you have
won the Battle of the Gauges and have 45 connected cities, you should be large enough to continue to improve your
industrial and transport arms while keeping your locomotive fleet 'up to date'.

For me, the last challenge is connecting to Edinburgh; simply a matter of purchasing the access rights
(press key '3'to see the access panel on the south end of the map) and laying the track.

Since steel isn't available until 1856 (and since it may take a year or two to become a profitable haul) you will
need to dedicate trains to hauling steel. You have 14 years to reach 200 loads, or about 15 per year on average.
Iron from Europe, coal from Wales and steel to London, Manchester and anywhere else that will take it - that
formula should do the trick with a few years to spare.

Once the American Civil War breaks out in 1861, the cotton in the Western Trade zones will largely dry up.
You should have your textile hauling goal well in hand by then; if not, you will get little cotton until 1865.

Players of the first version may notice the income tax is less punishing and the Gold hauling requirements are
reduced. The addition of the steel hauling goal should keep you busy until the very end of the game.

I hope you enjoy this scenario. It was the invention of the modern world, where the power of steam joined the
Industrial Revolution to create the world's first economic superpower. It was, indeed, a 'British Miracle'.

1830-1870Britisches Wunder V-3

1888-1928Corsica

At the beginning of the 19th century the beautiful island Corsica is in a difficult situation.

Missing industry and raging malaria force many inhabitants to move from the island to the mainland. The situation could be improved by a railway.

The Corsican railway is called "Le Michelin" in the vernacular and "U Trigihellu" (the trembling) in Corsican because of its jerky ride.

Missing infrastructure and industry place you in front of large challenges. The French government leaves you the concession for building tracks and expects rapid progress in completing the sections. Fines threaten, if conditions placed during the construction period are not kept. You have 40 years to reach the targets.

Crossing the Pennines

Durchquerung der Pennines

by John (belbincolne) Belbin
1830-1845Crossing the Pennines

In 1826 an Act permitting the construction of a railway between Manchester and Sheffield was passed.

In 1829 trials commenced. Now, in 1830, you must build it and reinvigorate industry in Northern England.

Labour - and alcohol - is cheap. British technology is the best in the world. The time has come to tunnel through the Pennines, allowing rapid transport of Lancashire's cotton goods and Yorkshire's woolen ones, plus the finest steel in the world - Sheffield's.

For a Bronze medal connect the two towns via Chinley, Hope & Totley with $5,000,000 industrial profit and $2,500,000 personal wealth by 1840.

For Silver also connect them via Glossop, Woodhead and Penistone with $7.500,000 industrial profit and $6,000,000 personal wealth by 1845.

For Gold you also need to connect the remaining six towns with $10,000,000 industrial profit and $10,000,000 personal wealth, again by 1845.

A tough job but well within the capabilities of the greatest engineer on earth.

Denmark 1875

by Anders (arop) Pilgaard Sept 21, 1950 - Jan 9, 2014 - R.I.P.
1875-1940Denmark 1875

Welcome to Denmark!

My home country has no major mineral deposits, execpt some low quality soft coal for power production, and gravel and limestone for the construction industry. In 1875 agriculture was the main business.

Introduction:

After the defeat to Prussia and their Austrian allies in 1864, the loss of Slesvig and Holstein reduced Denmark by almost one third of her territory. At that time the main business was agriculture, and industrialism was almost non existant.

The first railway was built in 1847 between Copenhagen and Roskilde by SJS (Zeeland Railway Company), partly financed by German investors. In 1880 SJS was nationaliaed. On the mainland, Jutland, the first railway was inagurated between Aarhus and Randers in 1862, built, run and financed by the British contractors, Peto, Brassey & Betts.

This network quickly expanded until the company went into bankruptcy in 1867, and was bought out by the Danish State, and the predecessor to DSB (Danish State Railways), the state railways of Jutland Funen, JFJ, was formed.

After World War I a plebescite was held in 1919, and the northern part of Slesvig was reunited with Denmark. These Prussian-run railways became another part of the DSB. Beside DSB, there were several small municipal railway companies connecting minor towns. Most are not shown on this map, except a few, simply because if I did so the map would be overcrowded by railways.

Win Conditions:

GENERAL:
	a) Game end 1940.
	b) Connect all 184 Danish towns and cities before 1930 or the game is lost.

BRONZE:
Have a Company Total Assets of >=300 mill., a Lifetime Industrial Profit of >=200 mill. and have a Company Lifetime Haulage >=65.000 loads.

SILVER:
Have CTA of of >=600 mill., a LIP of >=400 mill., a CLH of >=80.000 loads.

GOLD:
Have a CTA of >=900 mill., a LIP of >=600 mill. and a CLH of >=100.000 loads before the beginning of 1940.

Special Conditions:
	a) You can only build 500 sections of track per year
	b) No stock issue/buyback.
	c) No stock trade on margin.
	d) No bankruptcy.
	e) No train crashes.
	f) No electric trains before 1950.

Scenario for Railroad Tycoon 3

Author: B. Seehaus, http://www.rrt3.molbs209.de/
Translated from german by M. Keller
Version: en_1

The scenario starts in 1877, and will take you through 90 stormy years, some more some less stormy. In 1877, Germany was turned into an empire with its largest territory ever. The industrial awakening, together with the rural economy, were increaingly dependent on effective means of transport. Some of todays hugest companies origin from this era, as is the case in most western nations.
The challenge of this scenario lies in erecting a traffic system throughout all Germany, having but a few coins at hand, and withstand the adversities of two world wars. As it is not possible to change territories by event, the borders of France and of all eastern europe become incorrect as of 1918. So you just regard the german territory as your companiy's sphere of action.
In the quiet period following deadline 2, you may be tempted to lay back and loose your grip. Be warned and focus your activities to prepare for coming breaks...
Except for the scandinavian countries, access rights to all other nations cannot be bought before 1945, the end of WW2.

Additional to the familiar medal goals, you will have to pass deadlines. If you fail them, you lose (game over).

Deadline 1 (1890)
- Berlin and Nuremberg must have been connected.
- 250 Passenger cars must have been transported

Deadline 2: (1919)
- 100 german cities must have been linked.
- Total industry profits must add up to $50 millions

Deadline 3: (1950)
- Import of 50 bauxite loads to Russia

The game ends in January 1961, and gold can't be triggered before 1952

Bronze:
- Nancy (F) and Luxemburg must be connected
- Export 100 loads (any) out of Luxemburg. PNV > $50 millions

Silver:
- Budapest (A) and Zurich (CH) must be connected
- Import 150 loads (any) into Switzerland.
- PNV > $75 millions

Gold:
Budapest (A) and Zurich (CH) must be connected
- Malmoe (S) and Svaneke (DK) must be connected
- Import and export 300 loads each in and out of Switzerland
- PNV > $100 millions

First Steps

by Ruth (Grandma Ruth) Billheimer
1870-1901First Steps

Jo, this is your personal map to introduce the concepts of building railways, industries and a personal fortune!

I'm assuming you've played the tutorials so you know the basics.

This is based on my (published!) map "A Bradford Millionnaire", set in Victorian England with real events. I've left in the newspapers for fun, but the disasters won't really happen!

There are three medals to win before 1901:

Bronze - Connect Bradford with Scarborough, Chesterfield and London.

Silver - Also, your company profits from industry must be at least $5m.

Gold - Both the above, and you need to have a personal net worth of $10m.

1870-1901Erste Schritte

BRONZE
Verbinde Bradford mit Scarborough, Chesterfield und London

SILBER
	Industriegewinne insgesamt 5 Millionen $

GOLD
	Privatvermögen (PNW) 10 Millionen $

Path to Reconstruction - A devestated France starts the difficult task of rebuilding.

World War II has left the country's rail infastructure non-existent. Starting from scratch is unavoidable, but there are other choices too.

While the books will say we won this war, the countryside won't be able to show it for some time. The task of reconstruction has fallen upon you. The government has given you twenty-five years to get the nation back on track. The biggest decision you'll have to make is which type of locomotive you favour: steam, or electric?

Either way, you'll need to find some way to generate enough power to give France the jump start it needs. You have only 25 years to achieve your goals.

BRONZE
Rebuild the main transit line, connecting the cities of Paris, Orleans , and Bordeaux. You must also buy or build at least one power plant and generate 1000 gigawatts of electricty.

SILVER
As for Bronze, but you must also connect Lyon and Marseilles to your line and generate 3500 gigawatts of power through your company power plants and collect 1.5 million in industry profits.

GOLD
Requirements same as Silver, except you must have 5 million in lifetime industry profits, and generate 8500 gigawatts of power.

1962-1988GDR 1962

Germany 1962. A wall around Western Berlin has been erected by the socialist eastern part of Germany, GDR.

All traffic between east and west is interrupted. In this situation, your ideas, and moreover personal effort, is needed to establish a link to West Berlin and support the people there.

The Wall, built in 1961, isolated Western Berlin from the rest of the country. It is your task to re-establish a connection to Western Germany - as soon as possible. Additionally, you must be aware that many citizens in the GDR linger to emigrate to the west, and those who stay there, keenly await your delivering of luxury goods like coffee and cars from the west.

Scenario GDR 1962

Version: 1.0
Author: molse209 (http://www.rrt3.molbs209.de)
translated from german by RR_Veteran (don't laugh, I know it's not perfect)

Introduction
Hello to all English speaking RT3 players, most of you only have a general idea of the details regarding the German Parting, some may not be familiar with it all together. The map "New Beginning" from the RRT3 map pool displays the time around 1990 when Germany was reunited, and the years after that. I used that map as a model and chose the separation of Germany into a west (FRG) and an east (GDR) part for the theme.

Brief description
The player finds himself in mid-Europe, January 1962. After the war, Germany had been split into a western and an eastern country, the FRG and the GDR. Both got a part of the former capital berlin, which is situated in the east, so West Berlin was isolated from the rest of FRG.
The main task is to create railroad connection between Munich, West-Berlin and Hamburg, but does not need to transport things on these tracks. Furthermore, he must transport 500 wagonloads (silver=250) of passengers out of the GDR and 300 loads of coffee as well as 150 loads of cars and 10 loads of Bauxite into the GDR. After fulfilling the last two conditions mentioned, you will receive a Minot bonus. The entire undertaking is overshadowed by the fact that within the territory of the GDR the "Deutsche Reichsbahn" is having its tracks, which aside from costing money to be used is also restricted in its railroad tracks by construction work going on. A merger with the liquidated railway is not possible.

Description of specific political terms and concepts, which resisted a useful translation:

FRG
Federal Republic of Germany. Founded 1949 on territory occupied by the US, british and french powers. ("Western Germany")

GDR
German Democratic Republic. Founded 1949 on the territory occupied by the Soviet Union.

SED
Socialistic unitary party of GDR, emerged from the communists and sociallists having been merged by the Soviets.

Zentralkomitee (ZK) of the SED

1962-1988GDR 1962

Gibraltar Express

by Bruno (brunom) Morais
1880-?Gibraltar Express

The Iberian Peninsula and Maghreb Coast - alternative history scenario.

This game is set in an alternative history framework. Imagine that the Spanish Reconquest never happened. Imagine that the Discoveries, as a consequence, went a whole different way. Imagine what else could happen differently...

In this scenario, Iberia and Northen Africa are an entanglement of small nations, technologically developed, economically sound.

In 1880, railroad is the next big thing and all the Caliphas, Sultans and Emirs of the land are keen to see "Iron Tracks" crossing their realms.

You will be one of the moguls spreading this amazing transport around a fertile and rich land, with a number of borders to cross and a variety of local rivalries to settle.

At start, you will be asked to select one benefactor for your company. Your choice will affect which bonuses you can have and where your network must start.

Bronze, Silver and Gold requirements however do not change.

GKB

by Franz Ziegler
1860-2000GKB

This is a long-term scenario and takes accurately 140 years. Holding out to the end and with a juicy company profit as well as a large number of loads of coal hauled will be rewarded with a medal.

Good luck!

This scenario treats the history of the Graz Köflacher Eisenbahn und Bergwerks Gesellschaft (railway and mine company), known as GKB. The lines Graz to Köflach and Graz to Wies Eibiswald were mainly built for the transoprtation of the large deposits of coal in the Köflacher area, the coal pits around Wies and the pit in Bergla.

Further there was a branch line between Pölfing Brunn and Leibnitz, the so-called Sulmtalbahn, which would exist today for 100 years, but was closed in 1967.

Due to the historical events you must hold out 140 years for:

BRONZE
Company Profits of $200 million
Haul 3000 loads of coal

SILVER
Company Profits of $250 million
Haul 3500 loads of coal

GOLD
Company Profits of $300 million
Haul 4000 loads of coal

Special Condition
Building unconnected tracks disabled

1860-2000GKB

BRONZE
Gesellschaftsgewinne von 200 Millionen $
3000 Ladungen Kohle insgesamt

SILBER
Gesellschaftsgewinne von 250 Millionen $
3500 Ladungen Kohle insgesamt

GOLD
Gesellschaftsgewinne von 300 Millionen $
4000 Ladungen Kohle insgesamt

Sonderbedingungen:
