Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

Oh here's something Milo might know the answer too. From another thread: "Was just wondering about something. 1.05 and under have a 100 limit on locos, IIRC, and I think 1.06 has 129. How is this actually decided? What I mean is that back when looking through some of the .exe hex I noticed tha...

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

As far as cargoes go, I count 51 in the 1.06 release and 52 being the stated limit. I may also go ahead and make another cargo to use that last slot for this patch. Test it carefully. I hit some instabilities trying to use that last slot, and suspect there are some off-by-one bugs still hiding in t...

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

Here's the install script, anyway. I've attached some of the dev notes too, but as they're mostly rambling about disassembled code, I'm not sure how much they'll help.

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

And no kidding on the dust! Hard to believe it's been seven years since 1.06 went out. Great to see a new generation of modders take on the grand old game. I do still have development notes and the scripts for building the 1.06 package if anyone wants them. Unfortunately can't promise time, though.

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

I have been reading around to gather up what had been already discovered in the past as far as limits on game resources and came up with this: ... I am a bit confused,as he has set aside more than 21 name descriptors for new buildings. I could have sworn that I had constructed more than 11 new buil...

Re: TM versus RRT3 1.06

It may be possible to 'skin' cargoes, much the way locomotives are skinnable. I never got it working stably during 1.06 testing, but in theory RT3's just limited to 52 distinct cargoes per scenario.

Re: 1.06 features in TM?

As a professional programmer (these days better spelled as 'software engineer', but I'm simply a 59 years old mathematician lurking around by means of PCs) I would like to "figure out the 1.06 source code". Is there really any RT3 source code available (I know I'm stupid, but: in which pr...

Re: 1.06 features in TM?

So here I am all curious as a cat trying to figure out the 1.06 source code. It comes with the patch. Does anyone know how to read this stuff? I suspect there is a gold mine of useful information in there that could well be useful with TM. It's a bit of a mess, and worse, I think it's incomplete. F...

1.06 on Mac and Linux for desperate people

Discovered it's possible to get 1.06 running under Wine on Linux, and the same approach should work for Intel-based Macs. Unfortunately you'll need a PC running Windows XP for part of the setup. Here's how I got RT3 running on 64-bit Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex, using the commercial version of Wine from Cr...

Re: Graphics Aren't up to their Settings

I don't think it's the resolution. On Vista with a pair of 4850s, I've noticed that textures start out at high detail, then almost immediately switch to a far lower level of detail. Water's rendered terribly as well. Not sure if it's a LOD problem, a Vista bug, or an issue with the shaders.

Re: Can you do that?

Out of curiosity, what are the current reported problems with CtC, 1.05, or 1.06 on Vista? Happened to have a new box (2x ATi 4850, i7) with Vista Home Premium SP1 and tried installing the game. Told it 'no' when asked to install DirectX 8.1B. 1.05 and 1.06 come up fine, but drop back to low texture...

Re: Bug Reports

See previous message. Uninstall 1.06, copy your 1.05 NoCD executable to rt3.exe, and reinstall 1.06. You should then have 1.06 NoCD.

Re: Bug Reports

The 1.06 patch can upgrade either the original 1.05 or the NoCD version, and it doesn't change the executable size. Instead of putting the original 1.05 exe in before the upgrade, you should probably have left the NoCD version in place. If you start the 1.05 NoCD.exe, you're playing a 1.05 game and ...

Re: RRT3 Going Nukular

RT3 does have a fixed number of cargo type slots. Original intent with 1.06 was that, rather than adding new user-defined cargos, we'd skin existing cargos with similar behavior (coffee as a skin for tea, for example)... but I don't think I finished the code to support it. I do remember that 1.06 ca...

Re: 1.06 Patch and Other add-ons (extras)

The 1.06 patch includes a version of the loco pack newer than 1.0. It's not a serious problem if you install the older pack - nothing changed with the locomotive file format, so they all work. The one issue that may crop up is if you decide to uninstall the 1.06 patch after installing the loco pack;...

Re: Taking Over Assets of Out of Business Companies

Shoot - that was a bug I wanted to fix in 1.06 and forgot about.

Only workaround I've found is to create another company. The bankrupt one then shows up on the list of companies that can be merged with.
