Re: New map: Tunesia rrt3-1.06

I loved this scenario! Thanks so much. Really one of my favourites of all time. Extremely simple, no frills and events, but well-thought through goals that make this a complete, and complex game to play. I've one improvement suggestion: PNW is always a bit of a random goal, since it varies so much w...

Re: new map: Tazara Railroad (Tanzania-Zambia)

Hi, I played this new version, and it's both doable and enjoyable, thanks. Two little things you may want to fix: * It wasn't clear to me beforehand that track must be connected. Usually this is in the conditions in the briefing. It makes a huge difference, especially if you begin with building indu...

Re: new map: Illyrstan (fictional land)

Okay, I decided on "no more mr nice guy", gave it one last try and it worked. Gold on expert in 1949. On previous attempts, the margins on the expensive rail operations became too small too early to either make a decent profit or get the required hauls, so I decided to turn it on its head....

Re: new map: Illyrstan (fictional land)

This is a nemesis of a scenario! !hairpull! How do you guys do it?? I've been playing a couple of times now in expert and never got close to gold. (In fact failed even bronze at the last minute because the AI started dumping my companies' shares, which was fair enough since I sold every industry for...

Re: new map: Kane (fictional)

It's a great scenario, thanks. Just got gold on expert, but that may be due to my strategy of starting out with buying the new up-for-grabs milk farms. There were three close to Kane city available for $400k. They made a steady 150k profit, through boom and recession. Is this done deliberately or wa...

Re: Over the Carpathes

I wonder, however, if you played it in 1.06... It is intended to be 1.05, and you should not be able to haul at a loss. That makes attaining the goals much easier... easier than it should be. :-) B Oops! you got a point there. I'll return that gold medal  How do I play in 1.05 when i've 1.06 i...

Re: Over the Carpathes

Hi Brumon, played it and liked it a lot, thanks. No bugs or crashes to report. It's a great map, resources are nicely balanced, the territory boders and requirements for expanding are just right. I very much liked the depression of 1873. It's too early in the game to have expanded so much that you'd...

Re: West Africa - late XXth century to present times

Only thing I'd really add to Joost's comments is that railroading can be profitable provided you use trains sparsly and connect only the important towns with goods. And of course change most of the AIs trains to sensible routes when you take them over which is a pain but you only have to do it once...

Re: West Africa - late XXth century to present times

Hi There, well yes, of course. I'll have to be quick since I'm in a hurry, but a few pointers: - invest all start capital in industries in the C'dIv/Mali zone, don't run trains until profits are booming and buy as much of your own shares as you can. - Get into Benin first, I made Benin rail my pet p...

Re: West Africa - late XXth century to present times

This is a great scenario, thanks a lot. Everything works smoothly. It was very doable I guess, since I got gold in 2007, but I kept worrying until quite late in the game, which is one of the main things that makes a scenario great. You need a very flexible strategy, with a long time to prepare takeo...

Re: Snake River

thanks A LOT for this! Great scenario with great events. I played tycoon version and it wasn't too hard after all. Just invest everything in the other companies and issue stock every year. (you can even make a nice profit on the side by buying stock in your own company after issuing and sell just be...

Re: British Miracle version 3

Hi I love this scenario, but it crashes in June 1848. Am I the only one with this problem? Is there an 1848 event or loc for which a specific download is needed? (I have expansion pack and the 1.06 fix and all)
thanks a lot

Re: Ethiopia - testers needed (yet again)

Hi, thanks for this scenario. I just played and I love the idea, but I think it's a bit too easy/predictable. I don't know if you have a variable starting map, but in my case resources were very dense in some places, notable logging camps in the east that were screaming for a lumber. This earned my ...

Re: 21st century USA

Don't worry, it's not a bug or something. It's just very easy to make serious industrial profits, an aluminium mill near the Monterrey warehouses for instance, or a lumber mill in Birmingham. You don't need a lot of trains to transport surplus production and they easily make 800K+ for years and year...

Re: 21st century USA

Yeah, it has, been hauling ammo at a loss practically throughout play. But the huge (unrealistic?) profits on industries offset this. Would be a nice fix though if you can pull it off, but then you should do something about industry profits imho, else the game will become too easy.
cheers

Re: 21st century USA

Hi Optimizer, I haven't tried your new version yet, but from the previous one I'd say Texas is definitely the place to begin, that would also count for a connection to California. There's a lot of Industry possibilities there and most importantly you're connecting the chemical plants you need to pro...

Re: 21st century USA

Hi, there's a lot I like about the scenario. It takes some close reading though to understand the requirements for medals. The first time I overlooked the requirement that above bronze you need to connect Canada and Mexico with one single company. Having corrected that, now I'm stuck. I've triple ch...
