I played Gold and enjoyed every minute.
I too, confused ammo and weapons for the first 14 years of the game,
so I got Silver.

Hey, I didn't read the long thread, so maybe I am saying the obvious, but just wanted to say that I cracked this one on expert/gold after like 15 years, so it is very much possible .. Hint: Connect Fresno and the other city on the southwest side that needs steel and aluminum, as soon as you can, and...

There used to be times I would play couple of hours at night, really focusing hard,
usually playing on fastest speed .. sorta trains trans.

After that I would get WEEIIRRRDDD ass dreams ...

I cant believe that after reading this thread late at night, I actually dreamed that I am a diver surveying the river for bridge building .. full graphic pictures from diving and all.

Anyone managed to crack this one on Expert? It seems like there is not enough cargo to go around, and without the ability to buy or build industry, your expenses in expert quickly turn into debt, and the interest kills you before you reach 1850 and have only 4 cities connected. I tried several start...

Btw, you dont have to connect all islands to themselves, its enough to create 4 pairs of islands, even though I fear its not the original intent of the scenario, so I connected them all. When did you achieve gold and in which difficulty level?

On the first try I got to Gold in expert on 1941, when I started from NY and always built connected track.

I am pretty sure you can gold earlier ..
