Re: Another Connie (coz we need an uglier one)

Thanks for the clarification. I really need to get back into this game.

Re: Another Connie (coz we need an uglier one - zip on page 4)

Ok, tis done. If anyone is wondering what changed: 1/ There were a couple of minor mesh-related shading niggles, so I fixed those. 2/ I added some rivets to the cowcatcher, just because I could and I thought it needed them. 3/ The first skin was a bit too clean. It almost looked like an express loc...

Hearts of Iron IV now a train simulator?

So there's a WW2 simulator game called Hearts of Iron IV. I don't play it personally because I still haven't graduated from Hearts of Iron 2 (the semi-official Darkest Hour mod specifically). But apparently last November they released a DLC that revamped the supply system and included trains includi...

Re: Reinstalled RT3 on Win10!

So I've downloaded a few Scenarios from here and loaded them up to see what the maps look like, and what objectives are etc. Not actually played any of them as I quit each after about 10 minutes. But I noticed that some have locomotives available that clearly should not be there, such as a scenario...

Re: Cargo weight revamping

Thanks! I think I actually found your post where that zip came from and I think you are right.

As for the reefer skins, I'm looking forward to them because the progress you showed from 2018 looked great. Hope that counts as enough noise, but do what you need to do.

Re: Faster than mallard?

I believe they are talking about the Pennsylvania Railroad T1 4-4-4-4. Rumor has it that the T1 exceeded the Mallard, but there was never an official recording of that speed. All the T1's were scrapped however as it turns out some people have decided to build a new one https://prrt1steamlocomotivetr...

Re: Cargo weight revamping

Hey Gumboots, any news on the reefer skins? Also I got a question about your express packs. I downloaded but never installed the earlier express pack and I noticed I had an Express_E_to_H_new.zip that contained a few hundred files that was supposed to go in the UserExtraContent folder according to m...

Re: Cargo weight revamping

Well they're always welcome, no rush. I think all my freight cars are now set to your weight scale. The only thing next for me is your express cars. I'm still using WP&P's for the Pennsy livery and bc I can't remove them and add yours without ruining my saved games. It's a shame about the flatca...

Re: Cargo weight revamping

That must be it. I compilation zip of all the files would be great though, especially for fresh installs.

Btw, what happened with your reefer models?

Re: Cargo weight revamping

I'm just trying to figure out where the Pulpwood.cct file came from. It wasn't included in your xHopCover_RC3 pack (in fact there wasn't even a Pulpwood.cty file either) and there's no Pulpwood.cct file in the EngineTypes folder of the base game. It's not from WP&P either.

Re: Cargo weight revamping

No, they wouldn't work with saved games. Any modification that changes cargo assignation and file names for assets won't work with saves, because the saved game will always be locked to the previous format. If the saved games are running fine with WP&P's fruit reefers then keeping them is entir...

Re: Cargo weight revamping

Ok, finally got motivated to sort out the reefer and flatcar cargoes for the new 8 eras. Note that because they are using default PopTop models for the cars themselves, the B and C eras share the same cars. Ditto for D and E eras. Ditto again for F, G and H eras. However, you can still tell when th...

Railroad Historical Societies

I know this isn't the most active subforum, but I wanted to give a shout out to a historical and technical society I joined in the past year and to railroad historical and technical societies in general. That would be the The Pennsylvania Railroad Technical & Historical Society (PRRT&HS). I ...

Re: Two New Train Games

You could experiment with editing the base_config file to reduce industry production. This would reduce the amount of production a resource industry can do. It would also reduce the amount at the production facility though. I could give it whirl. Cash on Wheels said he had had changed the industria...

Re: Two New Train Games

Edit 1: I found the Flexible Stations mod at the Russian site. I'm going to give it a try. Yeah, let us know how it goes. I want to finish off my current save before diving into station mods and map building. It looks good though, I'm starting to lean towards the Urban Games version and it's subsid...

Re: Two New Train Games

Once you get a grasp on the industry dynamics, you'll see that one resource facility can supply more han one production facility with ease. I understand that and that's the issue I have with it. Like Cash on Wheels said, it's boring when you only need one mine for one factory. Personally, I'd rathe...

Re: Two New Train Games

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you. I'm referring to Boring that you only need one mine for one factory. What ends up happening is more secondary factories and mills than sources of raw material. (I still haven't figured that one out). Probably corn-based/biodegradable plastics. Why that supply chain (...

Re: Two New Train Games

I finally sat down to put Transport Fever to the test. I have to say I was very impressed with the new cargo system. I was leery about trying to start up industries whose suppliers were far away, but that wasn't an issue. And as I interconnected my network, I was taken aback when I started seeing ca...
