Exporting RT3 Maps to other games?
I think there is no problem for maps of real-world areas, since height maps seem to be readily available for the entire planet. Fictional places will need the above treatment probably. I am unsure of the scale interpretation between various applications however. The shapes of real-world areas will l...

Exporting RT3 Maps to other games?
What I think is most convenient to do is not to mess around with .gmp files, but ask the creators of the maps in question to send you directly the original bitmap height-maps they used. The only non-fictional map I have created covers the South Balkans, and I ll be glad to provide you with the heigh...

Re: Naming your railroad
Running out of ideas for the names of cities and industries in your Railroad and Transport Tycoon fictional maps? Do you lack inspiration for the naming of the stations in your model rail layout? Are you looking for convincing or amusing placenames for some alternate reality simulation and want to a...

Re: Tips needed
Speed restriction by percentage (50%,70% ) sounds stupid. Bridges pose absolute speed limits. A Pacific won't be allowed to run any faster than, say, a Decapod of the same axle-load.

Re: Hosting is being transferred!
As I wrote there , Gumboots' concept about articles free of false info is best served by a wiki-like structure of accumulated knowledge. The authors' team would have to be more controlled and qualified than a publicly open forum. I don't know if there are any software tools allowing an "approv...

Re: Testing Trainmaster
Small demands of say 0.03 or 0.05 per year as one of the ingredients on a multiple-input industrial recipe. Such microscopic demands are too weak to draw or even keep cargo via price demand. Such microscopic percentages might be preferably represented as "demand only", not included in a p...

So, we can assume it is unsuitable for running in debug mode, since the latter frequently imposes going from full screen to windowed mode and back, right?

I uploaded another piece here.
I'd like to know if my articles on these subjects are comprehensible and if there are any hard-to-understand points.

Re: RT3 Textures are blurry.
Of course Mint has a 64 bit version. The 32-bit version in my case was a matter of coincidence, it occurred from the need to revive an ancient laptop of a friend that didn't support 64 bit . My general preference is toward Mint, but this is objective, I don't want to influence users into making bias...

Re: RT3 Textures are blurry.
Since my installed Linux Mint 19 was a 32-bit version, I took the effort to replace it with a 64-bit Kubundu. RR Tycoon then ran even better out of the hard disk, BUT... running it from my USB stick was practically impossible, loading times increased 10, 20 times, I cannot tell precisely. My Kubundu...

Re: Cargo & Industry fixes for 1.06
During rendering, does it make any difference whether the 3D model is all in a single 3dp file or split among multiple files, once the total number of vertices is the same?

Re: Cargo & Industry fixes for 1.06
Actually, I see no practical point in the whole "Cargomodels" concept, once empty car movements are not simulated at all in the program. All visible loads could have been incorporated in the car model itself, while defining separate car types, such as "log flatcar", "steel f...

I guess it has to be placed in a way that it will not overlap with the second track in case of future track doubling, right?

Couldn't storage be somewhat decentralised by splitting stuff among various free space providers and linking to it appropriately?

It is a Turbo-X Laptop by Plaisio Computers from 2014, says "Model W650EH" on the back, frame rates quite smooth, ranging between 33 and 48 f/sec.
I got rid of annoying crashes ruining unsaved work.
I regret not having tested that for so many years.

It runs perfectly so far under Wine and Linux Mint 19, without any unpredictable crashes apart from the justified ones (for example when loading a GMS session featuring stuff unavailable for the particular install). Much more reliable than Windows as a matter of fact...

Does the above imply that RR Tycoon 3 can run under Linux with the help of an emulator?
I broke the hard disk on one of my laptops yesterday and replaced it immediately with another disk, which has only Linux installed for the time being. So, it's not a theoretical question, I actually need to know

Re: Cargo & Industry fixes for 1.06
Also, cargoicons can be shifted freely around the car-body through the relative X, Y and Z offsets preceding the "INST" statement in their 3DP file, while Cargomodels have a fixed position on the car-body, with X, Y and Z offsets making no difference. As to "why it could not be done&q...

Cargomodels & cargoicons
A practical use of the above in the case of closed wagons can be the creation of small fittings, which will utilise textures from the general Cargomodels bitmap and enable carried loads to be identified from far away, instead of or in addition to the cargoicon stickers on the car sides. After much ...
