Re: Ireland

Reporting back to say that did the trick! I actually forgot to not test against territories, but it worked just testing against on screen company and player. Annoyingly, the game doesn't test for medals until the end of the game, so by the time that came swinging around, I had double the industry pr...

Re: Ireland

You might be right BH. I was just going by memory and I should know better than that. ^**lylgh I think it's just TM which displays 0.1-0.5 as 0 and 0.6-1.0 load as 1 in the industry recipe requirements. Most other things count the tenths behind the scenes. Although lately my experience is largely o...

Re: Ireland

You're probably getting a taste of how RT3 counts. If you haul less than a full load, the game rounds that load off to the nearest full number. If you hauled 4 tenths of a load, the game rounds that off to 0. If you haul 6 tenths of a load it rounds it off to 1. You might be interested in trying th...

Ireland

Apologies if there is already a thread on this Coast to Coast expansion scenario, but I couldn't find it using the forum's search function. I've seen posts saying this map is really easy, and to be fair, it looked like it would be, but in playing it, I have come across a bug of some sort. I initiall...

Re: Mexico

This map does seem difficult to start with if you try to lay rail. If only you could start in Texas! The idea posted in Hawk's post of plonking down a tool and die near the iron mines was excellent however. I've heard this strategy being bounded about and to be honest I'm not a fan of it, purely bec...

Re: Best Game Yet

I think my favourite map of the campaign is probably the State of Germany one. I love starting in one territory and expanding to others, it appeals to my nature born of RTS games and entails expanding into massive railways. If Alternative USA weren't so ****** hard I'd love that one too! I'm looking...

Re: Japan Quakes

Sorry for digging up an old topic, but I'd thought I'd give my views on this scenario after having read through this topic and had several goes myself. I initially had much difficulty with this scenario, but once you realise not to build any track until the first earthquake has occurred, I didn't re...

Re: Coast to Coast

Well I tried it again, and started with the northern route this time, and I realised something. The need to make $50M industry profits by end game in 20 years is a requirement for only the Southern route. The Northern route simply requires you to make company profits, which makes the game much simpl...

Re: RT3 running on Windows 7

Just thought I'd comment on this topic seeing as I am running Windows 7. I got RT3 running by using the compatibility mode feature, which you can access by right clicking the icon on your desktop, clicking properties and selecting the compatibility tab. You can run the game in all versions of Window...

Re: Coast to Coast

I only had about 20 trains, but that's because I was trying to buy up industries instead of expand my rail. If I didn't need to worry about industries, or worry less, I would've covered the land in track and trains, but as it was, with my balance, I barely managed what I needed to and the game faile...

Re: Coast to Coast

Well I just played this... and failed. And yet, I connected Tampa to San Diego. I don't understand why it failed me. Maybe its because I achieved the $25mil of industrial profits needed to get the final territory open in the last month of the last year and only did the connection then. Or maybe I mi...

Re: Hello

Thanks for all your suggestions and comments! Gwizz - I did have The Second Century add-on game which had the cargo dropping feature. I remember when I used that, I did find it useful. Thing is though, on RT2, cargo was more definite, it was either there or it wasn't, so even though there was microm...

Re: Hello

I could get into it I suppose, just need to find the time. I wasn't planning on going near Trainmaster just yet, sounds too challenging for me!

It's all well and good being challenged, but there becomes a point where it starts to get tedious, at least for me. I like easy :)

Hello

Hi all I've been lurking these forums a few weeks and thought I may as well join. I am 23 and from England. I've played Railroad Tycoon on and off for years. I vaguely remember getting Railroad Tycoon 2 in my pre-teens and have played it on off for a long time, until I got Windows XP. Last year I go...
