Re: The PCB RT3-Motive-Division.
It's probably not hard to update the plug-in for 2.8. I just haven't bothered looking into it yet. I did figure out some handy tweaks to the initial code, without knowing any Python at all, and just winging it based on what the code looked like, so I suspect that I would be able to sort a 2.8 versi...

Re: The PCB RT3-Motive-Division.
Definitely have a copy of Photoshop. It's my go-to tool for my side-job as a graphic designer. (And why I ask you for PSD files.) Victory is mine! The GP7 is in Blender 2.79. I guess it's time to find your thread and get a version of the plugin for Blender 2.8, or figure out 2.79. I'd prefer the for...

Re: The PCB RT3-Motive-Division.
Yep, installed it already, lives in my UserExtraContent folder like a bunch of stuff. There's some fixes I'd like to see done (Improve the valve gear a bit for a start, but I'll need to poke at the models a little more.) My plans for the Challenger are to paint it in the greyhound scheme, to reflect...

The PCB RT3-Motive-Division.
Well, I need some place to put my stuff, and since Gumboots doesn't want to work on diesels (No offense Gummy), I'm putting stuff in this thread. First off, I'm going to finish repairing the Poptop GP7s and getting them ready for distribution. I did eventually figure out what secondary skin for the ...

Re: Changing Engine and Horn/Whistle sounds: A Guide.
Okay, something interesting happened. When I went above 08, in the 3s column, the game didn't crash or throw any sort of error. It just defaulted to 00, which goes to rt3_chug_steam_01.wav. So my AMD-103 made choofer sounds. And it didn't matter how high I raised it, it just went back to the steamer...

Re: Cargo weight revamping
I like that idea actually. It'd focus them around what they usually haul and not have them everywhere.

Re: Cargo weight revamping
Not sure it really needs a whole 'nother pack. It's just a .car file. I could throw it in my pack as an alternative (in its own "Alternative F era" folder) in case anyone else hates saving the whales. :D How about I just link it in my sig for now? That's fine. Though I don't hate the whal...

Re: Cargo weight revamping
Well the thing is they change weight, so really should have G era .car files. But you could just re-use the same models if you felt like it. I had to do that for stock cars, because they weren't built after 1980 anyway. Which is what I did. I only modified the model references in the *.car file so ...

Re: Changing Engine and Horn/Whistle sounds: A Guide.
Okay, now the guide to what goes with that, this is for 16 column mode. In the 3s Column - Engine sounds. 00 - rt3_chug_steam_01.wav 01 - rt3_chug_steam_02.wav 02 - rt3_chug_steam_03.wav 03 - rt3_chug_steam_04.wav 04 - rt3_chug_electric_01.wav 05 - rt3_chug_electric_02.wav 06 - rt3_chug_diesel_01.wa...

Re: Changing Engine and Horn/Whistle sounds: A Guide.
Something tells me that it'll have to involve unpacking/repacking the RT3SoundTrains.PK4 file, because that's the only source the game seems to pull from. There's a extra hornsound installed with the 1.06 patch, but it's never used in game as far as I know. I'll figure out if there's any sort of ord...

Changing Engine and Horn/Whistle sounds: A Guide.
I'm sure many users sometimes want a locomotive to use a different horn or engine sounds, for whatever reason. I figured this out because I wanted the horn the AMD-103 had in RT2 instead of the weird one it originally had in RT3. Well, I've figured out how to do it, through trial and error, and comp...

Honestly, I think I did. I got the same bug again.

Re: Cargo weight revamping
I was just thinking about extending the G era from 1975 to 9999, and making that the F era, not a whole new set of models.
Time to figure out how to do RT3 coding, again, because it's been years since I've done it.

And now the thread I was posting has gone missing. (Cargo Weight Revamp).

Forum not acknowledging posts until after they are posted.
Well, I've been having a problem with posting lately. I seem to having a lot of incidents when a post goes through, but the system says it doesn't until the editor is reloaded. It goes something like this. 1. Type reply to thread. 2. Hit reply button and wait a bit. 3. System says that you should re...

Re: Cargo weight revamping
Gumboots,
Could you make a tank car set without the Rail Whales? As much as I like them, and they were a common fixture here in Southeast Louisiana, they didn't last too long, with retirements beginning in the early 1970s, and only tended to be a small part of the overall tank car fleet.

Nice and slick, and easily useable and readable.
Though I see this on the RT3 Main page, probably because the individual archive pages aren't done yet.

Re: Getting a updated skin to work...
Gumboots, Yes, I have seen it, and while it's a excellent piece of work, I'm not the biggest fan of it. 1: I tend to like paint-jobs with high contrast. This of course, a matter of taste. 2: It's not what comes to mind when I think of a GP7B. There were factory-built EMD GP7Bs, and Jim's units don't...

Re: Getting a updated skin to work...
Victory is mine! Turns out I turned on the mipmaps, which was causing the fuzzy glow with the alpha. Gumboots mentioning that one shouldn't turn on the mipmaps tipped me off to that being a possible issue. Reexported everything without mipmaps, and no fuzzy glow to be seen. RT3_09_13_20__13_13_19.jp...

Re: Getting a updated skin to work...
That's exactly what I did for this. Here's how I went about it. 1. Take A texture extracted from PK4, make modifications. 2. Take B through G textures from PK4, shrink A RGB layers to fit B through G, without modifying what was supposed to be a working alpha channel on any of the textures. 3. Export...
