Re: Rolling Stock skinning ideas

I've thought of just putting all the loose files into one big PK4. I figure either way should work, I just haven't done much with RRT3 since I got a new computer.

Re: Balance and realism issues with RT3 v1.06 locomotives

I was never able to get any other versions besides my own and the one with no "Lima Locomotive Works" on the tender. Since then, I've got a new computer that doesn't have RRT3 yet, and my old computer crashed shortly after.

Re: Firefly Reskinning Issue

So, even after removing the MIP maps and saving the dds files as A through F with their respected sizes manually (512x512 to 16x16), it's doing the same thing. I've seen it done before, so I know it's possible. There seems to be something I'm missing though. Anyone found a solution?

Re: Firefly Reskinning Issue

If seeing them would help, here are the textures I'm working with. They were reskinned from the Consolidation's files in the trainskin folder. http://www.mediafire.com/download/z5372xd27ur5dkx/MogulL_A.dds http://www.mediafire.com/download/qp6sexip2c95tyw/MogulT_A.dds http://www.mediafire.com/downlo...

Re: Firefly Reskinning Issue

I've found that by saving the A files as dds files with MIP maps, the B through F files aren't necessary to be included. Unfortunately, both at 1024x1024 and at 512x512, the textures still exhibit the same behavior as show in the Firefly pictures. I think I'm finally out of ideas at this point. Has ...

Re: Firefly Reskinning Issue

I've also tried resizing the original A texture to 1024x1024, then sizing the B through F textures from that one, but this doesn't seem to work either.

Re: Firefly Reskinning Issue

Digging up and old thread here, but I wasn't ever really able to get this figured out. I'm trying to give the Mogul a skin that isn't exactly like the default Consolidation skin, but it's doing the same thing the Firefly did, and that one still isn't fixed. Edit: On another note, along with the skin...

Re: Balance and realism issues with RT3 v1.06 locomotives

Wow, that bit of texture editing really makes the Berk look nice. Glad to know that everyone's enjoying it. For my own purposes, I might add the "Lima Locomotive Works" back onto the tender, cause I just like the way it looks. Other than that, I think it looks great.

Re: Balance and realism issues with RT3 v1.06 locomotives

I'd love to give it a download myself. The Berkshire was much more of an experiment to see if I could make a functioning locomotive, so at least it runs like one. It's cool to see it updated and looking better. That is, I think it does, as for some reason I can't seem to see the pictures or download...

Re: 2-8-4 Berkshire Questions

Hey, sorry I took so long to reply, been off the forums for a while. It's pretty cool that you were able to get the Berkshire to stop glowing, never could figure it out myself, even after messing with the alpha channels. As for the low resolution problem, I've never messed with that. I've got an old...

Re: GP 40 and SD 40 skins.

Upon using some of your custom SD40 skins in game, they seem to work fine at first. However, if I buy an SD40 with any of the custom skins, then save and exit the game, when I return to it the SD40 has taken on the default Soo Line scheme it comes with. This is something I've never really seen before.

Re: 2-8-4 Berkshire Questions

With a bit of Google searching and some experimentation, I finally got it. The Berkshire is officially complete and I will be uploading it to the site to be added to the new engines page. I just want to thank everyone, especially nedfumpkin and hawk, for helping me along and getting the engine compl...

When I try running the command I get an error stating "pack4 is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file".

Re: 2-8-4 Berkshire Questions

Well, I've decided against the alpha channels, as the look of the feedwater heater has grown on me. At this point, it's fully functional and in game. The only thing left to do is pack the individual files into a pk4 and it's ready for download. There is where the problem lies. I still haven't been a...

Re: 2-8-4 Berkshire Questions

I'll give it a try and let you know what happens. EDIT: The "normal" option didn't make any difference and the pack4 program still refuses to load. At this point I've put off the packing since it's technically working in game, and began to experiment with the alpha channels. I'm trying to ...

Re: 2-8-4 Berkshire Questions

Strangely enough, whenever I try to click on the pack4 program, whether from the TM kit or from the UserSkinningTools folder, the program simply flashes on the screen quickly and closes down.
