ok,
yeah, you really need them installed separately,
as separate os's,
they can stuff things up if you have both installed,
good luck with Kubuntu, (i find it better)

Question: Is there a way to have the desktop background image change on a regular basis, like it wuld if you have WebShots installed and set up for that? I am not sure what webshots is, but: on KDE you can have the desktop set so it changes every x minutes, and you can make a list of the images you...

no you dont need to use a package manager,
just download the 2 files to your desktop,
unzip them both, move the executable,
then move the folder to your home directory,
and create a short cut to the executable, with the -nomidi line at the end of it.

What I've read about beryl I think I'll pass on that for now. Maybe someday it will be a stable option but right now it's not. I agree, I am not using it yet either, especially since my laptop only has a 64 mg graphics card. In regard to KDE, i know in regard to sound that there are much more optio...

no problem, you need to unzip the pak, then cut/paste the executable into the pak's simutrans folder, then run it. Also, under linux you must specify -nomidi ie, the command/shortcut i use to run the game is: /home/daniel/simutrans/simutrans -nomidi Otherwise it freezes for a few seconds whenever it...

Hawk: Has you tested gFTP as FTP-client. It has a graphical interface and has at least the basic option. I agree, gFTP is what I use, and i find it great, :) In regard to moving stuff from XP, i guess it will just depend on the file format, open office will be able to open most microsoft word stuff...

well, if you downloaded the 'stable' version, I dont know, i had the same problem. I tried out the newest release (not stable) and it worked fine though). Also, make sure you have moved the executable into the pak folder, (i find pak 128 to be best, :) ) Make sure you downloaded/extracted BOTH the e...

I've been playing around with Kubuntu 7.04, running from the cd. I was floored when I checked system resources. After running and checking things out for about 20 or 30 minutes I found out I only had about 46 MB of free memory. I have 1 GB installed. That's a bit ridiculous. Is that because I'm run...

Hawk, it would probably be best to put linux and windows on separate hard drives if you have 2, however if you do that, then you have to set up duel booting yourself (i have no personnel experiance with doing this) The big advantage of wubi, along with how it creates a partion for linux inside windo...
