Re: Questions: How many cities, very long hauls, reserve cells

Thank you very much Canadian Viking, With the reserve cells, that is exactly what I was trying to do, have one rail coridor north south along the Wasatch Front, and let the cities grow in right next to each other. I can just get rid of many city reserve cells now. And thanks for the information abou...

Re: Rail Yard Structures

Well, I installed the files, but I couldn't find them in the game. Where do you go to build them? I assumed they were listed with all the other structures in the station building submenu. I built a hotel, restaurant, tavern, and post office, just in case they were put in there place, but that didn't...

Re: Hot Dogs, Baseball, Apple Pie, and Congress

Well that is my first reaction too Hawk. But then I think of all the things Congress does when they actually are working, and I say "keep going after those steroid users boys" and "thanks for taking one for the team Clemens"! !*th_up*!

Re: Rail Yard Structures

WPandP,

Can you tell me if your new yard structures (Hopper, Stockyards, Icing) and Cereal building work with Milo's v1.06, or just the official last version, v1.05. Thanks

Re: Questions: How many cities, very long hauls, reserve cells

Thanks for your help Hawk, In question one, about city numbers per map size, I was wondering more about supply and demand, city density, things like that. Will the gameplay seem right with that ratio of cities to land area? In the editor it mentions using a good ratio, but then it never actually giv...

Questions: How many cities, very long hauls, reserve cells

I have a few questions that I can't find addressed anywhere in this forum, or with the search function. 1) In the editor you can see the ratio of trees, cities, etc, per land size. It mentions that you want to keep them balanced for good gameplay, but it doesn't give any numbers for example. What ar...

Map size discussion

Well, I have searched and read threads for discussion of the best map sizes to use, but I have not found any, so I figured I would start one. The game supports up to 1024 x 1024 sized maps, but it does recommend 400? x 400? Is there an optimal size? I was about to make my map the biggest size (1024 ...

Re: New Building available! Comments welcomed

How is the cereal buiding, is it still stuck on 1+1=2 production values? I want to use this building in the map I am making. If the values don't work though, if they screw up supply and demand, I may not be able to use it.

Re: Removing pre-built track/companies

Good ideas WP&P, thanks for the advice. When I get to that point I will let you know how it went. I would like to add a very low wooden tressel like bridge across the lake, rather than a long thin thread of land and then lay track on it. I think the former looks more like a causeway, and more li...

Re: Removing pre-built track/companies

I am not sure if this is the right thread, but it seems like it. Is there a way to put track into a map which all players/companies can use? What I want to do is add the Lucine Cutoff across the Great Salt Lake as part of the map, and allow everyone to use it. What I really want to do is make a caus...

Re: DEMs (no this isn't political)

Thanks Wolverine, that fixed it. I was using the wrong elvation color database file. I guess I missed the part about adding that specific .dbf file. Thanks for your help, and for your tutorial. I would have taken me a very long time to learn all of that myself.

Re: DEMs (no this isn't political)

Well you guys helped me with one area, but now I am stuck on another. I unzipped my .gz file to a .tar file like was suggested to me. Then I unzipped the .tar file to get several files, including a .hdr file. That opens in Microdem, just like the tutorial says. I followed the tutorial and I resized ...

Hello

Well, I guess I should have done this a few days ago, but I just saw this forum tonight. So, howdy! I am very impressed with your site thus far. There has been a lot of work put into this, and I thank you. I used to play RT2 years ago, and quite a bit at one time too. I didn't get RT3 until recetly....

Re: DEMs (no this isn't political)

I have a DEM question too. I downloaded Microdem, but I am having trouble opening the DEM files I downloaded. Mircrodem V10 that I downloaded came with one DEM file already, Hanging Rock Canyon, CA, and the exact file name is HangRockCanyon_DEM_2.tar.gz . It opens fine in Microdem. I downloaded 2 DE...

Re: New building brainstorm

Thanks for the suggestion. I have read about this patch/version, and I will try it out. I have been having some install issue with Vista, so I have been trying to figure that out first, before I add patches. Plus, I think the 1.06 patch may not run with Vista, right? I have an older comp with XP on ...

Re: New building brainstorm

WPandP, you have given me new hope in RT3. Without the ability to get certain commodities to be moved by different train routes this game has been a disappointment in many ways. But if this patch allows me to recreate the drop shipment method (or similar) of RT2, than I might be back in business. I ...
