Re: Train Fever - Railway Game in Development

Meowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww~ That's nice they include freights. and the TF team decided that freight movements model will follow RT3. that is it is better not to do rail links to farms, mines, and industries directly should that branchline in question ...

Dancer in the Dark: Danish F-Unit in Great Northern paintings

A short question on the Danish film starring a top notch 'lunatic style' entertainer Björk. it won't be here if not because of the weird appearances of totally EUROPEAN locomotive in North American railroad paintscheme. the Danish version of EMD F-Unit (it looks shorter than any regular F units, dua...

Baldwin 0-6-0 Road Engines.

Googling of 'Baldwin 0-6-0' always ended up with Switchers, both steam heavy switcher and siderod diesel switchers. However in RT3. the 'Baldwin 0-6-0' is 1850s era engine available in North America and World settings. (Unless specified). it becomes available AFTER 4-2-0 Norris (Also American engine...

US Army Troop Train in 1943

Who owned these locomotives? this one seems to be the 4-6-2 Pacific but it is too powerful to be it. Pacific is best for Passenger services, worst at freights. but this one can haul as many as 30 full cars of mixed consists... troops on the front, Tanks and other vehicles at the rear, without caboos...

Okay. french RR history, but what about Siam? (And why the RR systems in Siam is sometimes called the 'Colonial Railroad' despite the fact that Siam never been fully annexed by any European empires. The local versions of RR history were quite politically biased. This is actually the real earliest ro...

Re: Romanian steam locomotive, Falkenber/Elster, Germany.

Connie and Pacific built in the US, It's not quite clear who built them. 1. Are these USRA design? 2. Are these built during first worldwar or second? 3. Were these engines bounded to Europe but never delivered before the war ended? (ones destined for Europe have chain & buffer couplers instead ...

Re: Eritrea Railways Mallets

I've also found out that the RR managements gently refused Foreign aid that might later leads to Dieselizations. instead those Eritreans made do with resources they already have. But soon the projects should attract DLM to work on yet another Modernsteam projects... to sell its narrow gauge Mick tan...

Eritrea Railways Mallets

So everyone here had already heard about this colonial railroad built by Italians, connecting the port of Massawa to Asmara, crossed mountainious and flat desert terrain, whacked by several decades of war, and only reconstructed recently. the lack of funds forced the railroad (state owned) to run it...

Re: Streamliners: Observation Car VS Locomotives on both ends.

^ yes i'm talkin' about rear end cars. The diesel-powered Amtrak trains were all locomotive-based, (usually hauled by one or two, but since the passenger train does not have a lenght of american freight trains) and very few passenger trains were sandwitched with the diesels. the control cab located ...

Re: Streamliners: Observation Car VS Locomotives on both ends.

Really? didn't the tail end of the AMTRAK passenger cars the control cab? ones that's actually a remote control device to the locomotive, once the train turned around at the terminus, engineer went there and assume control in the control cab.

Streamliners: Observation Car VS Locomotives on both ends.

So you're all railfans right? in 1930-1960 there were railroad phenomenon called 'Streamliners'. The Streamliners are specially designed passenger trainsets that not just have a good aerodynamics, but also wheeled temples of what's called 'Art Deco'-- a (successful) attempt to fuse the luxuries of t...

Moguls, Ten Wheelers, and Consolidations VS Belpaire Firebox and upg.

In "End of Steam" article written by William Sherrick, he said that one of many reasons why dieselizations of american railroads began (and finalized) in 50s. is that the post-victorian steam technology 'advanced too fast' .. and many railroads failed (or ignored to) keep pace with it (eit...

And that is because the crew might forget about either Moguls or the 2-4-0. or the Americans 4-4-0 released in 1855 (which are workhorses of many American railroads for 40 years or more) had been upgraded once new valvegear has been introduced. or the 4-4-0s built in 1870 is more powerful than the 1...

Do all of them uses same-ol Stephenson valvegear?? The railroads that import ones intended to use this for...
