Re: what about a map for this... ?
Indeed. That's why I decided to ask. Cities can still be placed or re-placed/re-named. Rivers took a while to draw, but they are still draft (canyons need to be properly escavated, valleys made neat, etc..) And I have started research on agricultural/mineral resources on the internet. But there is s...

Re: what about a map for this... ?
Has anyone did any work on this Ethiopia map since I posted it here?
It has 2 downloads, so I'm just wondering..
I have started placing rivers and towns, and also did some research on resource location.. If anyone has looked into any of this, I'm happy to add to what I have done.

Re: Gibraltar Express: reviews/testers wanted
Hey again Added over 15 possible events to make life difficult for people without "political influence" (means people who won't connect cities). Also reviewed a few other details and played game through a few times. All seems well, but I have choice to make: Trees aren't placed yet, since ...

Re: Windows 7 grief
I have RRT3 installed on Windows 7, 64-bit. No problems whatsoever.
Just a quick statement that it is possible. And I can't really say there was some sort of trick - to what I recall it was just standard installation.

Re: Gibraltar Express: reviews/testers wanted
Government handles my health care and it's fine. No private or semi-private scheme covers for half of what the government health care covers here in Portugal and they are all much more expensive. Only folks I know who go for private health care are those who want to have their babies in posh new cli...

Re: Maps with sea floors as terrain?
Will a map in RRT3 really need 1000 different heights instead of 256... "Geologically" the Great Lakes could be drained too - that's another idea for a map/scenario... I don't think the Black Sea was ever a dry sea bed, EPH. It was irrigated plains, which got flooded after the Mediterranea...

Re: Gibraltar Express: reviews/testers wanted
Miners/drillers strike --> coal/diesel becomes more expensive, the government decides how to ration out the reduced amount of fuel --> Fuel costs are increased. Incorporated. Engine fuel cost +1, engine maintenance +15%, effects lasting for 11 months. Possibly something where larger railroads are t...

Re: Gibraltar Express: reviews/testers wanted
It's so hot outside that it's crazy to get out before 5 or 6 pm... 40 ºC and next to zero humidity! So, no worries with that.. cold beer is a good idea (already in place along with some peanuts). As for the scenario - my problem is writing up a large variety of events that can happen to a company wi...

Re: Maps with sea floors as terrain?
Might sound very basic, but you know that in Microdem you can set max and min elevation and that that can have negative values, right? If you change the height colouring to grayscale, the scale is defined based on the min and max, which can be default, equal to min and max of the map, or any set of ...

Re: map in making: Lx Suburban
Final version: ---- ATTACHMENT REMOVED ---- Reduced the gold requirement to 30 years on the job, since those last 5 years are a mere walk in the park.. Also made the socialist coup a little harder on company's finance. Removed typos. Checked events related to the bridge. Many thanks to all! Hawk, wh...

Re: Gibraltar Express: reviews/testers wanted
Been chewing on this for a little... and I have come up with a nice formula (I think). After some time of play, player looses a "political benefactor" - he had chosen one at the start. After that, his political influence is directly related to how many cities he has connected... The less c...

Re: Gibraltar Express: reviews/testers wanted
Indeed.. I see your point... I've always played connecting cities your map comes as a little surprise.. (more like having an expert showing me what matters and what doesn't, which is very cool and thanks for that) Anyway, maybe the shortest way to get to a more demanding goal is to require a certain...

Novel idea!
(I always wanted to use that smile)...
What about making more AI more expansive but demand that your company has more than 50% of the track in the map (dunno if it's programmable yet)... would call for some stock exchange playing as well...

Re: Gibraltar Express: reviews/testers wanted
Hiya folks Seems we are all here (just replied to Wolverine in the LX thread as well)! Yes, the extent of network required is huge comparing to the rest of the requirements. I found the same (my prior-to-beta-version had 10,000 miles for gold!) and have been thinking about stuff to add. Some ideas: ...

Re: map in making: Lx Suburban
Thank you Wolverine for the update on your game, detailed strategy review and typos spotting. I think a gold medal in this scenario is a pretty shiny gold medal, so extra credit for what sounds like an near-perfect game. I agree that there aren't nearly as many events in late 60's and early 70's... ...

Re: Metro area maps - especially NYC?
The LX_suburban is an attempt at what you are describing. It's in beta now, and you can look for the thread in the Reviews forum. In my own experience, you need to plant houses a lot, because the ratio industries/houses is really unbalanced for an urban area. Office buildings, retail shops and depar...
