Re: Italy 1946
Just played this one, with some interest and excitement at the start (after just being on holiday in Rome for a few days!). What I was looking forward to: a) Well, Italy! !**yaaa b) The Appennines. How would I connect Bologna to Florence? (There are now three routes: the final, high-speed one is pre...

Re: Express D'Orient
Just found out something about the actual route used by this train. In the pre-WW1 era it didn't go through Romania at all. The route was Vienna > Budapest > Belgrade > Sofia > Istanbul (because you can't go back to Constantinople). So this map could be re-done to enforce that route, which would ma...

Re: so i ran it as far as i could
Truly insane and fun! I'm going to have to try this some time. I'm playing "beyond win" on Rhodes Unfinished at the moment - see what kind of multi-metropolis I can build in East Africa... What I love most is that you don't mess about building rails on land any more. Straight across the Gu...

Re: Industry Explanation and Tips!
Hi all, I believe auto consists only move freight when there is a profit. I once bought a cattle ranch not far from corn. I couldn't get any corn at that station to go to the cattle ranch because the cattle ranch was already getting corn from somewhere else! Very confused I was! Hi Moridin and welc...

Re: A Few Important Questions
Nice idea! That way, the "floaters" (maybe we could call them "wanderers" or "rovers"?) will end up stuck at the destination station: the "waiting for more cargo" caption will make them stick out clearly in the train list. The one disadvantage I can see is bec...

Re: A Few Important Questions
And for routing, I don't like routing between two neighboring cities exclusively, A-B. I like A-B-C-B or A-B-C-D-C-B. And between two chains, I'll frequently run a "jumper", So I have A-B-C-B, C-D-E-F-E-D and a duplicate basically F-E-D-C-D-E, and then I'll run a jumper from A-F. Sometime...

Re: Patched the blurry texture issue (properly)
Hi Hawk, hope you're keeping well! I tried sleepy's file. Works perfectly, thanks! Really strange that the nocd fix reduces the file size so much. I can't be bothered to copy my save-games over, so I'm starting over from GoWest. Not that I mind :-D RRT3 on a powerful machine is really something.

2. How exactly do Dividends work? They're not shown in the Income Statement in the ledger, are they paid by the company at all, and if so when? At the start of the year, at the end, constantly? As I understand it, say there are 100,000 outstanding shares in my company, at $1 dividend a share, then ...

Re: Patched the blurry texture issue (properly)
Hi everyone This looks like a great fix: thanks to TruePikachu! I need it as I've just installed RRT3 on my new spanking-fast go-faster-stripe machine (i5-8400, nVidia GTX1060 6Gb, 256Gb Samsung SSD :-D ). It'S Windows 10, so I patched up to 1.05, applied the Vista Fix and it runs like lightning. Bu...

Re: World's first solar-powered train.
Very interesting! Makes perfect sense for Australia to use some of that diamond light*. It's only a small-scale application, but imagine the future potential... On the other side of the planet, there are fields and fields of solar panels in Burgenland on the way into Vienna from Budapest (the sun th...

RRT3 with a modern mouse
I just bought a better mouse, as the previous "micro-mouse" was completely driving me nuts: I could never get the pointer in just the right place, and the pointer speed was really uneven. This was a problem everywhere in Windows. But I admit that I noticed the problem most in RRT3. Not tha...

Re: Re-ordering trains in the list
Yes, I posted about this solution to re-ordering trains before thoroughly testing it  . I think I was just so pleased that I'd figured it out that I couldn't wait! It does work.... most of the time. I only have 1.05 at the moment, so that was where my testing happened. (maybe I'll get 1....

Re: Re-ordering trains in the list
Good find on the subtraction thing. I'd been aware of the daft behaviour of the list but always just did it by guesstimation. I'll commonly use the "number greater than number of trains" trick when re-ordering them as it is easy to effectively start a new group by selectively kicking them...

Re: Re-ordering trains in the list
Good to know the finer details you discovered. I suppose you are pasting your names from a spreadsheet or text file? (If you didn't know copy/paste works in the train rename/re-position box.) No, I don't need to paste the names at all. That's the odd thing, which I didn't make clear: giving a train...

Re-ordering trains in the list
I get my geeky kicks from managing a large, complicated network in RRT3. (If I said that to my partner, she'd laugh her head off at the implication that it's possible to play RRT3 in a non-geeky way, of course ^**lylgh ). This is why I like playing campaigns beyond the win condition, and seeing how ...

Re: Station Turnaround Time depends on year
Right now I tried a situation where I set an Auto Consist using a specific cargo type with a higher number of maximum cars than were available. I set the maximum as 8, but only 3 were available. Result: took the same amount of time to load as predicted by the little table above: 23 slow-time minute...

Re: Station Turnaround Time depends on year
I gathered data on load time in 1830. Looks like this: Partial Consist Turnaround.jpg Very interesting, thanks for doing this! Anecdotally, I've noticed the same. I often use "floating" trains without a stable route, which I use to watch out for momentary opportunistic cargos. When one of...

Re: What are your favorite goals?
I noticed that no-one has ticked "average speed"! I didn't either. Just "finished" playing Orient Express again. And the 30mph average Express speed is on that map is a goal I'm just not really interested in. It's fun delivering Meat to the Munching Monks, and the Orca is a fun (...

Re: You say Cabooses - I say Cabeeses
Well, that's what it does. Seriously. ^**lylgh I never use them: except on those special trains, like the one that's been sat outside a Weapons Factory waiting for a 7-car load to take over the mountains to the one Barracks on the map in the middle of a war. (KERCHINNGGG!) But at least no...

Re: Setting up routes and cargo
Hello scubadiver, and welcome back to RRT3! There are good answers to your question already, but maybe I can add something to the conversation. You don't need the extra Chicago as no. 5 in your list, as the list "wraps round": when the train gets to Fort Wayne at step 4 (end of the list), ...
