Re: Bug Reports

99.9999% of all computer errors are after all more correctly called end user errors... At my first job the programmers referred to those as "user headspace errors". 8-) I would disagree with your percentage, but then my home computer is still running Win98 SE. Believe me, when the compute...

Re: User info in the Pro-Series

Every other forum I've ever used has it on the left, so having it on the right looks "weird" to me at the moment. Over time, though, I may come to like it. ProudCanadian has a point about being able to see both the post text and the user info. You'd think the forum software would just have...

Thanks to Wolverine's elegantly-designed test, it seems pretty clear that the condition IF RANDOM1-100 > x AND RANDOM1-100 < y must use two different randomly-generated numbers. Granted, his test had the less-then/greater-than operators in the reverse order, but if the RT3 designers set it up so tha...

I always wondered what the difference was between hot cocoa and hot chocolate. After reading that I'm still wondering, but at least I know why it's called hot cocoa now! 8)

I suspect he meant contact info for our friends/family, so that if one of us drops dead we'll be able to find that out from someone else.

Another forum I hang out in recently switched over from phpBB to VBulletin, in large part because of security issues -- somebody apparently found a phpBB security hole and was exploiting it there. The initial changeover was pretty messy -- I think it ended up taking a couple of DAYS longer than it w...

"A man sees what he wants to see and disregards the rest" Simon & Garfunkel, circa 1968 One of my favorite Simon & Garfunkel songs, Grandma Ruth; thanks for bringing it to mind. The words are off just a little, though. It's "a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards th...

Yeah, that sounds pretty disgusting. Of course, the floor being so dirty is also not a good indication of the restaurant's general cleanliness, either, regardless of what they do with food dropped on it. Sounds like you're better off eating elsewhere, indeed.

Gorgeous photos! My wife loved them, too, even though she started tearing up a bit. She's from Milwaukee originally, and living out here in California, she really misses snow. Whereas I take my father's attitude toward the stuff. He was from Milwaukee, too, but one reason he picked San Francisco to ...

Last time Debbie and I were in there we saw the cook drop some food on the floor, reached down and picked it up and threw it back on the grill. Haven't been in there since. Did it break the 5 Second rule??? :P Oh yea! It fell under the grill (the dirtiest, nastiest part of the floor) and he had to ...

Also, ChrisW, your hotel/restaurant suggestions worked great. I was playing the Canada map, and saw Ottawa had 20 loads of passengers available. So I tried a hotel there. I had about 50 customers in a year. :) Cool. 8) Right...but only one half of a parenthese at the end of the name & none at t...

When deciding whether to place hotels/taverns/restaurants, I check the Stations list in the ledger, which shows how many freight loads and express loads are waiting at each station. If a station has a noticeably higher number of express loads than freight loads, or has more express loads than most o...

Thanks, Orange and CV. I can see how that would help in the mountains, then, but somehow that doesn't sound like a 50% reduction overall including the non-mountain tracks. Oh, well, it's a game, not a simulation. 8)

Uh, I believe dj is not talking about a DVD for the game itself, but for a user-created disk that has a ton of RRT3 maps on it, for which Hawk posted a link to the .ISO file in this thread here. So it should be perfectly legal.
