Re: Beware on Margin Calls

Any investment made by a company, whether in RT3 or real life must have a positive rate of return on investment. Not necessarily. This is clearly what's behind credit default swaps: You take out an insurance policy on an investment, manipulate things so the investment goes bad, and collect on the i...

Re: Color Saturation Problem

This is the first I had heard of this issue. I checked, and this is not happening on my rig. There are color differences between all different price cells, even when the difference is only $1. For whatever reason, most of these graphics issues seem to be related to newer Nvidia cards. For reference,...

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

At the moment I don't want to know. My 2c is we should aim to do this thing without getting into a debugging cycle with stuff none of us really understand. Locos I can do. Stoker can do cargoes, etc. Everyone else can test. Let's stick to what we're good at. (0!!0) Agreed. I think we should limit t...

Remove the custom engines and see what happens. Custom items are always the most likely thing to be causing crashes in any game. !#2bits#!

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

I have been reading around to gather up what had been already discovered in the past as far as limits on game resources and came up with this: This thread is for discussing how future add-ons to the game should work. The Problem: RT3 has a limited number of 'slots' for each of several types of resou...

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

I hear ya on the memory. It has been years since I did anything relating to modding RT3, so there is quite a layer of dust and cobwebs to brush aside to try and remember how I had done certain things. I am considering setting the feather duster aside and breaking out the leaf blower soon..... !*th_u...

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

You had mentioned in the past an affinity for the Toy Factory. Uhm :?: - I don't think that was me. I rarely utilize them myself. Me thinks ya' got me confused with someone else. Perhaps. I recall a discussion where I suggested something about wanting to re-building the Toy Factory and so...

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

Roger that, Hawk. In case you were wondering about the cargo changes, I left your favorite industry intact. :salute: "Toys" will however be reskinned as "Luxury Goods", and the Toy Factory will produce "Luxury Goods" instead of the too specific "Toys". Other n...

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

Thanks, Hawk. I was wondering where that was. The scope of what we are trying to accomplish with this patch is fairly limited compared to the complete redux proposed with RM, but the RM ideas will certainly help, especially if we proceed beyond the 1.06 patch and make a full blown Mod. I am almost r...

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

@ AH: I have over 1,000 albums of music I can hear when I play RT3 simply by clicking "Play" on my media player and does not require adding anything to the game at all. In addition to that I can hear pretty much any song ever recorded by clicking one of the thousands of internet channels. ...

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

Hey hang on, does this mean that if we add a duplicate copy (meaning same file name and type) in either PopTopExtraContent or UserExtraContent, it will override the default file of the same name that is stashed in those huge PK4's? If that works, it opens up tricks for debugging default stuff witho...

Ah. I was looking at his join date. Still, a year ago is a lot longer than I thought it was. The older I get the more I believe that the passage of time is indeed accelerating.

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

Ya, that's the one Blackhawk. I guess it was a couple years ago, not a couple months ago. !!jabber!! It sounds like he re-packed the sound into the original .PK4 after modifying it, but I am pretty sure I never did this, as I can not recall ever creating a .PK4. **!!!** Remember: Time flies like arr...

Re: Making 1.06.1: any interest?

Interesting. I was trying to brush away the cobwebs surrounding my RT3 sound fixes I had done some years ago last night, and as best as I can recall I extracted a copy of the sound .PK4 and copied the sound file, and then after modifying it placed the new version in the User Extra Content folder, le...

Re: DRG class 39 2-8-2 (or Prussian P10 if you like)

Good sleuthing , Gumboots. All of my Great-Grandparents on my father's side were Deutsch speakers from Belgium and Switzerland. My Grandparents could speak German pretty well too. I gleaned a bit of this and can pick out a word here and there when I see printed German. I know (without googling even)...
