So i tried the 1.06 patch on my steam version of RT3 1.05. The patcher said i didnt have an exe that the patcher reconized. Assuming Steam played with the exe, can i get a 1.06 or 1.05 exe to swap in? Or should i do something else?

Long time follower of the site (thanks for all the cool train stuff over the years) and I too am wondering how I can get 1.06 to work on my Steam install of RRT3. Is this possible?

Sadly it will not work. Steam-version has some kind of a proprietary RT3.exe that cannot be patched.

Man, that's a bummer. I bought it from Steam cause I could not find my disc's but I may give finding them another try.

RT3 for $7.99 (plus shipping) in cd form.

try this...it has a 1.06 exe in it and it should work for you, if not try the 1.05 and patch that.

So this is what I did after having problems with my previous CD installation and resorting to Steam:

- installed RRT3 on Steam

- installed the "Visa Fix" engine.cfg file

- installed all but the "patch" option on 1.06 installer

- copied the RR3 file from the link above


It worked nicely.

Oh, sorry for the late answer. I copied the file to the Steam folder containing the RRT3 game.

I got that far as well but the 1.06 patched Steam version is asking me for a CD.
