SILVER:

D) Once the gamewide lifetime haulage of machinery exeeds 300 loads the Aurelians will be able to build their own locomotives, which will reduce purchase price by 20%.

Wellcome to Borduria. As a contractor you have been assigned to build and run a railway system for the Bordurian Goverment, in order to improve the infrastructure and to stimulate the fledgling industrialism.

Much has changed since your last visit to Borduria. The nation you knew no longer exists, and in its place are a series of bickering states.

Can you unite them before it's too late?


Welcome back to Borduria! Or at least, what's left of it. As you can plainly see, things are no longer the same as they were on your last visit. 20 years ago, Borduria entered a vicious war with its neighbors in an attmept to gain access to a seaport. Since then, Borduria has been destroyed, and in its place has risen the new Republic of Wanka. However, this nation is relatively weak compared to the other superpowers in the region. Can you bring it to glory before it's too late?

You have been contracted by the government to help the country prosper and succeed. You have been given five tasks to fulfill by the end of 1970. Good luck.

CONTRACT CONDITIONS:
1) You must have hauled over 5000 loads throughout your company's existence.
2) You must connect the following cities to Ariza: Luacha, Luz, Salawan, Pwela, and Githama.
3) Your CBV must be at least $100 million.
4) Your PNW must be at least $50 million.
5) You must fulfill a special task set for you by each of the other nations.

BRONZE: Fulfill three requirements.
SILVER: Fulfill four requirements.
GOLD: Fulfill all five requirements.

The remote Principality of Borogravia slumbers in isolation. Develop industry and tourism in this mountainous area. It will be a slow process, but the rewards are large.


Borogravia is a landlocked principality isolated by high mountains, but its valleys and ranges could make the country prosper if opened to rail transportation. The country abounds with minerals and other natural resources, and poets have lauded the beauty of its scenery. It is up to you to develop Borogravia's full potential. Get the trains on track for a boom in industry and tourism.

You have until the end of 1899.

Four cities serve as portals into Borogravia: Sankt Amalien, Halmstadt, Sonntal, and Ohnsieden (cities with names in e x p a n d e d type).

For Bronze, connect 12 cities, and haul 250 loads to the portal cities.

For Silver, connect 24 cities, and haul 500 loads to the portal cities.
You also have to connect the Zeller See to Sankt Amalien and Halmstadt.

For Gold, connect 36 cities, and haul 1000 loads to the portal cities.
You also have to connect the Zeller See to all four portal cities.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
-- If you are fired, you will lose the game.
-- You cannot buy stock on margin, but you start out with 50% of your company's stock.
-- Most rivers in Borogravia are not navigable, because they are too quick and shallow. Therefore, they do not convey cargo.
-- You do need to build bridges to lay track across the river-beds, though.
-- Connecting either lake with any portal city will boost passenger traffic.
-- Cost of buying and building industry will sink, and factory production will improve, as more rail transportation is available.
-- Managers are available to help you run your railroad more efficiently.

Christallerean landscape as a place for railroads to evolve.


Christaller poses that, in a landscape where there exists an equal distribution of production facilities, no special natural barriers such as water or elevation differences, and no other disruptive factors such as political borders, a landscape will evolve in which there are different city sizes with each having a specific range of influence. This type of landscape is seen in old European regions such as Bavaria, Austria, France and Spain, of course not exactly like this, but with incredible similarities. 

In this scenario, you become the main disruptive factor, along with your competitor(s). See what happens in the Christallerean landscape when the railroad arrives. Will you enforce the already strongly visible landscape or will you change everything?

Your goals are simple, although not easy: 

For BRONZE: you need to create an empire with at least a company book value of $10.000.000 within 25 years. 

To obtain a SILVER medal your company will need to have a book value of at least $25.000.000 within 25 years and a personal net worth of $1.000.000 or more.

Finally, you will need at least $50.000.000 in company book value and $10.000.000 in personal net worth within 20 years for the GOLD. 

In this scenario, no unconnected track building is allowed. Also, no resigning as Chairman and no taking over Chairmanship of another company. Also, no short selling allowed.

You ended up as boss of the Nirvana Lines in Cursed City, where you're damned to listen to a complaining people: "Where does this ghost locomotive come from, which now blocks the way to the Nirvana with its rails? By which means can one drive it out again? And - more important - WHO can help?"

Exactly because of the latter question the mayor officially begs you to visit the Oracle at Infoprim. For this reason you should look in Bridgehead for a possibility of being able to enter the Roots of the Oracle.

"Oh, no!" you quarrel with the fate. "Why does it always meet me?"

But that's exactly your job now! Solve this problem! Fast!

Irgend etwas hat Dich als Chef der Nirvana Lines in die verfluchte Stadt verschlagen, wo Du Dir das Klagen der Leute anhören musst: "Woher kommt denn nur diese Geister-Lok, welche jetzt mit ihren Schienen den Weg ins Nirwana versperrt? Womit kann man sie wieder vertreiben? Und - wer kann helfen?"

Genau wegen letzterer Frage bittet Dich der Bürgermeister offiziell darum, das Orakel von Infoprim zu befragen. Dazu solltest Du in Brückenkopf nach einer Möglichkeit suchen, die Wurzeln des Orakels betreten zu dürfen.

"Verdammt und zugenäht!" schiesst es Dir durch die Birne, "Mit was für einem Mist muss ich mich jetzt nur herumschlagen!?!"

Na ja - und genau so ist es!

General Conditions: You must connect minimum 50/100/150 cities within 30/45/60 years from game start. If you fail, you have lost the game.

A) You cannot buy existing industries.

B) The following industries will be seeded on this map:
Farms, mines, bakeries and barracks Breweries, chemical plants, dairy processors, distilleries, lumber mills, meat packing plants military depots, tool & die and textile mills.

C) The following industries are unseeded and have to be built by the player:
Aluminium mills, auto plants, electric plants, electronic plants, fertilizer factories, furnances, furniture factories, machine shops, munition factories, nuclear plants, oil refineries, paper mills, pharmaceutical plants, plastic factories, steel mills, tire factories and weapon factories.

BRONZE: Have a Lifetime Industrial Profit of 200 mill. and a Players Net Worth of 50 mill. at the beginning of 1950.

SILVER: Have a LIP of 400 mill. and a PNW of 75 mill. at the beginning of 1950.

GOLD: Have a LIP of 600 mill. and a PNW of 100 mill. before the beginning of 1950.

The Republic of Dragozain - a scenario to test your profit-making abilities.


Dragozain is an ancient country, tucked away in a peninsula that almost forbids inland contact to the rest of the world. This very old country endured feudalism for longer than most, with wars between rival nobles lasting for centuries. Only recently the Grand Duchies of Uhman, Cormac, Juhamsa and Lierrenac were dissolved and a king effectively ruled the land.

This happened six years ago, but an absolute monarch never lasted in Dragozain's millenia of history. The republican revolution is upon Dragozain. The king is dead, long live the Republic!

The Republic needs a railway network that covers the entire nation, but so far, we have nothing to show for. Your objectives as future director of the Republican Railways are as follows:

(1) Build railroads between Cormac and the key cities of Lierrenac, Uhman, Juhamsa and Korel.

(2) Maintain the company operating with profit.

You can play until 1925...

Your in-game goals:

BRONZE: deliver 30 passengers to each of these cities and have at least 5 years with profit over $2M

SILVER: deliver 50 passengers to each of these cities and have at least 5 years with profit over $4M

GOLD: deliver 50 passengers to each of these cities, plus 20 to Candent, and have at least 5 years with profit over $6M

Ed Land welcomes you, Brunel, with the hopes you can make it prosper after years of neglect.

However, you have your own ideas about just who should be ruling.


Ed Land hasn't been well managed. Now you've been bought in to change all that. In just 50 years.

Your ultimate goal is to get the Military the supplies they want, but first you have to win the trust of the surrounding semi-independent nations, in order to get to the military's island.

You will need to build nearly all your own industries, not to mention track, stations and everything else as nothing in this life is free. Oh, and your selection of locos is somewhat limited, at least for now.

Territory Access Conditions:
D-Ring - 35 cities connected
Island Nations - 15,000 total loads hauled
Military Island - $200 million industry profits

Victory Conditions:
BRONZE – Connect Four territories.
SILVER – As above, plus 10,000 miles of track.
GOLD – All of the above, plus deliver the following loads to Military Island:
20x Ammo
20x Weapons
30x Troops

Special Conditions:
– No unconnected track.
- You may only start one company.

Selbstverständlich hast Du Deine eigenen Vorstellungen, was wichtig ist und was eher weniger.


Ed Land wurde nicht gut geführt. Aber jetzt bist Du da, um dies zu drehen. In gerade mal 50 Jahren.

Dein wichtigstes Ziel besteht in der Lieferung jener Waren, welche die Generäle auf Military Island fordern. Aber zuerst musst Du das Vertrauen der umliegenden, relativ unabhängigen Nationen gewinnen. Erst dadurch wird der Weg nach Military Island überhaupt frei.

Und weil im Leben nichts gratis ist, musst Du beinahe alles selber organisieren und bezahlen: Schienen, Bahnhöfe, Industrien. Oh - die Auswahl an Lokomotiven ist auch nicht gerade das Gelbe vom Ei!
