Hello From My Log Cabin In the Mountians

Hi everybody, I have a minute to check in a say hello and hope all is well. I have moved from my old house up to the Poconos. I bought a log cabin up on top of a mountian. Boy does it get cold up here! But not to worry, I've got plenty of coal to keep the fires warm. I have a few pictures of it I ho...

Re: Review Of Age Of Steam II-Green Diamond

Thank you very much for the compliments and I am truly happy that you are enjoying the Scenario. The insane coal prices are not done on purpose. If you switch over from wood to coal, the price for it goes up a little. Maybe that is what is throwing the price off later in the game. Feel free to go in...

Hi Everybody, I hope all are doing well. I'm still going through the training program at New Jersey Transit. I am in the Qualifying portion of the program. I have to qualify on all of the lines that I will run on. It's very difficult. You must remember by heart every detail of each line. Every sidin...

For WP&P and everyone else too.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_pLXfkgw_w The N&W A Class doing what it was designed to do. By the way I still have my nose to the grind stone at my new job with New Jersey Transit. So for so good. Two more weeks of class then on to actually running trains. I was questioned by my instructors a...

Re: Steam Lives!

Here are a few more. I'll make them a little smaller. As you can see the old wives tales about how much steam pollutes in relation to diesel is also blown out of the water. If it matters to anyone. Okay, now I have to go back and study for my big electric/diesel exam that is coming up this tuesday a...

Re: Steam Lives!

Steam locomotive design has continued to be improved by a few dedicated geniuses, who have slowly been gaining more and more credibility over the past few years. The graphs here illustrate just how superior modern steam locomotives are compared to their ancestors and their diesel counterparts. The c...

Re: Steam Lives!

I heard about steam turbine/ electric locomotive experiments that I believe were in the 1950's. With the long startup and shut down times they would probably only be practical in longer runs. If you want to know how much steam costs versus diesel. Please go to the Railroad History Section we have r...

Superlative Job WP&P!!!

I just got the A Class that WP&P has just finished and I am extremely impressed with it. Everyone should add it to your rosters. The fireman/engineer leaning out of the cab is a beautiful touch. Thanks Michael for putting in so much effort on one of my favorite engines. And it's the 1218 too!!

Hi Gang

I know I haven't been around much lately, but; I have been peeking in when I can grab a minute or two. I've been busy with a new job with New Jersey Transit. Even though I have been an engineer for years as you well know, I still have to go through their training course. It is very intensive and onl...

Re: Causing Trouble On The Railfan Site

The only rational alternative for the future of the Railroad industry is to invest in modern steam power. Please review the link below and look at this presentation with the most current available data. Coal is cheap and we have plenty of it and the Railroad Industry is the most efficient way to use...

Autumn Observations In Your Corner Of The World

I thought I would start a topic that everyone can participate in without politics, etc. I am always excited when the Summer comes to a close because I just don't like hot weather. The Prognosticators are predicting a colder than average Winter for most of the North American Continent and a general c...

I would have loved to go, and I will again in the future. I should've warned you that there is not any night life (except for the varmits in the woods) and very few places to eat that stay open late. If you like the outdoors and are into camping and hiking it is the place to be. I hope you enjoyed y...

Re: Get improved gas milage now - not a gimmick!

Here is one of the most excellent talks I have seen about the current insanity over made made global warming.
The facts are-there is no man made global warming. The planet is not warming at all, but really getting cooler.
Please watch and please consider.
