Re: Coast to Coast 1.04 crashing the game.
Offhand, not sure what's happening with that. 1.00 is a very old disc. You may have to patch it sequentially: 1.00 > 1.01 > 1.02 > 1.03 >1.04 This site has 1.03 available , but not 1.01 and 1.02. I don't know where you would get hold of those. Honestly, if you don't mind spending a few bucks, the ea...

Re: Any scenarios I might not have played to be recommended
Durango and Silverton is a very simple game, but quite good fun for a quick play occasionally. It was the first map where someone figured out how to apply satellite shots for terrain painting. Durango & Silverton 1.0 - a google-made map The load requirement in AoS IV is quite easy as long as you...

Re: NSW - North, south & west
I've started playing this scenario again (first game in quite a while) and I'm already having a few thoughts. With only four towns in the Newcastle area there is not much going on, so the Newcastle section rapidly stagnates. Gosford can be connected to add a fifth town, but that requires quite a bit...

Re: Writing Events to Count Trains?
Aha! Brainwave! It can be made to work. ::!**! The relevant event trigger option is "When track or a station is placed". Stations are always a fixed price, in whole $k, so you could set company cash to loco(s) purchase price + one small station ($50k). That would allow using a small statio...

Re: NSW - North, south & west
Had an idea re limiting debt levels via credit ratings and prime interest rates. I'm not going to implement it on this scenario, but the concept may be useful elsewhere. With this scenario I ended up having prime rate increases, and credit rating decreases, kicking in at $2M, $4M and $6M debt. These...

Re: Writing Events to Count Trains?
Just thought of something else. This may not work... Ok, how to prevent this? If you buy the legitimate number of locos, your company cash after the purchases will be exactly 0. If you cheat by letting trains crawl into stations, then buying more locos than you should, it is very unlikely that your ...

Re: Writing Events to Count Trains?
For some unknown reason, I was just thinking about this again. It just popped into my head after a long absence. Anyway... I may still set up a test example of the events proposed earlier in this thread: the ones that aim to allow purchasing pre-defined numbers of particular classes, for both one de...

Re: Any scenarios I might not have played to be recommended
Hi. Your best option is probably to look through the threads rather than the archives. Threads started after 2010 will usually be for scenarios created after that year, and you will be able to see feedback and strategy ideas for each scenario. Out of scenarios I have tried myself, these are good (IM...

Re: Hello Everyone - good to be here
Hi. :) Welcome to the forum, and sorry about the slow post approval. I haven't been checking in much over Christmas, and was just using the "unread posts" link to check for new posts. Anyway, glad you eventually got it running. Feel free to post your notes if you like. RT3 running on new(i...

Re: unable to download RT3 Scenario maps
Downloading any map is simply a matter of clicking the link that says "Download", over at the right side. That will take you to the file page at MediaFire. Then you click the big blue "Download" button, and save the zip to whatever folder you want to save it to. If there are diff...

Re: Cargo/raw material
I've never played the GoG version but as far as I know its gameplay is exactly the same as the CD version. RoR has played the GoG version of the game, and he's right into strategising in depth. He never mentioned any problems with how it plays. A textile mill will produce clothing at the start of th...

Re: Raw material /as in old days/
Raw materials are produced by things like mines, farms, logging camps, fertiliser factories, etc. Yes, you can ship them to other destinations for production of other cargoes, or just for consumption by houses, etc.

Re: Cargo/raw material
This is normal for any version of RT3. Cargo moves across the map (slowly) if there is a price gradient between two areas. You are getting it confused with the RT2 cargo model, which was different.

Re: Express D'Orient
I was just idly thinking of playing this one again, and checked out the events. The loco customisation events (that start in the 1890's) are weird. Three of the options work the way you'd think: they just boost whatever for 5 years (or do nothing for Option #4). Option #1 is the strange one. Among o...

Re: Something different: hydrogen-powered trains.
And, yep, Romania has now cancelled that order for hydrogen trains. They are now looking to get another (better) tender for the hydrogen units, but are also looking at battery-powered units too. Romanian Railway Authority cancels procurement of 12 hydrogen-powered trains Romania’s Railway Reform Aut...

Re: Kicking ideas around...
I have figured out something about my lack of motivation to play RT3. The classic RT3 scenario goes: Start with next to nothing > pig around for ages, desperately trying to get something happening > stuff starts happening. I can't be bothered with the first stages anymore. I want to be entertained, ...

Re: Industry proximity to station question
Primary producers (farms, mines, etc) will produce cargo as long as the price for their product is high enough to cover their costs and make a profit. You can see this by checking the cargo map. If it's green for that cargo, producers in that area will do pretty well. No trains or stations are requi...
