Re: Autumn Observations In Your Corner Of The World
I love fall season - partly because it's football season! But summer sure goes by too fast here. On the western Canadian prairie we had a cooler than normal summer. The leaves are starting to turn, and we've had a couple light frosts in the last week. Day time highs are about 15 (roughly 60 F. for t...

Re: Reviews / Reports of Building to Buffalo
It is always a pleasure to read that others have enjoyed a scenario I've created. But to get applause from another very accomplished scenario creator - that is especially meaningful!

Re: I made it to ENGINEER!!!
Congratulations, Grandma! I noticed a few days ago that your post then was #498 so I was prepared for another opportunity to hoist a root beer! (0!!0) Always glad for a reason to do so. :-D Just give the whistle signal when you need the brakes applied by lowly lads like myself. Am I correct in think...

Re: Which would you choose?
I'm with Hawk in his first post in this thread; I'ld keep my compact. I'ld never buy a Hummer, and can't even imagine buying a big SUV. Perhaps I need more imagination. :-) I was happy to fill up my van (I've a family of 6, and we often provide transportation for others) with relatively inexpensive ...

RT3 still available in stores
I haven't seen RT3 in any store in western Canada for a long time. I wanted to buy a 2nd copy months ago, and ending up buying it (just the cd only) on the internet as I couldn't find it any where else. But I was in northern Idaho last week and took my wife to a Target store, as I knew she would app...

Re: Warning! If you work with steam, please read!
Great story, wsherrick, and an excellent lesson, too! !**yaaa Thanks for telling it. Sounds like Mr. Purdie was a good judge of character. The fact that you told the truth when you were on the hot seat, and the truth was going to get you in trouble, meant you had the character to be worth a second c...

Re: Congratulate Me, Boys!
!**yaaa Bravo for kicking the habit, Grandma! And your serious tip shows excellent insight into the behaviour of we humans. We develop patterns where one activity, or emotion, links to another, and can gradually lead us into a chain of detrimental things. Glad to hear you're breaking that tobacco ch...

Re: Reviews of Building to the Great West
I got a message from President Lincoln after he was shot! The words of an old teacher describe this situation: "He, being dead, yet speaketh!" I think I know what I did wrong to cause that. And some of the newspapers aren't working quite right - they're getting mixed up with one of ...

Building to the Great West
Nedfumpkin says: One trick I learned is to lay track across the path of the competitors and then stick a maintenance facility to prevent them from expanding. Ned, have you tried connecting your railroad to the end of one of your competitors? That, too, hinders their expansion and will also draw thei...

Re: A big thank you to the Scenario creators
Ostlandr, your words of appreciation are very appropriate, and appreciated by this scenario creator. Making a new map is very time consuming, and there is a huge learning curve working in the editor for the first time. But I'm like WP&P, I've got a couple good (in my opinion) ideas for scenarios...

Re: Reviews of Building to the Great West
I've sent Hawk a corrected version of Building to the Great West which has the proper five logos to go with the scenario. I also added an event so that during the Civil War years, a game message (scrolling text that appears in the top left of the game screen) will report every 3 months how many troo...

Re: Reviews of Building to the Great West
As steelm noted above, two of the logos I packaged with the scenario are incorrect. For the first 88 people who have downloaded this, I have attached a zip file with what I believe are the two correct logos. Add the two logos to the UserExtraContent file in the Data file of your game, and the logos ...

Re: Reviews of Building to the Great West
I'll respond to several other comments. I had a bit of trouble getting down to whatever town it was that you had to haul the civil war goods to, so I missed out on the bonuses. I couldn't haul enough troops because there was only one barracks in Iowa City that was producing troops! :-x I don't think...

It is very gratifying to hear reports from those who've tried a scenario I've created, and likely other scenario designers feel the same way. I have just a few minutes to respond to some comments. silver was mine at 1868 Exceptionally well done, steelm, for a first time result! I bow to your superio...

Reviews of Building to the Great West
::!**! Whoo Hooo! The second scenario in my planned Historical Builders trilogy is finished! Building to the Great West has been sent to Hawk and should be posted soon. It is very rooted in history, giving you the chance to build west from Chicago to the transcontinental railroad, but it also gives ...

Re: Hidden Agenda
once you heat steel to those temperatures it bends like rubber I don't recall all the details precisely, but I read an informative article about the collapse of the World Trade Center towers some time after it happened. It quoted a number of structural engineers and architects. The fire did not hav...

Re: Goals
I don't care for Industry Profit as a goal since I want to focus on my railroad and not other businesses. Apart from that, I like a mix of goals that are appropriate for the scenario. I particularly like it when the scenario has two or more competing goals so that I have to balance one thing against...
