Re: Another Question Regarding Ports

OK - if it involves coding special buildings or some such its simply beyond my talents or even areas I'm interested in learning. Easier I suppose to simply create far off 'islands' that represent the industrialized world - or at least their interactions with the poor raw resource producing country(s...

Another Question Regarding Ports

Can you make it so that a port takes 2 or 3 or X of commodity Y and turns that into Commodity Z? What I want to do is simulate the idea of trading out say 3 coal and getting 1 steel in return. Essentially I'm trying to simulate poor resource producing countries which trade resources in larger quanti...

Re: Favorite Scenario(s)?

Hmm.... Well a few of the scenarios I've enjoyed enough to go back and replay even years later. South Africa by Steve (Mobius) Lorenz Australia by Didgabringability (maybe mainly because I realized what you could do with New Guinea) Mars The New World by Ulf Norlinger Japanese Miracle by Porter (EPH...

Re: Prince of Steel

I think I played this many, many, years ago. As I recall it was fun but pretty easy and when its easy for me that means its REALLY easy as I'm not any kind of a RRT3 shark. I suspect that you'll find most of the people posting here have played pretty much every scenario that is done in a style that ...

South Africa

So I just finished playing this scenario by Steve (Mobius) Lorenz. There is no link in the scenario section so I decided to create a topic on it. I found it quite difficult as it seems to nearly require a favorable seed. I probably restarted due to bad seeds at least a dozen times. Essentially I'm l...

Re: RT3 Game Cheats - Do You Use Them?

It greatly speeds up the testing. After all A map may require dozens of tests and a builder my just get tired of testing and not finish a map. Sure. The problem occurs when a Poll question has a yes response for both people that use cheats during game play and those that use cheats as a tool in sce...

Re: Coal Miner's Daughter

Thanks for the info. I read the read me and it does not that the port is not required but the program is crashing to the desktop and giving me an error message that talks about the Gwizz Port file so there it is.

Re: Coal Miner's Daughter

This scenario seems to be crashing the game for me looking for teh Gwizz Port. I found the port in one of the support sections on the site but have no clue which directory to install it to. Could some one tell me which directory one adds things like enhanced buildings?

Re: Getting back on the Ride

Glad to see you back, Jeremy. IMO, your Modern Africa map is one of the prettiest maps made for RT3. But yes, the scenario needs some work. On this big beautiful map, I always seemed to start in the same corner with the same strategy. I bought industry in Angola and started my RR built around that....

Re: Borduria After the War

I don't know what causes it, but for some reason if you buy out a liquidated company in this game, it gives you access to all territories. I don't know how to fix this other than disallowing mergers altogether, which I don't want to do. **!!!** Don't think that is true. I believe you get access to ...

I'm in the group that ignores corn. If my trains think its the most profitable haul then they can carry it but for the most part I don't pay any attention to corn.

Seems sort of silly to include using cheats as a tool when map building as part of 'using cheats'.

Re: Panama Canal

Try #3 also ends in a friggen Bronze. This is a pretty tough scenario. Still I think I know a way to get myself at least in the running for silver. In that last attempt I had the 'Biggest Traffic jam in History' at Panama City - they'd be backed up for miles - it could take more then a year for a tr...

Re: Panama Canal

So I just did my first try at this and I am very, very impressed. I even swapped out the video's for the win and loose condition. I've only really seen the win condition as I have either restarted or won a bronze so far. I love the little historical interludes that were included with the scenario bu...

Re: The Zany World of Baffania

I played this tonight. Just got Bronze. I often felt I did not know where I stood in this scenario. Scenario objectives don't always seem to be in the ledger. For example there is a point when you need to haul clothes and lumber to South Hampton but nothing in the Ledger records the progress in that...

Re: Borduria After the War

Well I've just attempted this. I see no sign that what I was playing was the coveted version #2. Essentially I'm having some similar problems as the above players though the island is profitable if you snag milk farms as fast as possible and the dairy processor in Azziz. That said profitable is not ...

Re: Guatemala

So I just played the revised version of this entertaining scenario. I did find it fairly tough as I probably restarted 4 or so times before managing to win this baby. I chose to play squeaky clean and never stole from the company. That said the player can always funnel a fair bit of money to himself...

Re: Railroad Tycoon 3 - Trainmaster Alpha 1

I'm scared of this patch. It appears to create a version of RRT3 thats not compatible with the classic version of the game. 1.06 added stuff but I could still play the old maps. With this one I seem to have to choose - either Trainmaster RRT3 or classic RRT3 patched to 1.06. I guess I'm not ready to...

Re: Are you still learning ?

Seems like their is a fair spread of favourite starting industries. I tend to like buying a meat packing plant which is often very profitable and in many modern scenarios the diesel refinery is practically a licence to print money. Depending on the scenario Uranium mines can also result in gobs of c...
