Re: Board Preferences
OK- I know this was a very tiny problem, but I noticed it and thought I would post it, as sometimes a minor thing like this can lead to or point out other things which are more important.

Board Preferences
I have a small problem. I was adjusting my board preferences, and had inadvertently checked "hide my online status" . I went back and reset it to "No" , but to no avail. I then logged out and relogged in, but no change. I figured maybe turning off my server and relogging might do...

I didn't recognize the house or garden- just the Ordway name. I do know Swanson road though.

Re: Need great depression stories, recipes, etc.
Thomas Township? This is a small world moment here, I spent most of my childhood there (on Miller road just south of Gratiot), until we moved to my fathers hometown 15 miles south in St. Charles. My mother grew up on Dutch road with 8 brothers and sisters in a house not much different than the one p...

Re: Help making a Southwest map
Yes , that is possible. The scenario Kevin outlined seemed to only have the requirements that the player has to start a company which precludes pre-making a company and placing first station in the desired stariting point of L.A. and that the player then has access to the US states, but has to purch...

LA & L.A.
I have a new scenario ready for release (I hope ;-) ) . It's called "LA & L.A." and is based on the Poptop Southern Pacific map. It is a 1.06 version map, and employs all of the cargoes available for the time period. Please give it a run through and give me any feedback that you have -...

Re: Help making a Southwest map
That would definitely be easier, but Kevin wanted to make it so that you have to start your company in this scenario.

Rob a train today and all your likely to get is scrap metal from ground up cars on its way to China, where they still make things. ![Crying or Very sad ](./images/smilies/icon_cry.gif)

Re: Help making a Southwest map
Something was bugging me about this explanation, so I made a test map. I made two errors. 1. you must exclude territories individually if you have one or more that can be purchased. The other is that you should exclude them "when a company is started" instead of at the start of scenario. H...

Re: Help making a Southwest map
P.S. Something I didnt include in that explanation is the "Limited access" portion of the territories menu. If you intend to make territories available without purchasing them, and the goal is only to make the person start in L.A., you would NOT select "limited access" in the ter...

Re: Help making a Southwest map
HI Kevin. The answer to why you dont have access to your LA territory is indeed because you have an invisible border, and it is remapped to California, which I believe you have set as limited access, available with a $1 Million payment. The easy solution here would be to make the L.A. border visible...

Re: Resources dissappear after multiple saves
Interesting observation. I hadnt noticed this, but I am in the habit of saving "early and often" from experience with map making going way back into the dark ages (Age of Empire-etc). I have also heard, buy not noticed my self that saving changed maps under the same name in this game cause...

Re: Help wanted - scenario for beta testing
I was programming a warehouse as a "Machinery Foundry" in this test, and having 1iron=1Machinery and high demand for Coal,Lumber(for patterns and casting flasks),Passengers, and Crystals(casting mold sand). I then programmed events to count the loads coming in, and increasing the productio...

Re: Help making a Southwest map
The add building actually does work for warehouses and ports, but they are real picky about the placement. I think that when it "places" the new warehouse it randomly picks a spot within the radius defined for placement. If the terrain picked at random is unsuitable OR already built on, I ...

Re: Help wanted - scenario for beta testing
I like the idea of the loads in minus loads out idea. I might just try that in my production zones concept for some of the cargoes. Having Passengers and Troops being consumed at a rapid rate does real strange things to the creation chain for them.

Re: Help making a Southwest map
I like to program warehouses as "passenger terminals" you can give them a demand/produce passengers function, or of course demand only and or produce only. You can add a demand for coffee and perhaps demand / supply for mail as well. They work good, but look crummy of course, with the &quo...

Re: Help wanted - scenario for beta testing
Hey Ruth, I have been experimenting with warehouses that have extremely high demand only functions, that consume-that is delete from the map- the product as soon as it is unloaded. I have found that a Demand of around 240 does the trick, and it doesn't increase the price a whole lot , as there seems...

The layout of the shacks looks amazingly similar to the RRT3 "Logging Camp", except for straddling the track.

The haulback cheat wont help you meet monetary goals. It will result in a zero profit per hauled back train.

Re: Stokers' Corner
The haulback cheat is easier with 1.06 and "loss shipping", but it can be done in previous versions as well. I have been doing a little experiment, and I like the results. I have concluded that cargoes entering a demand only industry do indeed get consumed at the stated demand rate per yea...
