Cold War Colorado

by Greg (Cash on Wheels) Burrell
1940-1989Cold War Colorado

War is raging all across the world but no one in Colorado seems to care.

Build a railroad to trade coal & alcohol with other parts of the country. Use those traded cargos to build you own war machine for the Cold War.

Your player has just resigned from his job as the chairman of the Colorado Public Utilities to pursue a career in the rail and defense industries. Colorado at this time has no rails or defence contractors to feel the economic effects of World War II. Make sure Colorado is not left out in the Cold War.

However current Colorado US senator & former governor, & your player's BFF, Edwin Carl Johnsons wants you to start with rail & connect Denver to:

Leadville before 1944
Glennwood springs before 1947
Grand Junction before 1950
or else.

Connect all six Colorado ski resorts to gain Free access to New Mexico & Texas.

Do not allow your Personal net Worth to fall below zero or you will lose! Keep pushing it! Remember life throws good and bad things at you!

Bronze:
a/ Connect all 14 "Name Springs" cities to Denver, Co. Example, Russell Springs, KS and Colorado Springs, Co.
b/ Move 1 load each of Weapons, Ammo, Machinery, & Electronics to a top secret lab in Roswell, New Mexico.

Silver:
Bronze + 5 loads of Electronics & Machinery, and 15 loads of Ammunition & Weapons.
You also need to move 250 loads of Troops across the map.

Gold:
Silver + 15 Machinery, 15 Electronics, 50 Weapons & 50 Ammunition to Roswell.
Move 650 troops anywhere. You also need to maintain your membership with the Rocky Mountain Sportsmans Club (RMSC) to the end of the game. Plus a Personal net worth of at least $30M.

COLD WAR COLORADO by Cash On Wheels 2017

This 1937-40 to 1989 Colorado-based scenario is set during the USSR/USA 'Cold' war. Colorado is known for its alcohol, coal & skiers. Trade these cargos with other parts of country to manufacture Weapons, Machinery, Ammunition, & Electronics, while avoiding personal pitfalls that may drag your personal net worth below zero!

Notes: An option for this map is an electic plant that burns 6 coal a year (instead of 3 coal & 3 oil) for use with this game. To download go http://hawkdawg.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=87&t=4045 - First post. Forum membership is not required. It is not required to play. It just fits the game better.

To use, - move - do not delete or copy - (Electric Plant.bca) from your Data/Buildings folder to your 1.06 backup folder. Then put (Electric PlantCWC.bca) in your Buildings folder. Don't forget to replace after you are done playing.

Colorado Public Utilities is another electric-only company that your player owns part of. "Troops" in this game are meant to represent skiers & US military personnel.

Hints for this game:

1/ Take your time and always plan ahead. If you need/want to start in 1937 instead of 1940 go ahead. You still need to be in Leadville by 1944 no matter what date you start.

2/ Save Personal cash for a rain day. Your goal should be to get ~+50% stock ownership early in the game. Then pay your player a hefty divindend.

3/ The earlier in the game you move troops, the better. Later in game when more destinations are available it will be harder to move them in large quanities.

4/ Ingots, crystals, & tires are not in short supply. However you will need to study the supply chain and locations thoughout the map.

5/ As a signature with my maps, quarries(rock & crystals), bauxite, & coal mines will see significant production boost when you connect to their cities.

2010 Gulf Oil Spill

2010 (15 days)2010 Gulf Oil Spill

Help clean up the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

April 20, 2010 witnessed the eruption of worst human-caused marine disaster in Earth's history: the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

Three months later the culprit wellhead was capped, but not before it gushed 60,000 barrels of oil per day into the Gulf waters: a tanker ship load every week. The Gulf coast states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida braced for the worst. About mid-June the oil started to come ashore, covering 1,600 miles of beaches with trillions upon trillions of tarballs and forming thick tar mats in Louisiana's 3,000 miles of marshy coastland. A massive effort to clean it all up immediately began.

For this game, the culprit oil company will be known as United Kingdom Oil. Tar will be represented by 'ore'. Your job will be to haul tar waste, collected from the beaches by UK Oil cleaning crews, to 3 disposal centers.

A briefing is provided as this game starts.
! Read the briefing !

Gold: Haul 750 loads of tar and achieve a company book value of $350 million.
Silver: 600 loads, $250M CBV
Bronze: 400 loads, $150M CBV

A Railroad Went to Sea

by Edward Ford
1895-1912A Railroad Went to Sea

Replicate the construction and operation of the Florida East Coast Railroad, from Miami to Key West.

In March 1896, the FEC Railroad reached Miami Florida. Henry Flagler then used his personal wealth to extend the line to Key West by January, 1912.

You are Flagler's chief engineer and must oversee the construction of the line. There are no stock or bond activities. Ignore messages about stock splits.

A program bug causes buildings on the west side of Key West to be invisible. They are there and they do function in the scenario.

The city of Hollywood did not exist in 1895. It is on the map to provide traffic between south Florida and the north.
----------------------------------------
WINNING REQUIREMENTS
----------------------------------------
Move 125 loads of passengers to Key West by the end of June, 1920 and:

Connect Miami to Key West by the end of (GOLD) January, 1912, or

1895-1912A Railroad Went to Sea

"A railroad went to sea" - Scenario for Railroad Tycoon 3.

After Henry M. Flagler took over a narrow gauge line from Jacksonville to St. Augustine, converted it to standard gauge, and built the hotel "Ponce de Leon" in St. Augustine, he extended the line to the south.

His destination was the Florida Keys, a chain of islands that stretches more than 100 miles into the Caribbean and whose outermost island Key West is only 90 miles from Havana. Until the 1950s there was a large volume of goods and traffic between the USA and Cuba. Moreover, Key West was closer to the Panama Canal than any other US port.

The construction of the route was very difficult. From Homestead to Key Largo it was mainly the swampy ground. After Key Largo it was the insects. And if it wasn't that, it was the weather. Hurricanes in 1906, 1909 and 1910 destroyed parts of the track.

In January 1912 the line was completed and scheduled traffic was started.

A hurricane on 2.9.1935 destroyed 40 miles of the line. The Florida East Coast Railway (FEC) was unwilling to rebuild the line, as it never recovered the construction costs. The remaining concrete bridges were used for the US Highway 1.

Your assignment is now as a civil engineer to lead the construction of the line between Palm Beach (Hollywood) and Key West. Since the scenario is closely based on reality, you will also have to deal with the adversities of the weather and some of Henry Flagler's decisions.

Age of Steam

Dampfzeitalter

by William (wsherrick) Sherrick
1885-1920Age of Steam

The last half of the Nineteenth Century was a time of great change, growth and invention.

The Civil War was over and America got down to the business of rebuilding a shattered nation. The force that moved the world was Steam.

This is the grand era of great deeds, high risk taking and big dreams. It is necessary to rebuild a nation devastated by the horrors of the Civil War. The North American Continent is on the verge of changes never before conceived of by even the most optomistic visionaries.

This new world needs an efficient, reliable transportation network to make it all happen. Take the reins of the "Iron Horse," deliver the service the nation demands, and reap the rewards. You have 35 years to accomplish this goal.

BRONZE: Have a company book value of $85 million.
SILVER: Have a company book value of $175 million.
GOLD: You are going to have to work a little harder for the prize. Have a company book value of $250 million, and a personal net worth of $250 million at least.

Good Luck!

***SPECIAL CONDITIONS***
No unconnected track laying.

This is a scenario based on the Mississippi Valley map. The scenario consists of events surrounding developments in steam locomotive technology, such as the invention of the superheater.

The economy is unique, and designed to be enjoyable for the beginner as well as the experienced player. There are no contrived goals in the game. The goal is to build and operate the most efficient and profitable railroad possible with the resources at hand.

This game was created out of a pure love of steam power and the era it made possible. I hope all who play the "Age of Steam" enjoy themselves playing it as much I did in making it.

William Sherrick

1885-1920Dampfzeitalter

Age of Steam II - Green Diamond

Dampfzeitalter II - Gruener Diamant

by William (wsherrick) Sherrick
1885-1920Age of Steam II - Green Diamond

You are in charge of the fledgling Illinois Central and your competition has a huge head start on you.

It is your destiny to forge the ICRR into a steam-powered juggernaut. Beware: the path to greatness has a few difficulties along the way.

This is the second chapter in the Age Of Steam series.
You are in charge of the Illinois Central, the "Main Line Of Mid-America", and you have an uphill battle ahead of you as you try to achieve the goals set for you below. If you can manage to absorb 3 of your competitors you are automatically placed in the hall of fame with an INSTANT GOLD WIN. Otherwise you have until 1920 to do the rest.

BRONZE: Have a company book value of 75 million.
SILVER: Have a company book value of 125 million.
GOLD: You are going to have to work a little harder for the prize. Have a company book value of 150 million and a personal net worth of 150 million, at least. And to top that off, your lifetime company revenue has to be the highest in the land in order to win anything at all.

So all aboard! Get your pressure and fire in good shape. The conductor's just signaled the clear ahead. Let's go! Good Luck!

***SPECIAL CONDITIONS***
No unconnected track laying.
You may not start another company.

Helpful Hints: Try to get your average express speed to 30 mph or better.

There are specific logos to be used in the game. They are included as extras in the downloaded file, as is the P-2 Mountain locomotive. Insert the contents of the files into your Data/UserExtraContent folder.

Installing The Game Logos, et al.

It is easy to add logos or heralds, as they are traditionally called, to your game file.

After you have downloaded the game from HBRR, into your common documents folder or directly into the RRT3 Data/UserExtraContent folder, you then will have a normal looking folder which has the .gmp map file, the logos folder, and a folder for the P-2 Mountain locomotive. If you have downloaded into your common documents folder, simply move the downloaded folder into the Data/UserExtraContent folder in the RRT3 game folder.

Next, you must cut the PK4 files of the logos out of the downloaded folder and then paste them into the Data/UserExtraContent folder.

The P-2 Locomotive is comprised of 4 files:
P-2.PK4 must be pasted into the Data/UserExtraContent folder.
P-2L.lco, P-2L.car and P-2T.car must be pasted into the Data/EngineTypes folder.

The .gmp map goes into the maps folder.

Then you are all set to play the Age of Steam II-Green Diamond.

Once you perform these actions once it is easy to figure out how to add all the other neat stuff that is available on the HBRR Forum. Any difficulties or questions may be posted in the Forum and there will be a host of kind, patient people who will be helpful.

I hope that all who play this game, as well as the original Age of Steam, will find many hours of enjoyment ahead.

If you can achieve an average Express Speed of 40 mph or better, the Railway Express Agency will reward the railroad with cash and a mail contract. If you can maintain the high average speed above 35 mph the contract will pay off again in later years.

You have until 1935 to achieve your objectives.

SILVER: A company book value of 150 Million.
BRONZE: A company book value of 125 million.

Age Of Steam III – Big Valley

This is the third scenario in the Age Of Steam series. The goal is simple. Run the best railroad possible.

In the folder with the map you will find the logo needed for the game, as well as two additional locomotives.

To install the logo: take the logo PK4 file and place it in your UserExtraContent folder.

The locomotives are part of a locomotive addition pack available at Hawk & Badger RRT3 Forum. If you have downloaded the loco pack, the P-2 and G-5 ten wheeler should be in your files already. If not: copy and paste the .lco and .car files into your EngineTypes folder. Put the PK4 and beauty shots of the locomotives in the UserExtraContent folder.

The Age Of Steam Series can be enjoyed individually or as a set. The theme of the series is, of course, the development of steam power as it played its major part in creating the modern world. If there are any problems or questions, please contact me or any of the good folks at Hawk Badger & Southeastern Railroad.

Finally, I hope that these scenarios provide many hours of enjoyment.

Age Of Steam IV - Blue Streak
August 10, 2007
By William W. Sherrick

This is the fourth of five scenarios in the Age Of Steam Series. The series list is thus far: Age Of Steam, Age Of Steam II-Green Diamond, Big Valley and Age Of Steam IV-Blue Streak.

Blue Streak was inspired by the St. Louis Southwestern Railroad, also known as the Cotton Belt Route, "Route Of Blue Streak Service". This railroad’s claim to fame was the phenomenal freight service it provided, by scheduling manifest freights often filled perishable fruit and produce with fast steam locomotives on runs between the cities of the South, Southwest and Midwest.

I hope all who play this scenario enjoy it and find it entertaining. This map covers the period when Steam Power was at its zenith in the United States. It is a tribute to the machines and iron men who created modern world that sometimes we take for granted.

CRITICAL NOTICE: To play this scenario the 1.06 patch MUST be installed.
This map was created in the 1.06 patch and earlier patches will not be able to read it.
The 1.06 patch is available for free download at the Hawk Badger & Southeastern Railroad Website.

There are several extra locomotives included in the extra content file for adding to your RRT3 roster if you don’t have them already. They are not necessary to play the game, but will add greatly to the enjoyment of it. There is also the Cotton Belt Logo in its folder. It was made for me by special request. It is a beautiful logo and it along with the extra locomotives are easily put into the game for use.

Go into the extra content folder and unzip the files provided. The logo and the PK4 files of the locomotives go into the UserExtraContent folder in the RRT3 program files. The locomotive car and tender car files must be placed in the EngineTypes folder.

If you are unsure of how to do this or have any other questions about this map, lots of friendly help can be found at the Hawk Badger & Southeastern Forum. We are there to help.

Age of Steam V - Phoenix Rising

by William (wsherrick) Sherrick
2008-2045Age of Steam V - Phoenix Rising

So you've always wanted to run a shortline? Now's your chance.

In an era of eviro-politics, oil scarcity and cost, you will need to be creative to rebuild the decayed remains of a once great rail economy. And remember to ignore the status quo.

Welcome To East Iowa!
Now as oil is becoming more scarce and expensive, fuels made from corn and other "bio-materials" are currently all the rage. The Midwest is suddenly getting a lot of attention.

You have entered into a contract with the State of Iowa to rebuild and refurbish much of the abandoned branch & main lines that were lost via neglect and abandonment. One of your principal purposes is to ship corn, coal and other energy products to feed an uncertain world starved for fuel, and in the process build a railroad phoenix that rises from the ashes of the past.

You have 37 years to:

BRONZE:
Become an independent company by connecting to the 4 required territories, and earning $5 million in revenue in each territory, as well as hauling 5,000 or more loads and having overall lifetime company profit of $75 million.

SILVER:
Become a Regional Carrier by earning $7 million in each territory, hauling 7,000 or more total loads and having a lifetime company profit of $150 million.

GOLD:
Become a Class One Carrier by earning $12 million in each territory, hauling 10,000 total loads, and having a lifetime company profit of $225 million.

The State of Iowa will decide which territories you must build to.
They can change territories each time you begin a new game, if they choose to.
You can't get fired, resign or start a new company.
The People of Iowa thank you. Get to it.

Age Of Steam V-Phoenix Rising
By William Sherrick

This is the fifth and last map in the Age Of Steam Series. This last scenario is not historical, but rather takes place in the near future. The theme surrounds the coming fuel crisis as petroleum becomes more expensive and hence harder to get. A lot of the strategy revolves around shipping coal, corn and other materials to create bio-fuels. It is a fairly straight forward game.

I have provided a logo to be used with the game if it is desired. If you have installed Mr. Scott’s RRT3 logo pack the logo it is already in your files. Mr. Scott’s logos and much other extra content, cars, locomotives and re-skins are available at the Hawk & Badger Southeastern web site.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
This scenario requires the 1.06 patch to work. The l.06 patch is available at Hawk & Badger.

I hope that this scenario brings many hours of enjoyment, and it has been my pleasure to create the Age Of Steam series for the RRT3 playing community around the world.

American Civil War

by Porter (EPH) Hopson
1840-1865American Civil War

Build a railroad to span a nation, defend your interests during the Civil War, and rebuild your empire afterwards.

From 1840 to 1860, the United States will enjoy the fastest growth of any nation. Industrial output and population will soar, per-capita income climb and immigration boom.

The territory west of the Appalachians will flood with settlers, and vast new states will be admitted to the Union. The cost of this explosive growth is an increasing strain on the fabric of the Union; you can see that, even if your friends cannot. Disagreements will grow over the morality of slave labor, the cost of the protective tariff and whether slavery should - or even can - be kept out of the western territories. After the Mexican-American War adds huge new lands to the United States you will be sure that secession - and War - are inevitable. From 1850 on the question will be not whether the clash will come, but how bad the damage will be.

Before long you will have some hard choices to make, whether to stand by the Union or support the cause of Southern independence. For now you may start your company anywhere you like and pursue your fortune.

*****************************************
You may only start one company and you cannot be fired or resign.

A Gold medal can only be had by winning the Civil War for your section, North or South, in 1864 or 1865.

If you lose the War, the Silver can be won by having a Company Book Value of $30,000,000 or more and and annual profit of $10,000,000 or more.

The Bronze will be awarded in 1870 if you have a Company Book Value of $20,000,000 or more and an annual profit of $5,000,000 or more.

American Empire

by Ken (bothersome) Lantrip
1880-?American Empire

An open-ended scenario with all the fun of building an empire!

There are multiple goals that do NOT have to be completed.

Hold 100 million personal cash for 1 year.
Hold 500 million personal cash for 1 year.
Hold 1 billion personal cash for 1 year.
Haul 1000 loads of automobiles.
Haul 1000 loads of weapons.
Connect Minneapolis, Charlotte, Little Rock, and Collingwood via rail.

*** SPECIAL CONDITIONS ***
You cannot lay unconnected track.
No robber baron tricks.
No sabotaging.

I have decided to replace the Jagged Alliance scenario map with a new and improved version. The new version is so radically changed it deserved a new name. I have called it "American Empire". In this new map you can create an empire of your own liking. There is no end of scenario. This means there is no lose events. You just keep playing until you no longer want to play it.

So, how can this be any fun? Well, for starters there are accomplishments that can be completed against time. You can use these as a winning event against your friends for competition, tournaments, or whatever.

You do not have to pursue those goals if you do not wish to. This makes American Empire a good map for beginners who just want to run the trains. It is also a good map for the intermediate players to learn some of the advanced features of the game, like the stock market and how to manipulate it. It also turns out that it is a great map for the expert who finds competing with his friends for that ultimate tycoon experience.

This map has been play tested for hundreds of hours. It is well balanced and well scripted. It is not scripted for a history lesson. There are many other maps out there for that. This scenario uses the best Anti-Robber-Baron scripting to ever occur in the Railroad Tycoon 3 Arena. For a money based scenario, this is almost a requirement because of all the things that one can do to get free money. Or you could just eliminate all the nice features of RRT3 like the stock market to put a stop to it. I chose to use scripting to catch the bad guys. This way, the fun stays in the game.

This map is basically a modified version of the "Germantown" Campaign scenario.

My personal record is 1 Billion in 33 years.

Arizona Railroads

by Gary (AZ Rail Rat) Reames
1876-?Arizona Railroads

The Big Four have finished the first trans-continental railroad.

The searing desert heat, but mostly politics, prevented a southern route from being first. Now, the Government wants a line from New Orleans.

Track from San Francisco, through San Bernadino, to Yuma is done, but Jay Gould's Texas railroad heading for El Paso is stuck in Ft. Worth. A company that can get the job done is needed! They again call on Collis Huntington.

The problem now is building across the scorching Arizona Sonoran Desert. A plethora of warehouses are overflowing with goods from the Golden State, ready for markets east.

Collis again aquired sevices of James Harvey Strobridge to manage track building. James accepted under condition he didn't have to live on the line as he did in the north.

Your BRONZE goal is to connect Yuma to Tucson by St. Patrick's Day, 1880. After that, get involved in other Arizona rail lines. In 1886 help with the Phoenix Street Trolley which links Phoenix and several Valley of the Sun Cities. Link the Southern Pacific from Maricopaville to Phoenix by July 1887 for BRONZE with OAK LEAF CLUSTER.

In 1893, you are called by Frank Murphy to help on the Prescott and Phoenix, a branch of the Sante Fe Railroad. A line from Prescott to the PST at Glendale by March 1895 earns a second Cluster.

While up north, help build "Murphy's Impossible Railroad" which runs a mountainous route through Turkey Creek to the Crown King mine. No medal, just money and glory.

Your final BRONZE CLUSTER comes when you help the Arizona & California Railroad link Wickenburg to Aguila and west to the border town of Parker by the end of 1905.

Silver rewards come later in the 20th Century and will be presented then.

Good luck.

Around Cache Valley

Rund um Cache Valley

by Bob (RSH) Heuman
1850-1950Around Cache Valley

The area around Cache Valley, including the location where the Golden Spike was driven.

You should be able to get the Gold in the alloted time without any cheating.

Northern Utah and southern Idaho, with a touch of Wyoming. Get the Gold by connecting five locations...

Bronze requires you to connect Minidoka in the northwest and Logan in the center and Fort Duchesne in the southeast.

For Silver also connect to Ibapah in the southwest.

Get the Gold by also connecting to Daniel in the northeast, and you also need to make $100,000,000 in industry profits in any one year.

You should be able to do this WITHOUT using any LONG tunnels. Only the first 150 tunnel sections will be affordable. After that the price per tunnel section goes up 150,000,000%. The occasional short tunnel is what the pioneer railroad builders used, after all.

You should also be able to do it without any grade greater than 5 or 6%, not counting any weird and wonderful grades created by building a station or other facility. Only you will know how well you have done against this last target.

You have 100 year, whatever year you started in.

Athabasca 1905

by Joe (JayEff) Fitzpatrick
1800-2000Athabasca 1905

Build a pioneer railway in northern Alberta, and keep it afloat despite the challenges posed by debt, mud and muskeg.

GROUARD - 1899

Canadian government officials anticipate a rapid pace for northern settlement, and initiate treaty negotiations with the chiefs of the Cree, Beaver, Chipewyan and Métis nations. Hovering nearby, the Catholic priests, Anglican ministers and North West Mounted Police red serge press their views.

Within a year, Canada and most of the native bands have signed Treaty 8. Indians, Métis and settlers flock to the District of Athabaska land offices to register their treaty claims and agricultural leases.

In the next decade the population of Alberta will quintuple. Settlers disembark from the transcontinental railway and walk to the Peace River valley on the Edson Trail. They trust that a railway system will follow, to take the fruits of their labour to market.

Battle for California

by Lars (Lama) Maischak
1871-?Battle for California

California is in the grip of the Southern Pacific's monopoly.

Build the Santa Fe's lines into the state and establish some real competition.

The transcontinental railroad has been completed, and Californians soon begin to realize that they are a captive audience to the Southern Pacific's monopoly. Your task will be to establish a competing railroad to the SP.

The 'San Joaquin Valley RR' was founded by San Francisco business interests as an alternative to the Southern/Central Pacific, but quickly came under the control of the 'Big Four' who owned that monopoly. In this scenario, the SJVRR is an independent company. Gaining control over it will be crucial for you to reach your goals.

* Bronze *
Connect Barstow with Los Angeles, and haul 50 loads of tourists (represented by troops).

* Silver *
In addition, connect Barstow with Stockton, and gain $6,000,000 on trains from Central California.

* Gold *
Also connect Barstow with San Francisco, accumulate a company book value of $30,000,000, and put the 'Big Four' in their place by ending the game as the richest player, with $20,000,000 net worth.

SPECIAL CONDITION: You cannot build unconnected track.

Bermuda Triangle

by Greg (Cash on Wheels) Burrell
2020-2060Bermuda Triangle

Its the year 2020 and Fediel Castro's influence is waning. Can your rails find a way into Cuba, plus put a grip on the rest of the Caribbean?

Start in the deepest part of the American 'south' then work your way south.

Making rail relevant again in the Caribbean is a unique challenge. Haiti & Purto Rico don't currently have a notable railroad presence. The Dominican Republic has a fragmented system of mixed railroad gauges. Jamaica's line is mostly redundant. Cuba though, possesses the most railroad track per square mile(km) in the world. Cuba's system is slowly recovering from decades of the just-lifted US embargo. Your quest is to take over or rebuild all of these systems. If nothing or no one gets in the way...

Please note due to the uncertainty the Bermuda Triangle causes, the Government will not allow cross-channel suspension bridges.

BRONZE - none

SILVER
Haul 1000 loads of paper
Connect 45 cities by the year 2060

GOLD
Haul 2000 loads of paper
Connect 66 cities
Deliver 16 loads of coal to Punta de Maisi, Cuba by the year 2060.

DARK MATTER

Connect 71 cities
Deliver 5 loads of coal to Puerto Rico by 2060.

Bermuda Triangle by Cash on Wheels 2016.

Read the readme please!

Bermuda Triangle by Cash on Wheels 2016.

This map revolves around paper & "floating" cargos to their destination. Suspension Bridges cannot be built to other islands for the most part. You will also need build your PNW & $$$ making company to takeover other companies in the game. Don't worry PNW boosters are in the game. Do not be afraid of creativity to force a takeover!

---"Floating""----

To "float" & deliver coal. Deliver coal to Key West, Fl and from there the coal will "float" itself from the "empty" port of Key West to Havana, Cuba.

If you have taken over the FDC set up a train to haul-at-loss coal to the other end of Cuba. You can do this all the way to Puerto Rico.

Any cargo will travel through a port. Even if the cargo is not demanded/supplied by the port. Cargo will only travel all the way though a large body of water to its destination if there is a port to enter the water & one to exit the water.

Building to Buffalo

by Keith (Canadian Viking) Boody
1830-1850Building to Buffalo

America needs a rail road to connect the ocean to the Great Lakes.

Can you be the first to build an iron rail empire that links an Atlantic seaport to Buffalo on Lake Erie?

Friend, thou art very wise to realize that rail roads are the way of the future. The first person to connect an Atlantic port with the city of Buffalo by rail will make a fortune - and do our country a great service! I hope to see Philadelphia prosper, but New York has a wonderful harbor, and America is blessed with many other fine ports, too.

I pray thee start thy company immediately, but ye may wish to delay building track to see what opportunities come thy way. Patience could be a virtue at first, but don't wait too long or others will possess the prime locations. God be with ye!

Bronze
Connect one Atlantic port to Buffalo and transport 10 loads of coffee to Buffalo, and 5 loads of rice from Lake Erie to an Atlantic port by the end of 1854.

Silver
Complete the Bronze conditions by the end of 1852 and have a Company Book Value of $30,000,000.

Gold
Complete the Silver conditions by the end of 1850 and have a Personal Net Worth of $20,000,000.

* * * Special Conditions * * *
You may not build unconnected track.
You may build and own new industries, but you may not buy existing businesses.
You must spend money to lobby the legislature in each state where you want to build, in order to gain the necessary charter for your railroad in that state.

1853-1873Building to the Great West

Everyone is talking about the need for a transcontinental railroad, but no one is building it.

Can you get the wheels rolling by building an iron gateway from the Great Lakes to the Great West?

Congratulations on being selected by the Board of Directors to be chairman of the Chicago & Great Western Railroad!

You have four goals:

1) Build a financially healthy railroad from Chicago to the city chosen by Congress to be the eastern terminus of the anticipated transcontinental railroad. Problem is, no one yet knows where, or when, that railroad will be built.

2) Haul supplies needed for building the transcontinental to the chosen eastern terminus. The date by which these supplies will be required is unknown, but the needed supplies are expected to include: goods (iron rails), lumber, grain, livestock and ammunition.

3) Extend the C&GW to one or two other western cities, which the Board of Directors will choose after the location of the transcontinental railroad is announced. The Directors want the company to be prepared to build its own transcontinental line, even though it may not be prudent to do so for another 25 or 30 years.

4) Become very wealthy, with a personal net worth of $20 million and $2 million in cash.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
You may not resign as chairman.
You may not start another company.
You may not build unconnected track.
You may build and own new industries, but you may not buy existing businesses.
You must begin at Chicago Union Station which has just been built by the C&GW.

Further information and directives will come from your Board of Directors. You have only 20 years to complete this daunting task, and some of your competitors have a head start. So you had better get on the job right away!

Bush vs Gore V-2

by (Optimizer)
1998-?Bush vs Gore V-2

The USA need high-speed rail to defend against terrorism, foreign industrial competition, global warming and congested road traffic.

The United States of America has won the Cold War, and dominates the planet in nearly every field.

The dependence on foreign oil, and the congestion of road traffic, hamper the country's development. Meanwhile, intelligence suspects that terrorists plan an attack against the transportation system at a scale never seen before. Scientists are also concerned that fossil fuel burning causes global warming.

The Federal Government calls for entrepreneurs that can re-vitalize the American railroad system, which has been fallen behind since World War II.

California uber alles

by (Gumboots)
2050-2080California uber alles

The chaos that followed the massive volcanic activity in 2020 has subsided.

California, or what's left of it, has provided you with a rare opportunity to make a profit from doing something noble.

The seismic activity has finally eased up, and life is getting back to normal in California. Commerce is not what it should be, and if a transportation system isn't put in place soon the economy may collapse. You've been hired to build a railway for the region. The tectonic problems had a bad effect on the grid, so electric trains are out. If you do a good job, you'll still make money.

Note: All medals require that you have no personal debt, and no company debt, and have connected Santa Rosa to Crestview. Additional requirements are as follows:

BRONZE:
$8 million personal net worth.
$16 million company book value.

SILVER:
$16 million personal net worth.
$32 million company book value.
Haul $2.4 million of cargo to AND from East Tokyo.

GOLD:
$32 million personal net worth.
$64 million company book value.
Haul $4.8 million of cargo to AND from Big Air County.
Haul $4.8 million worth of cargo to AND from East Tokyo.

In all cases you have until the end of 2080.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
-----------------------------------------

Connecting Big Air to Santa Rosa will earn your company $1 million.
---------------------------
PERSONAL CASH BONUSES FOR REVENUE SHIPPED:
You will be paid a personal cash bonus for certain amounts of revenue in and out of some territories. The amount of the bonus is 6.25% of the revenue figure (ie: you get a $100k bonus for $1600k revenue shipped).

The four territories are:
Big Air County (which includes the towns of Big Air and Little Air)
East Tokyo (which covers only that town)
Pocco Lobo (which covers only that town)
Tetille (which covers only that town)

Bonuses are paid when revenue out, or revenue in, hits $400k, $800k, $1,600k and $3,200k for all four territories.
Bonuses are also paid for $6,400k out of Tetille and Poco Lobo (they never get that much in, and rarely get that much out).
Bonuses are also paid for $6,400k and $12,800k in or out of Big Air County and East Tokyo.
Getting the big bonuses for shipping $12,800k in or out of Big Air County and East Tokyo is possible, but rare.

It's nice when you get it, though.
---------------------------
PERSONAL CASH BONUSES FOR CITY CONNECTIONS:
For connecting any 5 cities you will be paid $100k.
For connecting any 8 cities you will be paid $200k.
For connecting any 14 cities you will be paid $300k.

---------------------------
There are a few other tricks and things hiding in this game, but you'll find those.

Canada Bound

by Joe (JayEff) Fitzpatrick
1836-?Canada Bound

British North America 1836-1867.

Bind this group of colonies in a ribbon of steel, bring prosperity and a sense of patriotic pride to a young nation.

After years in the grip of oligarchies the people of BNA are angry at the lack of economic and political progress. They are about to take to the streets, while the Family Compact of Toronto and the Chateau Clique in Montréal finally begin to crumble. It is your role to assist progress, shaping your vision for the future of the region.

There are 6 annual haul missions, worth 1 point each. You will have 6 opportunites to change the course of history (political missions), worth 1 point each.

SILVER - Earn 50 haul, 3 political points.
GOLD - Earn 70 haul, 5 political points.

HAUL MISSIONS:
Haul 5 loads per year:

Canada Bound! Version 1.3
by Joe Fizpatrick (JayEff)

Author's Comments:
In 1836, Canada's first railway began near Montreal, connecting Longueuil to Lake Champlain. Soon another railway was started near New Glasgow to assist with coal exports. Expansion proceeded very slowly until conditions improved in the late 1840s that set the stage for an 1850s railroad boom. A flood of Irish immigrants made track construction cheaper.

Upon reorganization in 1848, the Canadian government guaranteed loan principal and interest for bona fide railway companies who had already commenced track construction in Canada, which made it easier for the companies to obtain loans. The 1854 Reciprocation Agreement stimulated trade between British North America and the United States and allowed the colonies to develop a degree of economic independence from Britain.

During the next ten years, between finally having competent government and an excellent trade deal, the colonies gathered economic strength. In the 1860s, the region encountered several political challenges, mainly related to aggravations between the British and both sides of the American Civil War. In 1866, when leaders and the Canadian militia failed to accomplish political mission #6, it became apparent that Canada would have to become more independent, better able to fight her own battles, and a little over a year later, a new country was formed.

Hints:
1. Be patient. If you survive the first 10 years with one political mission accomplished you are on track for gold, even if you have no haul points yet. In most seedings you do not have the clout to accomplish both early missions, so pick one and commit to it wholeheartedly.

2. After the USA signs the Reciprocation Agreement do whatever it takes to keep them happy. A complex calculation, employing several factors, is made to calculate their degree of happiness, and this determines the likelihood that the agreement will be renewed.

3. Some choices and missions work well together. If you try to fulfill Durham's request, cooperate with him to get compatible bonuses. The Aroostook issue is related to New Brunswick's need for wood, so try to work these two missions together.

4. There is more than one passenger mission. Consider having pure passenger trains, with each general freight train able to haul a little mail.

5. There is more than one military mission in the 1860s. Arrange your alcohol, weapon and ammunition production strategically, and keep track of the trains hauling these cargoes and troops (name them) so they can be easily rerouted. With the final mission, Political Mission #6, time is limited. You must begin filling *stopped* trains at the first warning, and preferably have them within striking distance of both avenues of attack - the Niagara and the Richelieu. Do not deliver until the year of the expected attack.

6. Track construction is limited. You can increase your ability to build track by taking over ai companies and using their allotments also.
