Re: Age Of Steam V-Pheonix Rising For Your Review

Fourth try is a charm. I got the gold medal, hard level, after one unsuccessful try at the medium level and two unsuccessful tries at the hard level. Now on to expert! {,0,}

Re: Age Of Steam V-Pheonix Rising For Your Review

This scenario captured my interest because of its setting in my childhood home state of Iowa. I had a great time playing it. This is certainly a fun challenge. For one thing, bridges are more difficult to build. Also, the AI get the jump on the human player at the beginning, making it hard for the h...

I just got my first ever gold medal on this one. I think the only comment I can make is "never give up"!

Re: Northeast Corridor

I just got gold medal expert using the Erie. That makes five down, four to go. As for good strategy using the Camden & Amboy, it is not overly difficult. It can easily be taken over right at the start, even allowing the player to start buying into other companies. Then I link up with the New Jer...

Re: American_Rails

I agree that this is a very easy map to play. I had gold medal expert in 17 years. I changed the specs on this scenario so that gold can be awarded anytime before the end of the time period. I enjoy all the merger possibilities. Allowing as many AI's as possible adds to the challenge a little. The t...

Possible Record Stock Split

Recently, while I was playing the Pennsylvania scenario, I had a stock split 58-for-1. Too bad I did not own any of the stock. I was forced to liquidate because of a margin call. Have any of you had any higher stock splits? :-P

Re: Pennsylvania 1855-1901

Yes, it is this map, the one that requires $1 billion in total revenue to win. I made it to $1 billion fairly early, and got up to $2.7 billion with about 15-20 years to spare. If the revenue reaches the maximum, it will revert to the negative of that amount, then start building upward again. So far...

Re: Pennsylvania

I have found an interesting sort of glitch in this scenario. Once the LTD revenue generated reaches the maximum of 2,147,483,648 (which is 2 to the 31st power), the amount suddenly reverts to the negative of that amount and starts upward from there. This screws up a player's progress toward the gold...

Scenario that bombs out

Whenever I get to about the middle of 1999 of the New Beginnings scenario, my RRT3 game suddenly shuts down. Is there a way to fix this? :?:

Re: Mexico

I agree that this is a tough scenario. I found it exasperatingly difficult until I decided to buy and build industries before building railroads. The area around the iron mines is good for a tool and die. Once the coal and iron mines become intermixed, steel mills really pay off. Then the products f...

I noticed that this scenario has had a number of downloads. Glad to see it! Has anybody figured out how to get that Anchorage-to-Chicken reward to work yet?

Re: Transcontinental

After two months, I am back to answer the question that EPH asked me. To connect to Seattle, I started northward from Central California, crossed into Oregon east of the Cascades, crossed over the Cascades to Eugene, then up to Willamette Valley through Portland and on up to Seattle. (0!!0)

Re: Transcontinental

Just recently I achieved gold medal for the first time on this scenario. I must disagree with EPH on one strategem. Instead of paying the bonds off early, I find it better to let the cash accumulate once the link to Seattle is achieved. It costs $750,000 to pay off those bonds no matter when. The ac...

You are right, Ray of Sunshine. It is only a game. The important thing is that we have fun with it. In that respect, this scenario, along with all the rest of RRT3, performs very well! ::!**!

Since making my last posting on this thread, I have achieved one more medal on this scenario, bronze on the hard level. This time I made it with a little more room to spare, but still did not come close to the silver. This continues to be a very tough scenario. !#2bits#!

You are right. This is not a difficult scenario. In fact, I consider it to be the easiest scenario in the game. One time I achieved the gold medal, hard level, in just 7 years.
