Re: A few small changes.
I'll be making a few more small tweaks to the site soon. The current log in form is a bit messy, particularly on a phone. I do use the site from my phone sometimes. so I'll be changing the log in form to use a simple pop-up that is consistent on desktop and mobile. This gives a cleaner look and is g...

Re: 3DP Files Error Crashes
Ah, I'd forgotten about the default install path. Using a desktop folder (or any folder except Program Files) is always much better.
dgVoodoo is the best way to fix textures and other issues. The old "Vista fix" should really not be used anymore.

Re: 3DP Files Error Crashes
Offhand, no. I have a vague suspicion that Windows has been screwing with things over the last year or so, since I noticed my installations were becoming unstable too. In my case RT3 has decided to crash whenever goals for a medal are met, which makes things awkward. I am beginning to think the best...

Re: Exporting RT3 Maps to other games?
There are no separate height maps available for any of the default PopTop maps, or any third party maps based on them. The only way of getting height information for any of those maps is by extracting it from the .gmp. Maps I made from scratch were taken from .tiff's, via MicroDEM, so the .tiff's ar...

Re: Exporting RT3 Maps to other games?
Hi. This is one of those things that is undoubtedly possible in theory, but a bit of a nuisance in practice. The .bmp image is just for the terrain painting, and has nothing to do with the actual height map. I know where the height map information is in the .gmp file, and I know how to read it, but ...

Re: Is there an industry chart for 1.06?
I made a spreadsheet for it, which is pretty detailed. This is in .ods format (for Open Office or Libre Office).
It could be converted to Microsoft .xls/.xlsx format, but anything from Excel 2016 on can open .ods files anyway.

The img tag is for displaying images that are already online somewhere. For example, this the image for the Mogul locomotive rebuild/reskins on the site's Railroad Tycoon 3 - New locomotives page. http://hawkdawg.com/img/rrt/rt3/xtras/Gumboots/Gumboots_Mogul_Rebuild_and_Reskin_screenshots.jpg [img]h...

Re: Coast to Coast 1.04 crashing the game.
I suspect from memory you should install from CD, install patch 1.03 and then turn of hardware T&L before upgrading to 1.04 etc. (settings -> graphics and check disable hardware T&L) If I recall there may be a configuration file on here you can use and avoid reinstalling. If you search old ...

Re: Coast to Coast 1.04 crashing the game.
I might just buy Steam version at some point, probably the bundle on sale with rrt II platinum and Sid's Railroads. The bundle was on sale recently for around $10 Canadian, even cheaper us. Do you know what version steam sells? Steam sells their own modified version of the game. Unlike the GOG vers...

Re: Coast to Coast 1.04 crashing the game.
Offhand, not sure what's happening with that. 1.00 is a very old disc. You may have to patch it sequentially: 1.00 > 1.01 > 1.02 > 1.03 >1.04 This site has 1.03 available , but not 1.01 and 1.02. I don't know where you would get hold of those. Honestly, if you don't mind spending a few bucks, the ea...

Hi. Welcome to the forum.
It's a fairly quiet place these days, but feel free to ask anything you feel like asking, and to start your own topics.

Re: Any scenarios I might not have played to be recommended
Durango and Silverton is a very simple game, but quite good fun for a quick play occasionally. It was the first map where someone figured out how to apply satellite shots for terrain painting. Durango & Silverton 1.0 - a google-made map The load requirement in AoS IV is quite easy as long as you...

Re: NSW - North, south & west
I've started playing this scenario again (first game in quite a while) and I'm already having a few thoughts. With only four towns in the Newcastle area there is not much going on, so the Newcastle section rapidly stagnates. Gosford can be connected to add a fifth town, but that requires quite a bit...

Re: Writing Events to Count Trains?
Aha! Brainwave! It can be made to work. ::!**! The relevant event trigger option is "When track or a station is placed". Stations are always a fixed price, in whole $k, so you could set company cash to loco(s) purchase price + one small station ($50k). That would allow using a small statio...

Re: NSW - North, south & west
Had an idea re limiting debt levels via credit ratings and prime interest rates. I'm not going to implement it on this scenario, but the concept may be useful elsewhere. With this scenario I ended up having prime rate increases, and credit rating decreases, kicking in at $2M, $4M and $6M debt. These...

Re: Writing Events to Count Trains?
Just thought of something else. This may not work... Ok, how to prevent this? If you buy the legitimate number of locos, your company cash after the purchases will be exactly 0. If you cheat by letting trains crawl into stations, then buying more locos than you should, it is very unlikely that your ...

Re: Writing Events to Count Trains?
For some unknown reason, I was just thinking about this again. It just popped into my head after a long absence. Anyway... I may still set up a test example of the events proposed earlier in this thread: the ones that aim to allow purchasing pre-defined numbers of particular classes, for both one de...
