Re: Trans-Siberian Railroad
It seems like RRT3 editor has some major problems with my W10 computer. I have managed to create a height map of Siberia and even to import it to the editor, but it's very, very tricky - trial and error. Plus occasional computer crashes. This won't be easy...

Re: Trans-Siberian Railroad
One of the remaining frontiers to the present day. An interesting map idea. !*th_up*! I believe TM is a better structure for a map with few cities because the agri communities and mining/logging enterprises fill in many areas of the commodities price map even far from cities. What do you do about s...

Re: Trans-Siberian Railroad
So is this going to be another 400 train monster? This would, I believe, be very different from Great China in several aspects. First: in GC there are 170 cities to be connected with rails. So, one can expect quite many trains are needed to make that happen in a meaningful way. In East Si...

Trans-Siberian Railroad
After the gigantic "Great China" map I'm toying with an idea of another huge map: Siberia. If I manage to get the RRT3 map creator and editor working (some problems there) under W10-64, well... who knows? The idea might be to connect Irkutsk at Lake Baikal with Magadan in... well, check it...

Re: RT3 running on Windows 10
The way I play it, TM requires more management to get industry production right. Great China is interesting because it sounds like maybe you are playing it with more of a RT3, mainly auto consists, method? Is it meant to be played that way? I always thought that if I got a free week I would play yo...

Re: RT3 running on Windows 10
I don't mind a long and complex game, but frankly I find managing any more than about 200 trains just gets to be too much of a chore, and loads the computer up too much for decent performance. I couldn't get enthused about any game that requires 400 trains, just because of the practicalities involv...

Re: RT3 running on Windows 10
Well... When you try to haul heavy freight in Sichuan province (next to Tibet) from Chengdu to Xi'an, that's one of the rare situations in Great China map when Big Boys and the other Monsters of that era are genuinely useful - at least for a while. :) What I love about that huge map is its insanity....

Re: RT3 running on Windows 10
Interesting info, indeed... Might explain why Big Boy and its siblings are so hopelessly hungry and even unreliable in Great China, although their reputation in real life was very good.

Re: RT3 running on Windows 10
Thietavu, what happened to your RT3 China game map? I have looked for it in the archives but cannot find it. I noticed that you have a TM version. Do you still have a RT3 version? I meant to make a RT3 version, but that never happened - the effort would have been just too big. It took me literally ...

Re: RT3 running on Windows 10
I finally managed to get TrainMaster (RRT3) running on W10, but it took some black magic. Had to run it once in "Safe mode, Full Screen, No sound" mode once. After that, it works just fine in full screen mode at 1600x1200. Strange. I had already lost all hope, so this is so much fun again....

Re: Anyone want double-header Shays and Fairlies?
They would look cool, but I don't see myself using them much. The scale of the average RT3 is a bit wrong for these little engines in the first place. At the average scale, most maps are smoothed enough to allow grades with an average max of around 6%. Above 6% is where I see these engines becoming...

Unusual but interesting idea... Double-QJs were also very common in China, so... But almost any double-header is interesting!

What Chinese models are there in that packet? I can't wait to run, for example, some SYs etc! :)
