Re: Release: Railroad Tycoon 3 Matchmaker (Multiplayer)
These are my real-world maps that support MP games: "Northeast Corridor" is designed specifically with multi-player in mind. Win by points, awarded annually for most passengers hauled to/from in specific locations and overall, and highest express speed. "Guatemala" - to win, con...

In my experience, even when you use the map painting tool to erase the reserve cells created when placing a city in the editor, the game will automatically restore them when you save.

Easily. You could make a scenario where it is always the same day.AdmiralHalsey wrote:Wait. So that insane speed the game makes you deal with is adjustable?

Re: Sid Meier Humble Bundle
No, I'm afraid the business aspect is as dumbed-down as it was from the start. There is no distinction between player assets and company assets. Kinda like in the original RT1, really. But the AI poses a real challenge, and sometime I find that lacking in RT3. They buy you out if you don't pay atten...

Re: Sid Meier Humble Bundle
I hated RailRoads! at the time. What really pushed me from being merely disappointed by the game to actually loathing it was the badly broken pathfinding AI, that would pile up trains when there were perfectly good paths they could have taken. In the years since its release, however, modders have cr...

Re: 1.06.01 patch: remove end dates for locos?
I prefer giving the scenario maker control over things like loco availability. Default removal of end dates messes with that.

Incidentally, the above is why I've been writing out stuff I've learned as I learned it. My aim is to make this stuff accessible, not to bamboozle and aggrevate people by leaving things half explained. It's about at the stage where I could start collating and rationalising the presentation so locom...

Re: Cargo & Industry fixes for 1.06
This is an exciting project! I am glad that there is now a critical mass of competent programmers with game design and 3D modeling competence to take this on. Remarkable, for a game this old. I especially like the project of replacing some of the warehouses with nicer models. How about replacing the...

Re: Georgia Snow Flurries
That's impressive for Georgia. Thanks for sharing the impressions. I was raised in the Chicago area. I got into Chicago on Amtrak #29 on Monday, January 6th, at the height of the "polar vortex" mess, and was stuck in the city until Wednesday Jan 8th, when I got on #5, The California Zephyr...

Profit, particularly profit per share and profit compared to book value, (Return On Investment) . It is like saying that the energy in mass can be expressed as E=m and forgetting to include the speed of light squared. RulerofRails and Stoker, you seem to make basically the same, eminently valid poi...

Re: Beware on Margin Calls
I did extensive testing on what influences stock price, and came up with the following (some of which was already discussed above, of course). There are two measures of interest: 1) book value per share (BVPS) This is the value of the company (all assets minus all debt), divided by the number of sha...

I just caught up on this discussion, and as always, I'm impressed at the level of maturity, respect, and seriousness of the contributions. This has got to be the last place on the internet where that is the case. I blame Hawk. !!howdy!! As long as it is not a "Go Nazis!" type of storyline,...

Re: Potential Scenario.
As a German, I would find it in bad taste. You can't separate the war machine from the railroad system, and you can't separate either from the mass murder.

I made it a habit of never hitting submit on a forum without previously copy-pasting my post into notepad. For when the internet cuts out, for instance.

Re: Battle for California
I created the map with a vanilla 1.05 patched to a full 1.06 (all options enabled, engines and all).
You could try branching off a new installation from your vanilla 1.05, maybe?
