Re: Problem with Brahelia scenario
Been using steam along time and I can say the new steam proves to be actually useful and reliable, it just took them forever to get the bugs out. I also do appreciate the support valve has given to the modding community and the continue support for all their games (even after all these years, I stil...

.3ds and .3dp
It appears the .3ds and .3dp formats are similar enough that all the needed point, triangle, and coordinate data is present, it just needs to be rearranged. The .3ds format seems to be well docmuneted here and here and it uses identifiers. Just remember that things are reversed so 0x4120 = 2041. RT3...

Re: Oddball entries in the BCA files
P.S. How are your Blender projects going? Have you figured out how to reskin an altered model in .3ds and successfully convert that to .3dp? Ok, I haven't had much time as of late, I an currently trying to build a simple bethgon coal car and texture it from scratch so I can learn blender a little b...

Re: Oddball entries in the BCA files
If you are using tiny hexer, the status window and value editor do all the conversions on the fly. Highlighted is the loco top speed.

F40PH
Since I figured out how you can use blender to modify .3dp files, I've been learning the ways of blender by working on an F40PH. I'm still a bit unsure with the cab but I think it will look a lot better when I get the texture fixed on it. f40ph1.JPG Since redoing the cab messed up the textures, I ne...

Re: 3dp File Converter
Yea, the free verson of 3DOC allows you to export to the Object File Format, or .off. Copying the points from the .3ds into the .3dp file works but you can't add or remove points as it screws up the texture triangles. Just made a F40PH and it took me far less time then it would have hex editing! All...

Re: 3dp File Converter
According to their format list here , 3D Object Converter will only load RT3 files, what you are seeing on the right is a 3D Professional file which unfortunately uses the same filename. I may be on to something though, it seems that RT3's .3dp files are modified .3ds files, meaning if you manually ...

Re: 3dp File Converter
Your problem is with 3D Object Converter, it saves the file as a 3D Professional .3dp file, not a RT3 .3dp file. If you open a RT3 file then save it right away, you end up with a file unusable to RT3.

Re: TM and multiplayer
I just ran a game for 15 years to see if anything else causes a crash (building industrys, buying stock, ect) and so far it hasn't crashed. I may test a actual multiplayer game with my brother tommorow and see what happens. So far it looks like you can play trainmaster in mulitplayer as long as as y...

TM and multiplayer
Being the curious person that I am, I tried to play TM in multiplayer mode. Unfortunately it seems when you click the buy new locomotive button, the game crashes. It turns out this crash is also in 1.06. Thinking it was a locomotive introduced with 1.06, I began deleting engines in the engine types ...

Re: Diesel Reskins
Great, it should probably be in the New Engines category though since it adds the FP45 Double and modifies the FP45.

Re: Diesel Reskins
Well, since I'm not getting any bug reports on these, you might as well put them on the downloads page, hawk. Ill hopefully add a better read me similar to the ones Ned has on his stuff when I get the time.

Re: Diesel Reskins
Comfy is certainly one way to put it! I had a heck of a time remapping the skin coordinates! While not necessarily hard once I figured it out, It was still horribly time consuming. Converting hex to decimal and back takes by far the longest (why is everything backwards!) Any pointers for speeding up...

The wait was long but I think you'll all agree it was worth it
Thanks for all the help and enjoy! Let me know if you find any bugs.
Next on the list is figuring out how to re skin these.

Re: Diesel Reskins
Good News, Folks! After a long hiatus, I have started working on these again! For now, a teaser.
Also notice the difference between the .DDS skin (Lead Unit) and the .TGA skin.

Re: Railroad Tycoon 3 - Trainmaster Alpha 1
I had a bit of free time tonight so I took the plunge and downloaded TM. Things are looking very nice, Ned. A few general concerns though, Does anyone else have to "resign" back to the campaign screen when in the editor? Also the General Validation seems to lock up the game until I alt tab...
