Re: Rainy Days in British North America

... I got that cheap Dairy Farm. The tip I hope others get from that is: if there isn't a Dairy Farm seeded at game start in that vicinity, you might get an opportunity to buy a fresh one there. I didn't mean that this is something that will happen that often. Glad you snagged one in America! I am ...

Re: Rainy Days in British North America

I think there were 4 or 5 coal mines total, and all separated by long distances. On my first play-through there were plenty of coal mines, and I was able to carry many full coal-trains up to St. John's. There was also a bit of a problem with food in my 2nd play-through, but I managed to get 40 loads...

Re: Rainy Days in British North America

... The name of the EVENTS should be changes not the EVENTS themselves. Well, yeah .... I did figure this out after I didn't get the expected gold medal. I then went back to the editor & saw my dumb mistake --- would have been much better to just not mess with the editor when everything was alr...

Re: Rainy Days in British North America

Rainy Days in BNA Variables: Are inconsistant with the EVENT names. EVENT names are Co V 1, Co v 2, Co V 3 but the programmer used GV1 - GV3 . CONDITIONS should also include: Force test against Territories ----------------- EVENT: Random Weather Random rolls: Random 1 to 100 >= 1 <This test will al...

Re: Alternate USA

Tell us how you get on. I presume you switched to 1.05? Even so, I think you might find the problem is keeping profitable and therefore not losing control of your company, which I did several times. That particular hazard is even worse in 1.06, where if you're not careful you'll have 200 of your 27...

Re: Mexico

I agree that this is a tough scenario. I found it exasperatingly difficult until I decided to buy and build industries before building railroads. The area around the iron mines is good for a tool and die. Once the coal and iron mines become intermixed, steel mills really pay off. Then the products ...

Re: Rhodes Unfinished

I was doing it without bulldozing Dodoma at the start. ;-) I figure that's the pukka way to do it. Was also playing on Expert level, with steam only. I readily admit that I hadn't played RRT3 for many years, but used to be quite good at it. I have always played the scenarios at the Expert level -- ...

Re: Rhodes Unfinished

... At the start of this scenario, there seems to be no value in buying up primary producers (farms, etc). When you check these at the game start they will often be returning 15% or more of the purchase price, but once you buy them and start running the game the returns will usually drop to around ...

Not a newbie, but a long-time-no-see

Hi y'all! It's been a couple of years (or maybe a few years?) since I've visited. I had given my old boxed copies of RRT2 & RRT3 to the VietNam Vets a couple of years ago, and didn't have them installed on my relatively new computer. Bought them again last week when they went on sale on Steam. S...

Re: What Game Difficulty Level Do You Start With?

I always start on Expert, and then (sometimes) have to try-try-try again to make it work. I never give up 'til I've got the Gold. (except for "Coal Miner's Daughter," where I settled for the "Easy Gold," and never could manage to win the "Hard Gold"). -- Cliff in Virginia

Re: Changing The Game Controls

I voted "Rarely." I always play on Expert, and if I didn't want the challenge, then I guess I would play on Easy. I have never even thought of changing the player cash or start-up cash, but I think I did remove the "No Unconnected Track" stipulation once or twice. -- Cliff...

Re: Changing Player Cash

I'd be interested in hearing how other RT3 players feel about changing the player cash amount. Well, if you really wanted to you could just change all the start-up parameters so that you can win easily in just a few turns. But what would be the challenge?? **!!!** No, I've never changed the start-u...

I ordered a Railroad Game over a week ago and I was sooo excited I wanted to play it soo bad, but then I got an e-mail from the shop where I ordered it. There was an accident. My game is completely destroyed, and I probably have to wait a few weeks longer. !hairpull! **#!help (smack)))) Which Railr...

Windows 7

Seems that Microsoft has admitted that the Vista OS is a failure ["too cumbersome" is the description that has been posted around]. They've been working on Vista's replacement, called Windows 7 . According to the official Microsoft site: Over the past few years, you've asked us to make som...

Re: What Happened to RailRoad Tycoon Info Website?

So, Cliff, about those dairy farms...they are usually the most expensive farms on the game map. I often wish I could buy one but, yikes, they're too expensive at the start of a game and out of sight in cost by mid-game. The trick is to find newly-spawned dairy farms; when they first appear on the m...

Re: What Happened to RailRoad Tycoon Info Website?

Performance does not always equal value. ... It's a shame the strategygametalk.com discussion forum was closed down. I visited it fairly often to gleam strategy tidbits for RT3. There was (is) a ton of useful information in those discussion threads. I don't want to step on any toes, but that forum ...
