Re: Birth of a Nation (CA01)

Great...thanks Ruler of Rails. With this I think I can get through the scenario.

Re: Birth of a Nation (CA01)

Ruler of Rails I believe your missing my issue. a) In the scenario Brith of a Nation you start in control of the Champlain Railway which starts off controlling Molson's Brewery b) There is a rule that says if the Grand Trunk Rail Line does not connect to Montreal by 1850 you loose c) There is a rule...

Re: Birth of a Nation (CA01)

I'll note that the event that kills you if the original rail line does not make 500K after 1840 is not even one I actually have a problem with. It does mean you have to make the original rail company pretty good and therefore Grand Trunk will need to be very good to take it over but that is not - I ...

Re: Birth of a Nation (CA01)

I am so frustrated by this scenario. Not my way to go into a rant but I feel practically compelled to do so in this case. I have lost and lost at this scenario over and over again and most of those losses feel like they are because the scenario is misleading or simply unforthcoming with how it is ex...

Re: Modern Africa

Four openings in this scenario and some general guidelines. Guideline #1 is that the trains are ultra modern and one can do a good job servicing a fairly large area. Guideline #2 is that, as noted by everyone above, this scenario is an industry start. Possible Openings...note these are the ones I th...

Re: African Dreams

Did the user edited 1.06 version of this and it really is a very fun scenario. That said it seems to assume you start on the coast and work your way outward but I did the opposite building a Plastic Factory in the part of the map with tons of oil and essentially laying down the needed industries fir...

Going to throw in my two cents with the, now standard, this was lots of fun but so easy that I got Gold on the first try.

Found the map fun but not to tough if you follow the designer's advice start in Lamia where the oil is.

Re: Ethiopia - testers needed (yet again)

Had a good time with this scenario, finally beating it on my 3rd play through on Hard. Found that picking out a number of industries and feeding them was pretty much the key. As is often the case getting the steel industry up and running made buko bucks even though I had to build the steel mill and ...

Re: Beta test my new scenario Chile please!

Not sure if its updated or not actually. Tried again...so much closer this time but fate intervened. I have one last train of cheese, this time two trains of five where sent along with the rest of the goods. Its cheese that is the killer however because you have to run on another companies track to ...

Re: Beta test my new scenario Chile please!

Once more and I Gave up. This time after six years in the strike I thought I had met the requirements only to realize that actually I should have been hauling an extra load of each of the desired goods as I must have hauled some 75% cargos and was not quite there. As it would be at least four more y...

Re: Beta test my new scenario Chile please!

Made a number of tries at this scenario. Last run I got killed when the miners did their strike and their simply was no dairy farms in the northern part of the map. Impossible to end their strike and Chile pretty much collapsed.

Re: Mexico

The advice is to buy industry before laying tracks... But I can't since I don't have enough money so how can I follow the advice ? Little late but... You have $1.1 Million to start and can take out a loan for $500,000 but their is a $10,000 dollar processing fee...leaving you 10 grand short. Issue ...

Re: Age of Steam

Finished this off this evening. There is talk of competing rail roads but the current version does not have any competitors. Definitely one of the easier scenarios I've ever played. A flat map with good rivers means its a tad difficult right at the beginning to get a profitable rail line and I strug...

Re: (a Eng) Balkanika

Fun but not actually difficult. Or maybe I just got lucky. Larrissa not only had the oil but also a ton of wood which is a great start to an expanding industry. Started by buying a lumber and paper mill then bought up all the base resources, expanded with a diesel refinery, furniture and upgrades an...

Re: Express D'Orient

Just finished playing this and had a good time. Managed to just barely get Gold about two months before the scenario would end...though that was because I had not realized I needed to haul mail to Bucharest. I had spent a few years wondering why I had not already won when I made the connection at th...

Re: Colonial India Help.

This was not the only difficulty I had with this scenario. There is this effect where if you haul liquer or meat to certain provinces it destroys your train stations which messes up your whole train system. Very annoying and the only real answer is to make sure that such cities are not part of the r...

Re: Ethiopia - testers needed (yet again)

So I finished playing this and its a fun scenario. I liked the included history. That said its really not very hard. It essentially exists in that perfect point regarding resources where there are enough to make hauling stuff with trains profitable and yet they are rare enough that the cargo's tend ...

Re: Another Question Regarding Ports

Hey, just thought of something you might try. Set up a warehouse or port to produce one steel from one coal plus demand two coal, and it might be like getting one steel for three coal. I just don't know how a warehouse prioritizes allocating an available resource that it demands in more than one wa...

Re: Iron Czar Questions

Dug out an old scenario, "Iron Czar". Have a couple of very unimportant questions that I still haven't figured out. 1) You can buy rights to build in Korea - where IS Korea? I don't find it on the map (but I have been accused of keeping my eyes shut more than once). 2) If you merge with &...
