New map for testing: Opar Peninsula (fictional)

Hey fellas Long time, no hear from me. :) Well, this hobby of creating maps lost a lot of momentum since two years ago (or so), but every now and then I still kill a little time "carving" the odd fictional mountain/valley/desert/island/etc.. The following is a fictional map, with backgroun...

Re: beta: dramarti (fictional land)

Glad you fellas liked the overall idea and the map. The map is a little larger than it needed to be and covers a diversity of landscapes, but that was the plan since the start. The way the economics and geography of the region unfolded in my mind though, a lot of the landscape is just there to be &q...

beta: dramarti (fictional land)

Well, hey ho again This might just be a short return, but I spent some time in the last weeks goofing around in the single map I had in my archives that had never been shared here (it wasn't even close to half-made when I posted the "box of unfinished goodies" some months ago), and wanted ...

Re: A treasure chest

Same as before... I am curious to know if those who downloaded these "half-made-maps" had a go at them and what were your thoughts. my version of the millefeuille is a major overhaul of the geography, keeping the same set of events, and - to my taste - it turned out really nice. this map o...

Re: Treasure chest - part 2

Been away for a while and now, having a look at this, I see there were 10/11 downloads. Has anyone had a go at these scenarios?

the north_PT one is very playable, for example

Re: Treasure chest - part 2

Oh, no, they're all works in progress - unfinished material. I'm sharing them as for other map makers to take on them, if they choose to. That's why I posted them in this part of the forum, instead of in the reviews section. Maybe I wasn't clear enough - this is material anyone can take and make the...

Treasure chest - part 2

... Hawk set a limit of 5 attachments per post - which is a fine idea! :-) But one that forces me to break the box of unfinished stuff into two smaller boxies.

A treasure chest

... another title for this thread would be "A just found box of unfinished goodies, incomplete ideas and random dead-ends" but that would have been too long. Those of you who lurk/post this forum often will recognize that I have created a few maps in the last 2 years or so. Some of them I'...

Re: Scenario Creation Problems

To add to Blackhawk's perfect answer, I'll help with the issue of counting passengers (normally called "PAX"): You should paint a small territory encompassing the city. Then, in the window where you specify access price for each territory, untick the "Borders are visible" box, an...

Seems like terrible bad luck.

Anyway, the gold in Hellia is all about the weapons, so I'm sure you'll do much better on a second attempt, knowing what to expect.

Re: Challenges in China: Great China version 3

Thievatu... :-) you're failing in the most basic rule about "not thinking like a western guy" - the rule that tells you that people are more or less the same everywhere in the world and that you should stop looking at foreign as "alien". There are numerous examples of railways in...

Re: Challenges in China: Great China version 3

if I can add my two cents on this one... Although rural China is massively populated, indeed covered with farms, it makes a lot of sense to have a high spread of agro communities. However, thievatu, you have to agree that those communities will only scarcely produce cash crops in sufficient amount t...

Re: RT3 running on Windows 7

good thing I was just here.. :D My second guess is that your zip file is corrupt. Try downloading it again. Or even better... unzip all the files to a path of your choosing and then copy them to the the game directory manually. If neither of these two solutions work, go and buy a decent computer ;-) B

Re: new map: Tazara Railroad (Tanzania-Zambia)

The map was too hard for "standard" players, such as myself and Ray, so I decided to cut back a bit in the initial make-railroad-difficult-to-maintain-in-Africa tweaks. As such, the map that I am sending to the Archives now (yep, I consider this beta stage finished now), will be a little e...

Re: new map: Naghraib

The idea didn't quite work. So I decided to wave away the requisite to be the sole survivor - it really didn't have to be. So here's the "release candidate" version, with everything programmed in. I played it a few times and seems to work fine. Give it a week or so, and if nobody finds any...

Re: RT3 running on Windows 7

Question no.1 is if you have windows 7 on a 64-bit processor, or windows 7-32 bit ? If I had to guess I'd say you're facing those problems because you have the 64-bit. If it's the case, then, assuming you installed the original rrt3 on the standard folders, windows will have put it in c:\programs (x...

Re: Greece 1857: for testing

Guys, I can't quite understand your troubles. I checked the events programming and played a trial run, everything works fine, as it should. What matters for that first VP is specific cargo being hauled into or from the port town. There's a small hidden region around the port building which encompass...

I'm glad you liked it, joost. Thanks for playing it. As for the dairies.. it is definitely unintended! As you can read in this thread, that was spotted, and should have been fixed - I must have messed up the version I uploaded for the site - will make it right and upload an improved version soon. Re: new map: Naghraib

I have an idea to solve the problem Ray, which I shall test soon, when I find the time. Basically, I want an event that will trigger as soon as you merge with someone else's company and set that player cash to nearly $0. Once I can make this work, Naghraib is a finished work, ready for archiving. Bu...
