Re: Scenario for beta testing:Utah Rail History
After a long hiatus I've returned (don't ask, it's a long story). Anyways, I've made some gradual refinements to this scenario over the past two years, and this is nothing more than uploading those enhancements. If you've already started playing an older version it's probably not worth it to switch....

Re: New scenario for testing Northern Nevada
Hawk, Ray, et. al. My apologies I haven't gotten back to this scenario. However, I think it was essentially working. In the months I've been away, I discovered that I made one gross error that would have any Nevada railbuff cringing. I had the route of the Fernley & Lassen wrong. So here is the ...

Re: New scenario for testing Northern Nevada
No problem Ray, thanks for the testing you have done. I had to take a break, due to real life issues anyways. Plus, I started testing some other beta scenarios, unfortunately so many of the beta scenarios require 1.06, which excludes us mac users anyway. =-(

Re: New scenario for testing Northern Nevada
Here is rev 5, hopefully the final revision. This adds the suggestions by belbincolne. 1- several spelling fixes (I'm worthless without spellcheck) 2- Some event fixes on the newspapers 3- took out about 1/3rd of the bonus payments and made some cities smaller, just enough not to make the scenario t...

Re: New scenario for testing Northern Nevada
Thanks for the feedback. Big thanks for pointing out the error in the newspaper events, I have been chasing that ghost for weeks, amazing I didn't see the obvious cause.I'll get to work on those spelling fixes. About the Nevada Short Line (Oreana-Rochester) link, the block is intentional. When given...

Re: New scenario for testing Northern Nevada
This I believe was due to "NOT" having completed it prior to 1896. Is my assumption correct? You should have gotten $2M player cash when the SP line was completed. The check is for Truckee, CA to be connected to Montello, NV. The scenario checks to see if the line is complete by the end o...

Re: New scenario for testing Northern Nevada
Here is revision 4. This has only slight tweaks from revision 3. Revision 3 did not give credit for lines completed by buying access rather than waiting for it to be granted. Also, there is now a mechanism to earn access to WP territory for a player who is doing well and doesn't want to wait. I hope...

Re: New scenario for testing Northern Nevada
First time I refused to break link when S&P demanded I did and got booted. Second I broke it in both places (but didnt destroy all) and got booted. Could have a third try only doing central section to see what happens but then I'm not doing what previous message asked me to. The scenario checks...

Re: New scenario for testing Northern Nevada
(Following written before I'd read your latest post Moab) Got fed up with waiting to get free entry to territories so bought into two ($1m each) and connected lines 8 & 9 - the Almanac denies I've done so. I dont know what line 10 will be so cant do that. I own 90% of Company but am puzzled abo...

Re: New scenario for testing Northern Nevada
Why is it so easy for me yet seemingly hard for Ray and you? **!!!** **!!!** I believe you, I was concerned I might have made this too easy for a player skilled on the industrial side. The difference is that you built industries. I intentionally have not done so with my test runs through the scenar...

Re: New scenario for testing Northern Nevada
Ray, Thanks as always for the feedback. Here's some tips from my playing of the scenario: As the major towns are so far apart, most lines will not operate profitably until complete. When I started testing, I always ran out of money before reaching the city, with all trains operating at a loss, a hop...

Re: New scenario for testing Northern Nevada
Well Moab, I thought I may have missed something for this scenario, as I have been testing, basically playing, a few others, so didn't get back to you. Will give it a try as I see that you just posted the 3rd revision. And it is hard to compare the levels of difficulty, as I don't class myself in w...

Re: New scenario for testing Northern Nevada
I have completely redone this scenario. This is what I wanted to do in the first place, but didn't know how. I hope you like it. I had to walk a line, I might have made this too easy. The problem is the towns are so far apart, that without some "stimulus" money it's impossible, so I kept h...

Re: New scenario for testing Northern Nevada
For those who care, Playing some other scenarios, and your feedback, has given me some ideas on how to improve this scenario. I've got a significantly revised scenario, where the map is basically the same, but the rules of the scenario have been completely re-worked. I'm testing it now and will have...

Re: RT3 on a MAC
It's been several months since my last post and since that time (and publishing a few things) here is what I've learned in that time: The mac version of RT3 published by MacSoft was derived from the PC version 1.04 with the Coast to Coast expansion pack. A 1.05 patch was never released for the mac v...

Re: SCBC Review
Well unless SCBC is short for something I haven't got it so would be interested to see it! SCBC=South Central British Columbia. It's available in the Hawk's North American map archive near the end. There are no "major" cities in this scenario, Vancouver is just off the western edge of the...

Re: SCBC Review
Awesome scenario. I love how the paths for the railroad are leveled, awesome idea. However, I have played this scenario about 6 times and cannot for the life of me figure out how to get gold. I can get reliably 24 tycoon points, but that 25th has proven very elusive. Has anybody won gold? FYI, how I...

Re: New Map- conquering the Sierras
Thanks for sharing your experience. I did not manipulate the economy in this scenario. I just let the RT3 engine handle the economy. That's why the 1929 economy crash Ray was hoping for never came. =-)However, I saw a similar thing a couple of times while testing; it's almost like the AI knows you'r...

Re: New Map- conquering the Sierras
Hi I can think of a way.. dunno if it works though, you'll have to try it: Thanks Ray for the suggestion to improve, and thanks Brunom for the idea on how to implement it. It actually worked out pretty well. Also, for Ray. I did intentionally play a round without actively trying to acquire the Sout...

Re: New Map- conquering the Sierras
Ray, Thanks as always for the feedback. A couple of notes 1- You asked why the separate territory. It's solely to contain the AI (computer) player, it serves no other purpose. By default, AI players have free access to build (and IMO trash) wherever they want. I've seen two ways to contain the AI in...
