Re: Highly unusual locomotives

Here's probably the weirdest shunter ever used commercially... From Finland. :)

Read the article in English: http://www.elisanet.fi/~g621741/WWV/kiskok/kisko.htm

It's worth it. ;)

Re: How many trains can RRT3 really handle?

Some new info about the limits of RRT3 engine... I have now successfully tested the Great China 4 scenario (TrainMaster map) with almost 870 trains running in the end between 221 cities and countless other sites. So, technically there doesn't really seem to be a limitation to the number of trains ru...

Re: Comrade Citizen Soviet Locomotives

Russian engines are, indeed, very welcome for such scenaris as my own Great China and Northern Europe. For example, Mongolia used mainly Russian power - currently mostly unavailable in RRT3. Some essential types: M62 and its double & triple versions 2M62, 3M62 diesel (very common) TE116 and 2TE1...

Yup, playing almost every day, but only single player scenarios. Don't even know if the TrainMaster version of this supports multiplayer mode properly..?

Re: Talyllyn Railway

A lovely film - and a place to visit in the future, definitely!! A kind of similar place (without such a film, though) here in Finland is this: http://www.jokioistenmuseorautatie.fi/en/en-steamlocos.html . There you can see and ride five narrow gauge steam engines in the summertime. They are somewha...

Re: How many trains can RRT3 really handle?

It's quite possibly the sound file associated with the earthquake that causes problems on some systems. It may require a good sound card as opposed to an on-board sound chip. Personally I've never experienced problems with earthquakes. Then again, I've always had a good sound card and have never re...

Re: How many trains can RRT3 really handle?

thietavu, I've played your great "China Ultimate" using RT3 Patch 1.06 some months (years?) ago and slightly remember about "problems" concerning the big number of trains. Running 400, 500 and more trains really starts to slow down RT3 - I trapped into the same situation - also ...

How many trains can RRT3 really handle?

This has been an interesting question at least to me, since my forthcoming new Great China scenario creates a *lot* of traffic, to say the least... It would be interesting to hear people's experiences about the highest practical amount of trains running and/or possible crashes or other problems when...

Re: RT3 running on Windows 7

This is still very, very strange... RRT3 itself doesn't use that much memory. I'm testing it all the time with very likely the largest and most detailed RRT3 map ever to be designed, the "Great China 4" (final test run about to be finished this week). Some statistics: - Total Land Cells: 7...

Would be fun to have *really* long, heavy trains in RRT, though... Well, maybe in RRT4 one day. :)

Re: Southern Pacific: Oil firing-only steamers?

I suppose oil burning somewhat lowers the maintenance costs of steam engines (correct me if I'm wrong) - and the price of oil has been low in the USA compared to e.g. Europe. Just check the prices of gasoline even today... As for scrapping about all the steam engines, that seems to have happened eve...

Welcome! :) And yes, please try TrainMaster mod of RRT3 too - I think it improves the game so much that it is to me kind of a "RRT 3.5". :) It would be cool to have Sid back in this subject, but somehow I rather think that the PopTop team who designed RRT3 might be better in creating THE u...

Re: Railroad Tycoon 3 will never die!

Welcome!! :) Yes, it's been more quiet lately, but I don't believe it means that people don't play RRT3 anymore. It's an ageless simulation and it works great in many modern computers. Actually, only the very fast computers of today finally let us take RRT3 to its limits! *!*!*! I'm (yes, STILL) doi...

i finally got it working after useing the no CD crack .exe Sadly, the copy protection technologies seem to cause a lot of trouble to us legal users of programs. Even if the program/game is compatible with a new operating system, for example, chances are that the copy protection used in it isn't com...

Re: Help with graphics problem please

I think it's the annoying problem that RT3 engine has. Namely, it reads the amount of display memory wrong, if the total RAM of the computer is between 2G and 4G. I got rid of that problem by increasing my RAM to 8G. I don't know that I agree with that, or maybe it might have something to do with e...

Re: How to restore a "disappeared" company logo?

Send me the dragon logo you want to use, or if you want, I can create a selection of fictional logos that would be available in the game. The logo is already in TrainMaster's logo selection. It's just unavailable for me now, after I used it for a short moment while testing my Great China 4 scenario...
