Re: Germantown
What really helped me a lot was when someone built a Munitions Plant in Ft. Wayne a couple of years before the Civil War started. Needless to say, I made a KILLING hauling ammo for the Union Army. It's even more fun if you get a map that has good supplies of iron north and south. Then you can make ...

Re: General management strategies
I don't mind having crashes in the game. Trains do crash occasionally, so it's realistic to have the odd crash here and there. I just like to keep them to a minimum (as would any real railroad). If I get more than three over a 25 year scenario I know something is going wrong somewhere. Often I get b...

Re: Italy 1946
This has always been one of my favourite scenarios. There's just something cool about Italy, and when a friend told me it was impossible to get gold with steam I just had to prove him wrong. Story is that it is definitely possible to get gold, with all steam*, on Expert setting. In fact on a g...

General management strategies
Apparently I went and put my foot into a long-running debate here, that being "To caboose or not to caboose". There are a couple of other things I usually do with regard to train management too, which I gather are not normal for a lot of people. Thought we might as well kick ideas around a...

Sounds interesting. I'll take a look at it once I get another copy of the game. ![cheers (0!!0)](./images/smilies/cheers.gif)

Re: Mexico
Preach on! Your strategy is true for most games; get the industry base started first, lay rails second. But start with care. The first 2-3 industries you start with will either make or break your game. Building up your industry while building out your railroad will catapult you into the upper ranks...

Re: Mexico
I agree that this is a tough scenario. I found it exasperatingly difficult until I decided to buy and build industries before building railroads. The area around the iron mines is good for a tool and die. Once the coal and iron mines become intermixed, steel mills really pay off. Then the products ...

Just found this site. Cool stuff. I hadn't played RRT3 for years, and picked up a bootleg copy recently to play with on my old XP box, just to see if I still liked it. Answer is yes. XP box died, so methinks the shiny new W7 box deserves a legit copy of the game, which I'll organise shortl...
