Amazzonia

by (fenox)
1845-1880Amazzonia

Amazzonia: a savage land with unknown dangers and surprises... Let's see if you're good enough to connect some towns and make some industry.

Good luck!

To receive a bronze medal you just need to connect Belem to Recife, and Belem to Manaus.

If you'd like a Silver Medal, you need also to connect Iquitos and Brasilia and have $5 million of industry profit.

But if you want GOLD then you must connect all cities, you must have $15 million of industry profits, and be the only company alive.

By the way, you'll find that you cannot lay unconnected tracks, and there are some dangers and opportunities in the great forest.

1845-1880Amazzonia

Castro's Cuba

Castro's Kuba

by John (Belbincolne) Belbin
1959-1980Castro's Cuba

Fidel has taken Cuba over, removing Batista and the Yanqui capitalists and their vice empire.

Now he is calling on Chairman Mao to help in rebuilding the railroads and sugar industry.

We have twenty one years to rebuild our countries decrepit railways and make our sugar industry prosperous once more. Comrade Mao I ask you, in fraternal friendship, to aid the great Cuban revolution to the best of your abilities. By the end of 1980 we must connect every city and earn an industrial revenue of $10 million.

This will earn you a Gold Medal and the grateful thanks of the people of Cuba. Failure will, as you would expect, get you nothing. You must also commence building from our Havana rail, and cannot build any discontinuous track. Oh, and one other little thing. We cannot afford electricity so it's steam or diesel only I'm afraid.

Good luck Comrade Chairman, although I'm sure a man of your ability won't need it!

GOLD
By the end of 1980: must connect every city and earn an industrial revenue of $10 million.

1959-1980Castro's Kuba

Central Argentina II

Zentral Argentinien II

by Anders R. (arop) Pilgaard
1865-1955Central Argentina II

The first railway in Argentina, Ferrocaril Oeste de Buenos Aires, was inaugurated on August 30 1857.

You can start between 1857 and 1885. The game will end at the beginning of 1955.

Argentinian railways has an extent of ca. 45.000 km of track, mostly radiating out of Buenos Aires, being the biggest rail system in South America, mostly 1676 mm. broad gauge, mainly constructed under British and American supervision. Because of the break of track, Argentina and Uruguay (standard gauge) were never connected by rail, having track on each side of the border. With a few exeptions in Argentina, both systems had no big steam locomotives. Transition to American built diesels was carried out at the end of 1973. There is only 167 km. electric track in Argentina (around Buenos Aires), so there will be only 2 classes of electric locomotives in this scenario.

CONDITIONS:
A) Connect Buenos Aires to the following cities before the beginning of 1900 and your company will recieve a bonus of 5 mill: Mercedes, Santa Fe, Cordoba, Santa Isabel, General Pico, Mendoza, Mar del Plata and Bahia Blanca. If you fail, your company will recieve a penalty of 10 mill.
B) Have a lifetime industrial profit of minimum 50 mill. before the end of 1920.
C) Have a Players Net Worth of minimum 50 mill. before the end of 1940.
D) Have a Company Book Value of minimum 750 mill. at the beginning of 1955 and you will recieve the GOLD.

If you fail in matching condition B, you have lost the game!
If you fail condition C you will only have the BRONZE.
If you fail condition D, You will only recieve the SILVER!

*** SPECIAL CONDITIONS ***
- Issue/buy back stock is not allowed.
- Multiple companies are not allowed.
- Train crashes are disabled.
- No mergers allowed.

1865-1955Zentral Argentinien II

Chile

by Jeff (low_grade) Goddin
1891-1921Chile

30 years of Chile's historic railroads, tycooning and connecting.

William Wheelwright introduced railroads to Chile in the 1850s, and from there the country enthusiastically developed a railroad network that would be the envy of South America.

Rails were first used quite profitably to bring nitrates (crystals) and later copper (ingots) down from the Bolivian highlands to the port of Antofagasta. Meanwhile, Valparaiso and Santiago got a 100km route to facilitate traffic between Chile's capital and its primary ports. Later, the 'longitudinal system' was implemented connecting Chile from Puerto Montt in the south up to and beyond Antofogasta in the north.

And, between 1910 and 1930 three monumental crossings of the Andes were completed. First in the middle, then in the north and south. See if you can recreate these engineering achievements. And while you're at it, take a shot at becoming a tycoon for the history books.

For BRONZE: Connect Santiago to Mendoza via Santa Rosa de los Andes, have a PNW of $50M, and have a CBV of $100M.

For SILVER: Connect Santiago to Mendoza, Puerto Montt and Antofagasta, have a PNW of $75M, and have a CBV of $150M.

For GOLD: Be the only company left; connect Santiago to Mendoza, Puerto Montt to San Carlos de Bariloche, Santiago to Antofagasta, Santiago to Puerto Montt, and Chuquicamata to Las Juntas; have a PNW of $100M; and have a CBV of $250M.

Special Conditions:
Engines cost 25% more, since they have to be imported.
Track building in the Andes costs 50% more, since many small tunnels, rack sections, and bridges were necessary (which the grade penalty alone can't account for).

1891-1921Chile

30 Jahre in Chile's Eisenbahngeschichte!

Welcome to Cuba! The main business is agriculture. Cuba also has large deposits of nickel ore (symbolized by Bauxite in the game) but only small amounts of oil and logs.

Export: Sugar, coffee, fruit and tobacco.
Import: Grain, steel, goods, logs, pulpwood, oil and coal.

Until the end of 1898 Cuba was a Spanish Colony. A few months before the end of The Cuban Independence War 1895-98 USA, being at war with Spain, invaded Cuba, Puerto Rico and The Philipines. The Island was put under U.S. administration until 20th. of May 1902. Some 25 years before, Cuba had been a playground for British and North American investors, but after the Cuban Independence, and until the Cuban Revolution in 1959, the regimes were controlled by the USA.

The railway network today (2005) consists of 4226 km. public railway (only 140 km. electric, between Havana and Matanzas). Cuba has some 7000 km. plantation railways, until recently powered mostly by old secondhand North American steam locomotives.

You have until the beginning of the year 1959 to achieve:

BRONZE: Have a Company Book Value of $250 mill. and a lifetime industrial profit of $150 mill.

Ecuador

by Jeff (low_grade) Goddin
1911-1946Ecuador

Develop Ecuador's resources and industry. Rich in oil, ores, produce, and wool, but with the Andes in the middle of it all, getting the country connected and exports flowing through its eastern ports to American markets is no small task.

Start between 1911 and 1931.

Welcome to rugged Ecuador. Rich in oil, lumber, produce, and coffee (cacao + coffee). America and Europe are eagerly awaiting the development of a transportation system here to get these goods on ships and to their markets, but the Andes are one of the most formidable mountain ranges in the world, with some of the highest peaks in the West and many active volcanoes. And aside from exploitation by Western markets, Ecuador's own people need you to develop a transportation system that can raise them out of poverty (well, some of them anyway...). Feel free to develop into Colombia and Peru, though Peru and Ecuador aren't the friendliest of neighbors so don't expect rights into Peru to come cheap.

You have 35 years.

FOR BRONZE: Connect Quito and Guayalquil, and haul 100 loads each of diesel, lumber, and coffee plus 150 loads of produce to Ecuador's port towns.

FOR SILVER: Also connect to Cuenca, and haul 300 loads of produce and 200 of the other cargoes to Ecuador's ports.

FOR GOLD: Also Connect to Loja, Esmereldas and Puyo, and haul 500 produce plus 400 of the other cargoes to Ecuador's ports.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
No crashes, tunnels are prohibitively expensive (just try tunneling through a volcano, go on, I dare you), and to reflect the impact which Ecuador's frequent mudslides, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions have on infrastructure, track maintenance is 30% more expensive than usual. Or would you rather I destroyed track sections randomly throughout the game? No, I thought not.

1911-1946Ecuador

Entwickle Ecuador's Wirtschaft!

Ecuador - with Long Breath

Ecuador - mit Langem Atem

by (Kardamom)
1936-1965Ecuador with Long Breath

Welcome to the "G&Q": the "Guayaquil & Quito Railway".

In 1908 the most important railway line of this Andes state was opened. Since then it has lived through highs and lows.

This railway line, finished in 1908, was in those days an important national business. The old North American engine drivers translated the abbreviation as "Good & Quick". But time brought heights and depths and the last owners were looking for fast money only, and cleared off as soon as it became difficult. The consequences were catastrophic!

Due to the unfavorable timetables the formerly weak passenger traffic is nearly completely broken. The neglected network is partially unusable, especially at the west slopes after some slips, and at the Urbina pass. The credit interest eats the meager profits up, and that you still own five age-old locomotives may also change at each moment. Additionally, the business practice of your predecessors frightened nearly all business partners, so that for the time being you must operate with the existing locomotives.

Tasks:
(1) Try to save the railway and hold on till the end of 1965
(2) Connect Guayaquil to Quito
(3) Connect to San Lorenzo
(4) Connect to Cuenca

Medals on easy/normal:
BRONZE (1) and (2)
SILVER (3) or (4)
GOLD (3) and (4)

Medals else:
BRONZE (1)
SILVER (2)
GOLD (3) or (4)

Aufgaben:
(1) Halte einfach durch bis Ende 1965
(2) Verbinde Guayaquil mit Quito
(3) Binde San Lorenzo an
(4) Binde Cuenca an

Medaillen auf leicht/normal:
BRONZE (1) and (2)
SILBER (3) or (4)
GOLD (3) and (4)

Medaillen bei härterer Gangart:

Guatemala

by Lars (Lama) Maischak
1871-1896Guatemala

Caudillos and Coffee beckon you to Guatemala. The stakes are high, and so are the mountains.

Can you prove your worth, Gringo?

Guatemala is a rich country, run by a clique of planters and priests who, with the support of Yanqui capital, exploit the Indio peasant population. Another gross example of inequity and ...

Hey, wait a minute! Are you DROOLING? Well, FINE!, then DO go and exploit them, if that's what you're into. But don't you go thinking it's gonna be easy! Here's what you'll have to do to earn the right to call yourself an accomplished imperialist:

BRONZE - connect Guatemala City to Puerto Barrios and Puerto San Jose, and haul 100 loads to these ports.

SILVER - also connect Guatemala City to Tapachula and San Salvador, haul 50 loads to Mexico, and haul 100 loads to El Salvador.

GOLD - additionally, connect Guatemala City to Tegucigalpa and Puerto Morazon, and haul 50 loads, each, to Honduras and Nicaragua. You will also need a personal fortune of $12,000,000.

You have 25 years.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
- Mergers and takeovers are not allowed.
- You cannot resign or be fired as chairman.
- There will be opportunities for graft, allowing you to take company money for private use.
- Watch out for resulting scandals, though, if your creditors find out!
- Lumber and goods represent cargo in transit between the U.S. East and West Coasts.
- Track building is limited, due to the scarcity of labor. Initially, you can build 300 segments.
- At the beginning of every year, your track allowance is reset to 150, but only if you have less than 150 segments left.

Guatemala
A scenario map for Railroad Tycoon 3 by Lars Maischak, 2006 (revised 2007)
::-------------------------------::
Since the 19th century, North American capital has played a major role in financing plantations and infrastructure in Central America. Since the days of Railroad Tycoon 2, Minor Keith has been a familiar player character. Yet, there has never been a scenario map that took as its subject his "International Railways of Central America."

Begun in the 1870s, Guatemala’s railroads linked the Caribbean and Pacific coasts of the country, were later extended into El Salvador, and had plans to expand further into Honduras and Nicaragua. Here you can assume the role of Minor Keith, and build one of the railroads he later acquired. Including, for Gold, those lines that in reality never matured beyond ambitious plans.

Interact with the governing clique of ultra-conservative generals; help them invade unsuspecting neighboring countries; speculate in coffee futures with the help of German merchants, actual historical figures; buy plantations and steam-ship stocks on the side; and hope to keep investors in the dark about your habit of reaching into company funds for your private gain. All this takes place on an immersive map dominated by steep mountains, many of them active or dormant volcanoes, and rendered realistic by the use of a satellite photograph for landscape coloration.
::-------------------------------::
Scenario:
Single-player (with one AI) or multi-player (2 human players).
25 years, starting at the earliest in 1871 (default), and at the latest in 1881.
::-------------------------------::
GOALS
Single Player: As shown in separate briefing.
Multi-Player: Connect the most cities within 25 years. In case of a tie, the company that has hauled more loads wins.

1871-1896Guatemala

Kannst Du zeigen, was Du draufhast, Gringo?

He, Du! Warte mal...

Haiti - Reconstructed

by Bruno (brunom) Morais
2010-2035Haiti Reconstructed

Rise from the rubble!

Build a modern network, from scratch, in earth-quake devastated, corruption-prone and almost resourceless Haiti for a true gold medal.

Welcome to earthquake-ravaged Haiti. You have been invited to establish a modern railroad network in the country. Even if the enterprise seems daunting at the moment, and profitability is uncertain, there is a wealth of international development aid ready for use. The opportunity is unique.

The total amount of foreign funds that you can receive will be up to $4 million. However, you should be advised that help to 3rd world countries usually falls short of what is promised. Some of your choices can and will be used as excuses to reduce that amount. Your game goals are:

BRONZE
Connect the four major cities in Haiti (Port-au-Prince, Cape Haitien, Les Cayes and Saint-Marc)
plus another 11 localities (15 towns overall).

SILVER
	Connect the four major cities
plus another 21 localities (25 towns overall).
	Haul at least 500 passengers.

GOLD
	Connect the four major cities,
plus Monte Cristi and San Juan in the Dominican Republic,
as well as another 31 localities (35 towns overall).
	Haul at least 1000 passengers.
Be the only company in the map.

Game Time Limit: 25 years.

Mexico

by Steve (Mobius) Lorenz
1870-1895Mexico

Welcome to Mexico!

In a time when the country is patching its wounds from civil unrest, you have been given the task of establishing a central railroad through the heart of the Sierra Madre, and an economic link with the USA.

The newest technological breakthrough is the railroad. The US railroad system is growing fast, and Mexico needs a railroad of its own to compete. The first logical step seems to create a railroad backbone across the heart Mexico. The Mexican coastline, however, looks ripe to gain some easy profits. Of course, the most desirable scenario would be to eventually unite Mexican rails with the network in the US.

Bronze: Connect Mexico City to Chihuahua before the end of 1890.

Silver: Meet the Bronze condition, and generate at least $7.5 million in Industry Profits by 1890.

Gold: Achieve the Silver conditions, and join Mexico City with Houston before 1895.

* SPECIAL CONDITIONS *
- No chairmanship takeovers.
- No company mergers.

Panama Canal

Panama Kanal

by Neil (Wolverine@MSU) Bowlby
1889-1920Panama Canal

A man, a plan, a canal, Panama.

You, J.P. Morgan, are the man. You must develop a plan and supply this vital construction project with building materials and consumer goods.

The year is 1889 and the French are attempting to build a canal across the isthmus of Panama. Their attempt will end in failure and you must be ready to step in and supply the materials necessary for the U.S. to build its own canal. Congress has chartered the Maritime Canal Company, and you, J.P. Morgan, must build a canal to link the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.

Once the canal site has been chosen and construction begun, you must supply the project with building materials and consumer goods. Industrial development in Central America is weak to non-existant, and if you have chosen the "Expert" level, you will have to build the industries needed to produce the required cargoes. If you chose one of the easier levels some of the key industries have been placed on the map. You will recieve points for making the delivery quotas on-time, and an additional point for each $5 M increase in your Company's Book Value or your Personal Net Worth.

During the construction phase, you will need to supply the Panama Canal Zone with construction materials (Ceramics, Coal, Diesel, Lumber, Machinery, Oil, and Steel) as well as with consumer products (Alcohol, Cheese, Clothing, Coffee, Goods, Meat, Milk, and Produce).

To win the Bronze Medal you must accumulate 100 points by the end of 1920.

The Silver will require that you make at least 90% of the yearly haul requirements by the end of 1916 and have at least 150 points by the end of 1920.

The Gold will require that you make the delivery quotas to the Canal Zone before the end of August, 1914 and earn at least 200 points by the end of 1920.

1889-1920Panama Kanal

BRONZE
Sammle 100 Punkte bis Ende 1920

SILBER
Sammle 150 Punkte bis Ende 1920
Erfülle 90% der jährlichen Lieferquote bis Ende 1916

GOLD

Railways of Jamaica

Eisenbahnen von Jamaika

by Anders (arop) Pilgaard (R.I.P.)
1875-1935Railways of Jamaica

Welcome to Jamaica.

You can start the game between 1875 and 1900.
Game end 1935 (gold before 1935).

The first railway in Jamaica was built in 1845 between the port of Kingston and Angels, serving the Caymanas Sugar Estate, near Spanish Town. In 1869 the railway was extended to Old Harbour. The prospering of the citrus and banana growing led to two extensions: Westward from Old Harbour to Porus and from Angel to Ewarton, both completed in 1885. In 1890 the railway was transferred to an American consortia, and extensions, Porus to Montego Bay (1895), Bog Walk to Port Antonio were built.

Soon after the latest expansion the American company fell into receivership, the railway system went under government control, and the Jamaica Railway Corporation was created. After that, an extension was built from May Penn to Frankfield in 1913-25. A planned extension to Falmouth on the northern coast was never completed.

Bauxite lines: In the 1940s huge deposits of bauxite were discovered, and companies developed freight-only isolated lines to serve the ports of Rocky Point Port, Discovery Bay and Port Kaiser near Alligator Point, making a total of 230 miles of railway in Jamaica.

BRONZE: Have a Players Net Worth of minimum 50 mill. and a Lifetime Industrial Profit of min. 50 mill. at the beginning of 1935.

SILVER: Have a PNW of min. 75 mill. and a LIP of min. 100 mill. at the end of 1934.

GOLD: Have a PNW of min. 100 mill. and a LIP of min. 150 mill. before the beginning of 1935.

SPECIAL CONDITITIONS:
a) No bankruptcies.
b) No stock trade on margin.
c) No train crashes.
d) No electric locos available.

Tortuga Islands

Tortuga-Inseln

by Lars (Lama) Maischak
1955-1975Tortuga Islands

This tropical island paradise could use a railroad for the thousands of tourists who visit it.

Connect the new cruise ship port, the many resorts, and the historical sites.

The Tortuga Islands have long been known for their rum exports. Now, they hope to build a tourist trade. A new cruise ship port is under construction, and the government has chartered your railroad to run it. This way, the island can be preserved in its pristine state, without car traffic.

You have 20 years to show your talents.

For Bronze: connect Gran Tortuga to the cruise ship port, and have an income from trains going to or from that port of $1,000,000.

For Silver: meet the Bronze goals, connect Gran Tortuga to Club La Tortuga, and have an income from trains going to or from the club of $1,000,000.

For Gold: meet the Bronze and Silver goals, connect Gran Tortuga to Fort Real, and have an income from trains going to or from the fort of $1,000,000.

~*~*~*~ The Tourists ~*~*~*~

There are two types of tourists who come to the Tortugas.

- Resort tourists (troops) spend their vacations at resorts (barracks), sipping pina coladas and getting a tan.
- There will be no resort tourists until you connect the cruise ship port with Gran Tortuga!
- Ecotourists (passengers) explore the island on their own, visiting the historic sites.

Connecting to places that are of interest to these groups will increase the amount of visitors in each category. You should get into the tourist business, yourself: The income from hotels, restaurants, and taverns will be higher than normal.

The cruise ship port will become yours once you connect it to Gran Tortuga.

Tortuga Islands
A scenario map for Railroad Tycoon 3 by Lars Maischak, 2006
::------------------------------::

Scenario
The Tortuga Islands have long been known for their rum exports. Now, they hope to build a tourist trade. A new cruise ship port is under construction, and the government has chartered your railroad to run it. This way, the island can be preserved in its pristine state, without car traffic.

Requirements
This scenario requires the Coast to Coast Expansion Pack and the 1.05 patch.
For this map to work, you will also need to copy the included files (Passenger Port.gmp, Passenger Port.bty and Passenger Port.bca) to the Data\BuildingTypes directory.
::------------------------------::
Note (by Gumboots - 2020): I think the above advice is incorrect.
There is no reason for a .gmp (game map) file to be inside Data\BuildingTypes.
Building files are .bty and .bca only. The Passenger Port should work with those.
::------------------------------::

Add-Ons
You might want to download the separately available sound mods that accompany this scenario. If you install these sound files, you will hear the tourists partying and the Spanish-speaking population going about their day-to-day activities.

The Tourists
There are two types of tourists who come to the Tortugas.

- Ecotourists (passengers) explore the island on their own, visiting the historic sites.
- Resort tourists (troops) spend their vacations at resorts (barracks), sipping pina coladas and getting a tan. There will be no resort tourists until you connect the cruise ship port with Gran Tortuga!

Connecting to places that are of interest to these groups will increase the amount of visitors in each category. You should get into the tourist business, yourself: The income from hotels, restaurants, and taverns will be higher than normal.

The cruise ship port will become yours once you connect it to Gran Tortuga. It is a station that also doubles as a port, which produces and demands 5 loads of passengers, 1 load of mail, and 1 load of troops per year.

Acknowledgments
Thanks to PJay for making available the modified port/station (here used as a cruise ship port), and to Gwizz for coming up with the idea for this building!

1955-1975Tortuga-Inseln
