Re: North-South Corridor
Regarding AI consists, what I've seen as the default AI setup is to run two trains, each with a minimum consist of 1 at one city or the other, and a minimum of 0 at the other city. That way, at least one train will always run back to the other city of there's no cargo to be had at the first.

Re: On Buying Win 7
For what it's worth, I found that when running installation programs in Win 7 (or any .exe for that matter), it helps if you right-click on the file and choose "Run as Administrator". I don't use my Win 7 installation much on my default computer (still in the XP-stoneage like Hawk), for a ...

Re: Poland
Early low ROI on CBV means that end of year share price draw-down is a little steeper than I anticipated. There are a couple of things you can do here. One is to pause the game at the end of December, set the Dividend to $0, sell all your company shares, unpause the game and let the new year turn. ...

We're a good and friendly bunch here as long as you don't stray into politics or religion. Some of us are pretty entrenched in our philosophies so it is best to tread lightly on these subjects.

Another tactic is to use Bonds to finance industry purchase. The trick is to make sure that your "return on investment" (ROI) is greater than the interest rate on the bond. At the beginning of almost all scenarios, you can only take out one $500k bond, usually at 10% or more interest rate....

Thanks for posting the photo. I think I know what caused the spurious text to appear in the briefing. Could you elaborate? I notice it too, but only if I use the arrow in the lower right to scroll to the next page. One of the considerations that I weigh into developing a game are the players who ar...

Re: Alaska - 1955 BETA VERSION
The event that actually gives the 50% reduction in Track/Train maintainance after connecting the military posts is set to fire once. Because it is of limited duration (-50% for one year) it needs to fire every year. I see that it's set to trigger at the beginning of each year, so if you make the con...

Although this is designed for replacement of the degraded painted map on a 64-bit system, in theory it should be applicable for replacement of any map.

Re: Refinancing bonds easier
Based on information from years ago, you save money by refinancing when you can save 2% on the interest, not 3%. I haven't confirmed this, but I think someone did the math a long time ago. I always use your "quick refinance" method when I'm doing a bulk refinance, although as you point out...

As long as you're fixing V2, please note that many of the "informational" events are out of order, for example the "about Fireboxes" and "About Valves" (see screenshot below)

So I'm playing along and at March 1964, the game freezes. The cursor moves around but on my home computer I have to do a reboot (press the reset button on the front of the computer; Control-Alt-Delete doesn't bring up Task manager). The only thing I see in the Events is the Earthquake and even if I ...

These ideas might considered in developing new cargoes for the "reworked" version (1.6.1 or 1.7, whatever you want to call it). Haven't seen much activity on this project in a while though.
