Re: Flying Scottsman Campaign
I'm replaying the Campaign and am in the middle of this scenario right now. This is my 3rd time through the Campaign (all played on Hard) and I agree with Biker Tim that this is the easiest one of them all. This time I started by linking Manchester and Birmingham and the money just rolls in. I may n...

Re: Railroad Board Games
I have both games and enjoy them. When you buy Ticket to Ride you also get a password so you can play online. While online games lack the personal interaction of face-to-face, you can play a game faster that way - 30 minutes or less for a 4 player game. It is a simple game so easy to teach non-gamer...

Re: The Baghdad Railway
I started this scenario for the first time recently (on Hard). I met the Bronze requirements fairly quickly but have no hope of more than that; I decided to play it out to the end to see what happens. I came looking for this thread for hints to help me, as I have no way to get more track allotment. ...

Re: American Civil War
Did anyone else get told they lost the war and then the next year they won? I just finished Civil War and developed a very large railroad in the north. I failed in the first war mission (to Kentucky) but succeeded in the Tennessee and Alabama missions. Then I failed the Georgia mission (was 1 short...

Re: Flu shot research
The different between the bird flu and the swine flu, is one requires treatment and the other ointment I think the bird flu requires tweetment and the swine flu requires oinkment ! :-) There have already been some cases of N1H1 in our small community. I don't think I'll get the vaccination. The odd...

Re: Louisville & Nashville
I downloaded this scenario long ago and finally played it this past weekend. Great fun! Lama, I really like your requirement to connect to a city and then haul $1 million dollars of cargo to it. First try I began well enough but got stuck when I took over an AI railroad without first checking to see...

EPH, I love your idea! I am working on a scenario of the Lackawanna in it's early days, and I am trying to do some of the same things you are. Since I'm just a little further along in the process than you are, I'll share my technique in hopes it may help. However, I'm not far enough along to have te...

Re: Help Needed on Reading RR info
Thanks for the tip, Ned. There are some helpful maps there. It appears that there were other railroads north of Pottsville, but they were all shortlines that had not yet been absorbed by the Reading or Pennsy.

Help Needed on Reading RR info
I'm working on a new scenario in the Pennsylvania - New York region that begins in 1855. The map will have the major railroads (run by AI) that were already built at that time. Can anyone tell me if the Philadelphia & Reading RR (commonly know by it's more modern name of Reading) extended north ...

Re: Adding Cities
There's a limit to the number of cities? What is the number? I hit the maximum limit in developing both Building to Buffalo and Building to the Great West and if my memory is accurate, that maximum number is 126. If you can keep your number closer to 100 as JayEff suggests, that is probably a good ...

Re: Stuck Service Tower
I've seen this happen many times, and I agree with Popeye. It happens when I doubletrack the rails in front of a service tower while a train is taking on water. If you wait until the tower is not in operation, you can double-track with no problem.

Question about Different Gauge Tracks
I've taken a break from RT for several months while I read up on the economic news to figure out what is going on in the world. That done, I'm planning a new scenario. Is there a way to simulate the different track gauges? I want to have some pre-built AI railroads of different gauges. Is there a wa...

Re: Merry Christmas Card To All
Thank you, wsherrick, for your good wishes and good pictures. The first photo certainly captures the weather of the season in the Great White North. And the second has great symbolism in the station name. !*th_up*! Christmas is about the birth of Jesus who came to bring new hope to a world without h...

You're welcome. Probably 90% of the posters here know more about solving computer problems than I do. But even a stopped clock tells the correct time twice a day, and this was one of my times!

I'm no computer expert so this is just a shot in the dark. Could the problem be that you are using the latest version of Java? I recently had a game program quit working for me that I had used many times. Discovered that it could not handle the latest version of Java which I had recently updated. I ...

America's economic troubles
Railfans, I recently discovered a set of video clips called "The Crash Course" which I found very interesting. It is produced by Chris Martenson and can be seen at his website: http://www.chrismartenson.com/ On the home page of his site he says: If you are brand new to this site, I'd like ...

Re: Dumb Tourists
In my youth I worked several summers at a gondola that carried tourists to the top of Sulpher Mountain in Banff National Park. One lady, enjoying the mountain top view, was looking at the higher Sundance Range to the west and asked, "Is that real snow over there?" **!!!** Uhh, no ma'am. Th...

Re: Slow trains in the Canadian Rockies
Robo, thanks for the pictures. I love the spiral tunnels district and before family responsibilities tied me down, I used to spend several days there every year camping, hiking and rail fanning. Your top picture shows the train passing through the Mount Stephen tunnel (on the right) and a concrete s...
