Re: A Few Important Questions
I'll watch it, theBonobo4! Yes your videos are great. I can get the Silver there, but not the Gold. I prefer playing Europe, Asia and Latin America maps BTW  . Try my Chile map, not perfect, but my best effort. My Ecuador map is terribly painted, but kinda fun, too. And for routing, I don't li...

Stimulating house spawning
Okay, I know the answer is that there are much easier ways to make piles of cash, but I've always wondered. I'm sure that building industry will make the stars bigger for a city. So then if city growth is something like "I'm set to grow at 5% per year, and I'm 79.2 now, so add about 4 throughou...

Platinum on Expert in Jan 1898, just two years to spare. Another good scenario from OC! A few false starts, but then I started as the best AI had done, and got all 777 awards, and the rewards just kept sustaining me.

Re: Opar Peninsula - BETA (Again)
This was a good challenge, and a very nice map to build on! My first attempt was rail-only, partly because resources looked a bit scarce, mostly because my attention was focused on not losing any of the allotted track. Well, after 8 or 10 years and profits still under $1M per year, I tried again. Th...

Re: new map: Kane Valley (fictional)
I'm almost tempted to think RoR is a troll, frustrating us by his example. Because, again, no, I made no headway whatsoever in my initial few starts attempting to match his self-restrictions. And then finally I just went ahead did did a lot of industry before starting rail and as others previously, ...

Nooo!!!! Let me hold onto the dream of accel 9 2-D-2's!!... Well, I guess that didn't matter, easy scenario with just a focus on early rural industry. And I had heard about fuel, but not pax prices... I guess I heard that? Most maps are easy enough I just want to see what the designer imagined and I...

Re: K's Grand Bay
Not in this scenario it doesn't, that's what I mean, imagine a 2-D-2, but with near instant acceleration! In order to give the scenario a "grander" feel, top speed was reduced so trips would take longer, but in exchange reliability and acceleration are boosted.

Gold on Expert in July 1917. A great practice map for RoR's "dump-and-pump" high freight return strategy. Develop lumber, furniture, and toys at one spot in the wilderness, clothing and alcohol at another spot, then when demand is saturated, connect to the first city and make a killing. Ri...

Re: Isola Nova
Well, I gave up on the idea of keeping my network separate and started in Basilicao and ran down to Rhion. I also gave up on the idea of buying out every company. Fairly straightforward play from there, picking up a company here and there for access rights and gradually extending the network while a...

Re: Isola Nova
Right, and any bug that can be used as an exploit, like to gain more resources, is honestly a bug I'd rather not know about, as I know I'm susceptible to the temptation to use exploits when I'm having a tough time. "What, I don't have to restart 8 times to get a great resource distribution, jus...

"PS. If you got into the detail on the other thread, that a "re-named" exe (add anything to the default name) might give more consistent overall resource counts, for the above I was using an exe called "rt3 GoG Original"." That's insane! The edited exe name appears to b...

I can't seem to get started on this one. I've avoided trying to take over any company that's already connected to other companies. I've tried from Arcan, Brep, and Briansc a couple times each, and just not building anything, really, after the first 5-6 years, aside from a massive stack of debt and ~...

I also struggled on my initial attempt, starting a company normally with $130k personal investment and $1300k investor plus $2M gift, enough money to lay track all the way from Chagyr to Chimkent. But after initially strong returns, the cost of maintenance quickly ate up my profits and I got nowhere...

I can't see anything in Events which would cause Bronze and Silver to fail to trigger... in Apri 1954, but yes oddly you get to keep playing through the year before the Game Lost notice will appear. You did connect Canberra to Brisbane, right? Through Wallangarra as intended? Also, I found an easter...

Re: 1954 Royal Tour (1.05) - now with extra disasters!
I tried this one the other day, and with only a few years to spare, I had little chance of making even bronze... !hairpull! Ouch! I'm going to have to concentrate, apparently! Well, finally got back to it and gave it my all. Aggressive but careful. My first play I tried to hold off on 13%+ bonds, th...

Re: Brazil Revisited (1.3 Final Release)
I'm just 15 years in, but I have tons of issues. So many scarce resources, overabundance of industries, most supply chains unrealistic. So I ignore all industry aside from Hotels and go all rail, hoping for express, and yes indeed, pax and mail are about 2/3 of my revenue. So many rewards for expans...

Phew! Gold on Expert in Jan 1900! Left the final 3 tunnels for the last second as I was hoping to see the 1000th load delivered, and finally in December 1899 there it is. Certainly unique challenges to be had here! The mountains create such price differentials that until you connect a particular val...

Gave this one a try yesterday. After an Expert attempt at a rail start went nowhere, and a subsequent attempt with a Lumber Mill start down by Flont failed to gain traction, I did something I rarely do, I backed down to Medium for a third stab at at. After reading comments here, I guessed that getti...

Re: Pennsylvania Electric
I'm taking this for a spin, and as RulerofRails suggests, this appears to be a rather easy, yet annoying map. I'm guessing what should be impressive is all the pre-built track, which is likely fairly accurate. I didn't tycoon the start too much, but in Feb I had a new company with enough to build a ...
