Re: Building track in mountainous regions?

Some maps are smoothed heavily (on those, normally it's simply a case of extending the route a little with curves), but those made in PopTop style have low level roughness, which while not looking great, gives the most challenge. When shooting for a minimum grade it's mostly about precision of angl...

Re: 1954 Royal Tour (1.05) - now with extra disasters!

I did get the newspapers to say that Sydney was connected to Canberra and Brisbane, so I have no idea why bronze wasn't given. **!!!**

Re: Building track in mountainous regions?

1. Use a lot of curves. 2. Build tunnels. 3. Use mountain locos like the Fairlie and the Shay. I love the shay to be honest. That little train climbs hills like no other. It will do 20mph up almost any slope. Even the Big Boy etc can't do that. ^**lylgh I think I'm generally quite good at track lay...

Re: General Strategy Guidelines I Found Useful - Feel Free to Discuss

Yeah, hello Bonobo4! Very nice vids, but I kinda got hooked by 1.06 and am not going back now *!*!*! . I have plenty of scenarios left I want to record, it's just a case of both can I easily get a medal on expert (ideally gold of course, I consider bronze as kind of a loss, with silver as okay), bu...

Re: 1954 Royal Tour (1.05) - now with extra disasters!

I can't see anything in Events which would cause Bronze and Silver to fail to trigger... in Apri 1954, but yes oddly you get to keep playing through the year before the Game Lost notice will appear. You did connect Canberra to Brisbane, right? Through Wallangarra as intended? Also, I found an easte...

Re: 1954 Royal Tour (1.05) - now with extra disasters!

So I'm a bit stumped by this one. I have just finished my first full play through, on Medium, and I had met the Bronze goals but not Silver by the stated game end of April 1954. I was in charge of the NSW company, the Queensland company under the management of the no chairman AI was incredibly profi...

Re: RT3 Causes Frequent BSOD?

Probably safe, yeah. Do any other apps cause similar problems, or is it only happening with RT3 and nothing else? Right I've added back all my old content, including saves, add-ons, logos, maps, locos, etc. I can also load up from the game menu, previously this would cause the game to CTD. What is ...

Re: RT3 Causes Frequent BSOD?

Given that the game did crash to desktop and BSOD on a base installation, is it safe to assume the add-ons aren't the problem and I'm okay to add them back?

Re: Latvia (beta)

Probably being naive here, but my first thoughts are that if I can only get Bronze on Expert on the original Latvia, how am I supposed to beat Bronze on Expert with much more complicated objectives? :-( Get more cunning. ;-) Bronze isn't not that big a deal on Hard, or lower difficulty levels. The ...

Re: RT3 Causes Frequent BSOD?

Haven't tested other games yet, I'll need to do that. If it can handle a modern game I'll know it's just RT3, otherwise I may well need a new GPU. :-( Saying that, if it is just RT3, I've no idea why, or how to fix that.

Re: RT3 Causes Frequent BSOD?

So, an update. With no Custom Content, running the very default base game, with no prior saves, I ran a test run through the British Isles scenario (a very fun, and easy scenario by the way), got Gold on Medium (easily, but that's not the point here). So maybe 2.5 hours of total gameplay. Version 1....

It looks a fun, and well detailed, map though. !*th_up*!

Re: RT3 Causes Frequent BSOD?

I don't have the original zips but I have all the files still saved in their relevant folders. Would it just be a simple case of copying the saved games folders, and the 2 extra content, logos, locos etc folders to a safe space and then reinstalling? And then it would all work? Sorry I just need to...

Re: RT3 Causes Frequent BSOD?

It's a possibility an add-on could be causing the crash. Just keep that in mind. If you do an uninstall/reinstall, add the custom content back in one at a time. Also, think about what you added just prior to the crashing starting. maybe you can figure it out like that. It could be anything, but add...

Building track in mountainous regions?

Bit of a weird question really, but I often see elaborate track designs from screenshots posted on here and I often think to myself how can I do that? I play the game with the grid on and trees off when building tracks, but I'm sometimes amazed by the intricacy of tracks possible. For instance where...

Re: 1954 Royal Tour (1.05) - now with extra disasters!

I'm having a great deal of fun with this map, though I'm only on my first play through on medium and it looks like I'll only get bronze or silver, so I'll need to think of a new strategy. Though I love the Australian sense of humour, for example in 1939 the newspaper saying some jokers have started ...

Re: RT3 Causes Frequent BSOD?

As long as they weren't corrupted, yes. You can easily add the custom content back (I assume you still have the zips, or the files from them). Saves should be fine if you copy the saved games folder to a safe spot. You can just paste them back into the new folder after installing anyway. RT3 doesn'...

RT3 Causes Frequent BSOD?

Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong place, move it as necessary, but I have a rather unusual and serious problem with RT3 at the moment. For a long time now (I'm unsure when exactly it started), the game has a tendency to crash to desktop (CTD), or BSOD (blue screen of death). Since I often re...

Re: General Strategy Guidelines I Found Useful - Feel Free to Discuss

Can't help but notice that these comments were made about my videos! ^**lylgh Besides Spanish Mainline is now easy to beat. BUT for someone who doesn't start with industry, it's quite a challenge. Very tough indeed, as I warned for a good few minutes. Then it turned out to be a piece of cake with in...
