Re: The Great Experiment

My own preference for daisy chaining is not a simple A to B routing, as I found that the price gradients can cause individual links in the chain to stall. Instead, I do A-B-C, as often there is cargo that wants to continue moving from A towards C and you can make money on both hauls, and the return...

Re: Are you still learning ?

Heck yeah. I'm not even good at this game compared to most of the people here.

Re: Iceland

So I did it with about 3 months to spare (photo finish basically). That said I'm sure I could have done significantly better. This time I was more careful with track and that did result in a very significant number of extra cities ultimatly being connected. However I spent to much time messing aroun...

Re: Review of Northern Ontario

When this popped up in the scenario section I went looking for it. Being from Toronto I had some interest since it was local. I found the scenario entertaining but very easy. I'd have liked it better if I felt I was working more withing the constraints of northern Ontario during the early parts of l...

Re: What Game Difficulty Level Do You Start With?

Medium for me. Unless the scenario is very easy I'll often still have some trouble and will often have to play a second or third time to finally win. I don't usually go back and play a scenario a 2nd time after I have won it mainly becuase there are all these other great scenarios to play so I tend ...

Re: Iceland

OK thanks. I tried it a third time recently and got very close. I think I'm laying track thats too expencive (I'm just tunnelling through mountains) and thats resulting in less money to connect up cities. I'll go back and be more careful with the track laying in order to have more money to connect c...

Re: Getting back on the Ride

I actually did play Modern Africa (I believe it's at the terminal??) It's here too. ;-) I believe it was at the H&P site. I added all the maps from there when Steve shut it down. Oh its definitly here. When I reinstalled RRT3 I realized that some where along the way I had lost the scenario and ...

Re: The Great Experiment

OK thanks for the explanation. Daisy chain must be the lingo for the rather simple method of running trains back and forth between adjacent cities. I've certianly found that I usually use daisy chain having had some trouble with Hub and Spoke in the one recent case where I used it. I tried Hub and S...

Re: Getting back on the Ride

...and wrote the scenario Modern Africa I played Modern Africa for the first time a couple of months ago. It took me three tries to finally get up and going. I barely squeeked by with a bronze. I liked the jest of the game but felt the bribe demands occurred too often, so I edited some of them out....

Re: The Great Experiment

Ahhh...ishaybas is promoting the 'daisy chain' railroad network. I have found this to be an effective network as well, especially when the cities are strung along in line on the map. Although I always use a 1/8 consist limits unless it is a 'resource supply' train which is feeding a basic resource ...

Getting back on the Ride

Hello Everyone. So I finally got back into RRT3 after a long hiatus. I had been slightly involved in the community three or four years ago and wrote the scenario Modern Africa which, while flawed in some ways, I was fairly happy with as a first effort. I fell off the train after that scenario when m...

Re: Iceland

So I've gotten back into playing RRT3 and I downloaded this map...again. Years ago I tried to beat this scenario (on normal difficulty) and had some significant trouble. I've come back to it and tried twice today and have so far lost both times. Its really the cargo requirement thats killing me. Any...
