Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

Back to the subject. My thoughts are this. I do have an interest in seeing 1.06 finished. To me personally, I have little interest in changing or adding locos for the most part, but I think this is something that could be added as I can see that there are those who do have the interest and skills re...

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

You are probably right, but my fight or flight instincts kicked in and I tend to trust my instincts in these situations. I have lived an interesting life and been in a few situations where I am certain that this has saved my bacon. Better safe than having your face on a milk carton. !*th_up*! (0!!0)...

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

I had experimented with adding alcohol demand to Taverns (duh) , Restaurants, and Hotels, along with some other things. A bit off topic here but I have a funny "purple strip club" anecdote. Maybe ten years ago I had to go downtown (Phoenix) to take care of some building permits and was com...

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

The basic idea behind King Coal was that all industry required fuel to produce a product. Coal was the best and produced the best product, but many industries could substitute pulpwood as fuel, with a slightly smaller end profit. I had balanced out coal (and pulpwood) production and price so that th...

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

The mod I had in mind (King Coal) did not involve any programming, unless you consider hex coding buildings and such as programming, which I do not. It was meant solely as a patch to ride on top of 1.06 and tie up all the loose ends, and expand the industry and cargo capabilities for the steam era. ...

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

Fixing the industry/cargo issues would be on the top of my list for 1.06. My King Coal mod was meant to do exactly this, with an emphasis on the steam era, but alas it was ~95% done and then languished for some time and died with an HDD crash.

Re: Why do people start with industries?

In the interest of full disclosure I did not actually "build" that machine, but I think it would be as good a way as any to calculate passenger generation in RT3. !*th_up*! Where did you get it from? Is it available somewhere? I had seen that gif somewhere before, and I found it by doing ...

That one is inversely correlated with the current consumption of ayahuasca in Bolivia, via the application an inverse square law and multiplied by the constant pi. Prove me wrong. ^**lylgh . It's that simple? And here I have been using this little machine I fabricated to calculate RT3 Passenger gen...

Re: Why do people start with industries?

Interesting investigation. I guess I have always assumed that the overhead in the company ledger was mostly the "overhead" listed in individual industry ledgers, along with the overhead billed to administer your railroad. At any rate, I am pretty sure that overhead can not be based on CBV....

I have always thought that "Salaries" was the salary paid to the chairman of the company. Is this not the case?

Long time no see Belbincolne! !!jabber!!

I use Jzip. It is free and you can get it here. Just watch for the toolbar addon's and junk as you install it (as with all software these days). 7zip is another option, but it seems that it makes zip's that are not quite universal.

Re: 2-8-4 Berkshire Questions

Great work Gumboots. Have you considered giving the Berkshire a "Looks Sharp" rating to give it a bit more advantage over the Mikado? I have always thought the Passenger Appeal ratings were way off in RT3. I mean- you take the American 4-4-0 which were some of the most ornate and pretty lo...

Re: New map for 1.06: Rebuilding the Deep South 1865 (beta 1)

Thanks for the green light. !!howdy!! I am washing some ideas around and should have most of the scripting done this weekend. I will of course give credit for the map creation and use a different name for the scenario. I have been kind of stuck in my current ultra-complicated Mile High & Rising ...

Re: New map for 1.06: Rebuilding the Deep South 1865 (beta 1)

The ability to create multiple companies has made this scenario way too easy to beat. I played the start (second year) shown above until about 1890 and was on track to make "Super Gold" perhaps before 1900. It was so easy that I stopped playing. This is your scenario Arop, and you should m...

Re: New map for 1.06: Rebuilding the Deep South 1865 (beta 1)

Stoker, using ethical tactics? Think of your reputation. Well, I did pilfer all of those companies (of course). I just did not sit there and steal money from company after company and then toss out the worthless shells. I created companies that would make money, let them build through the yea...

Re: New map for 1.06: Rebuilding the Deep South 1865 (beta 1)

I like having the option for making multiple companies. but it changes the goal picture quite a bit. Here is where I was sitting at the start of year 2 , after making several companies the first year, and then going through and leveraging and buying out company after company. http://i877.photobucket...

Thank you kindly sir. !!howdy!!

Giving it a run right now.

Edit to add: I see that only 50 pieces of track are given to new companies. Is this intentional?
