Re: Blender > .3dp import/export script.
I have the python script open and this is what I have in that function: file.seek(faces_offset) for f in bm.faces: for i in range(3): file.write(struct.pack("<i", f.verts[i].index + vc)) for i in range(3): file.write(struct.pack("<3f", *f.verts[i].normal)) <-- exactly as it shoul...

Re: Blender > .3dp import/export script.
Well, I am a bit stuck. I haven't noticed it until now, probably because most stuff I edit ends up having dark coloured textures. But this latest thing is mid-grey and the flat shading jumps out. A product of pure genius, sir. May your Christmas tree have beneath it large piles of cash in unmarked notes of small denomination.

Re: GP7 A+B unit (Final)
But that's precisely what I mean. I honestly believe that you and RoR have a closer understanding of the maths than certain designers at PopTop. It's such a blinding no-brainer problem that you could fix it in 10 seconds. This gives me to believe that, be it found or stolen or bought, they used some...

Re: GP7 A+B unit (Final)
So, does the version you sent me still go in the archives? When I sent it to you, Hawk, I was happy with it. Then there was a burst of feed back. That happiness did not long endure. :-| The two zip files in the first post now represent what passes for my "please oh please can I get off this me...

Re: GP7 A+B unit (Final)
Fuel economy set back to 4. !$th_u$! Honestly, there is nothing about this that is intuitive. I would say even the devs at PopTop struggled with this. With this physics and cost model, I am beginning to see how it came about that the Big Boy (and others) came to be the unusable heap it is in the game.

*sigh* Okay, I place the towel gingerly on the floor of the arena. Saad's rugs to trying to get this right.
I've added an eyecandy version to the first post and never no more shall I open the hex editor to change a operating stat.

Re: Evil Genius at work
At the moment, the middle truck is just there for visual filler. Kind of a left over from when I was thinking about quad trucks on the loco, two front, two rear, but then I thought about what a pain in the backside it would be to get working and that was the end of that.

Re: GP7 A+B unit (Final)
For whatever reason, my head has resisted wrapping around that one part. I keep reading your posts when you tell me that and I say, OK, this time I'll make it stick, then I keep falling back on the "bad habit". Probably has something to do with doing this stuff at 4 AM after being up all n...

Re: GP7 A+B unit (Final)
I went back to the drawing board and started the LCO from scratch. I definitely want the GP7 twins to cost more to run, but I also want it to give a better performance on grades. Every time I think I understand the maths of this grade-climbing, I get a wake up call informing me that I'm not there ye...

Re: GP7 A+B unit (Final)
Much thanks for the feedback, RoR. It is greatly appreciated. I just did a bit of detective work and discovered that I had not updated my GP7twins.lst file to reflect a name change for the beauty shot from "GP7twins_NE" to "GP7twinsL_NE". That will correct the beauty shot. I'm un...

Re: Evil Genius at work
In a flight of pure fantasy, I have been looking at UCW Ajax-class 0-6-0 industrial diesel, with an eye toward making a "future" 0-6-6-0 (or maybe even 0-6-6-6-0) caterpillar straight steam or steam-turbine. And, for whatever reason, I'm finding the clean lines of the Ajax class done out w...

Re: They call it Mexican Cornbread
I understand not liking Velvetta, I have about no use for it myself. If it weren't for the son believing that mac & cheese can only be made from Velvetta and conchiglie, I'd likely never have bought the stuff. I'm getting to the point that hot peppers and I don't see eye to eye. I used to ...

They call it Mexican Cornbread
In Lincoln and Wayne Counties of West Virginia, I have been served something they call "Mexican Cornbread". It's probably about as Mexican as polar bears and ice bergs, but that's unimportant. Ingredients: Solid shortening or lard 1 large egg 1/4 cup vegetable oil or bacon drippings 1 1/2 ...

Thank you RoR. I keep reading and a little more sinks in each time. Gumboots.... Not that you need to make it, but I found this image of a boxed Shay used on the streets of New York City while cruising the Interwebs. box-shay.jpg I never knew such a thing existed, but there's much weirdness in...

Re: GP7 A+B unit (Final)
Okay, it's been a week, and no one has returned to say the GP7 A+B is broken or sets their hard drive on fire, so Ima submit it for the downloads page.
