Re: Warrington Wire - Spoiler, only read after playing !!!!!

Feel free to make other corrections if you find them. I'm correcting what I find and keeping a record which I'll let you have. And I will also read your post in full when my mind is a little less bewildered! What's confusing me at this moment is the status events concerning access to Holyhead. Ther...

Re: A few small changes.

Just by accident, and strictly in the interests of testing the game, I found out what the "big dog" is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !*th_dwn*! !*th_dwn*! !*th_dwn*!

Re: Warrington Wire - Spoiler, only read after playing !!!!!

you are a local and this should be some help for geographic accuracy corrections. I'm having a lot of fun with the Yorkshire side of the map! I worked for a while at a Sheffield steel mill, Don Valley Steel, so I've named one of my steel stations by that name and the coal mine station is Elsecar ne...

Re: Warrington Wire - Spoiler, only read after playing !!!!!

There is potential to refine the mechanism. For example above a certain percentage (say 70%) should the target increase by only 5% instead of 8? Obviously there should be a mechanism that prevents the target being larger than 100. I will fix this. I replayed that year again and now I've got a 100% ...

Re: Warrington Wire - Spoiler, only read after playing !!!!!

I need help thinking this one through - I now have a target of 99% express. This year I got, of course, 91%. If I increase massively the amount of express I haul - will that help? Or will it just put up the overall 100% ? Should I, in fact, decrease the amount of express I haul? This is presuming th...

Re: Warrington Wire - Spoiler, only read after playing !!!!!

Thanks! You said I couldn't cheat and now I'm going to do the ultimate cheat by using your game!!!!!!!!!! ^**lylgh ^**lylgh ^**lylgh I like the iron notice at the start - I think it distracts the player from the serious business of playing the stock market, which can only be a good thing. You've pic...

Re: Warrington Wire - Spoiler, only read after playing !!!!!

Yes, my daughter thinks I'm bonkers for using a spreadsheet for everything - recipes, shopping lists, you name it! A list is fine, we can just start another thread in this forum if you like, or just do it here, and each keep a copy in whatever format we like. I can let you know about things as I fin...

Re: Warrington Wire - Spoiler, only read after playing !!!!!

It's OK, before I even read your post I've found out what my simple, simple problem is. It's because the Terr count was wrong - which I knew - it was the wrong thing being counted so of course it made the calculation be wrong. I've just put that right on the test game I've got and it's working now. ...

Re: Warrington Wire - Spoiler, only read after playing !!!!!

I keep everything on a spreadsheet - if we were really with-it we could use a Google sheet to share! I know a lot of people don't like sharing things in the cloud, I'm not that keen on sharing my bank statement!!! but this I think would be OK. I share my family tree in this way. But this is weird. H...

Re: Warrington Wire - Spoiler, only read after playing !!!!!

(I would have gotten close to finalizing an update for that [SCBC] this week if I didn't get into TM stuff again....). Should I change some of the simpler things that I can change (which I am doing anyway for my own satisfaction) and let you have that revised map so you're not taking time to change...

Re: Warrington Wire - Spoiler, only read after playing !!!!!

Great, thanks! When RulerofRails sees this, I'm sure he'll be interested. Meanwhile I'll test it out on the game I'm playing now. By the way, I've come to the point where Robert Stephenson dies - so maybe the intention was to have George replaced by his son Robert (a famous railway engineer in his o...

Re: Warrington Wire - Spoiler, only read after playing !!!!!

@Gumboots, hope screenshots will help as you haven't got TM installed. Express count on status page.jpg This is what the player sees - the requirement to have a certain percentage of the total express traffic. What happens is Catch-22 - each time you meet the target it's raised for the next year. Ev...

Re: Testing Trainmaster

Last we heard of Milo he had a new girlfriend who kept him away from RT3 !!!!!!!! Probably is the father of a flourishing family by now. Thanks for the explanation, it takes a great deal of skill and understanding to explain things to non-experts in terms they can understand, without being patronisi...

Re: Warrington Wire - Spoiler, only read after playing !!!!!

Oh I didn't realise you might not experience the twist! So the industrial events were only to come in if that happened. And now I understand the "Yorkshire" refers to the effect, not the condition. No wonder my test didn't work as I was expecting it to trigger the event rather than being a...

Warrington Wire - Spoiler, only read after playing !!!!!

@RulerofRails: First, I didn't realise that you weren't the author of this scenario till I read the old threads. So now I feel less constrained in criticising, especially the schoolboy humour in some of the newspapers - which of course was more acceptable (but not much more) in 2010! Although to be ...

Re: Testing Trainmaster

If you see Gumboots' acronym "HAB", that's short for "Haul Anything But." This is a "wish-list" feature that many of us wish the game could do. So we would say that in Warrington station the train shouldn't pick-up any Iron or Steel. Or at the 20th century town with a ...

Re: How long was I in the garden?

That's it, RoR! More or less, I can't do the maths really, but it was five past eleven and then it was five to one!!! No prize, unfortunately, but you're the only person of my acquaintance who got it. That includes my grandson who just graduated today - in Maths! - from St Andrew's University! :salu...

Re: Testing Trainmaster

What a shock - I was reading through the Warrington Wire thread, as I said, and found that I had been testing it in July 2010, when my son-in-law died suddenly. That was a terrible summer and I never got back to looking at this particular scenario till now. Reading these old threads is like looking ...

Re: Testing Trainmaster - HAAL

TBH I do love the extra maths that 1.06 will handle, but I do not love the fact that the built-in HAAL option effectively invalidates haulage targets anyway. When you can choose to haul any desired cargo, in any desired amount, from any source location to any destination, regardless of prices, it b...

Moi? In the garden for 12 hours?!!! I just realised this could have happened with a few different times. I emailed my family about it at 13.10, so they had an extra clue, as they know I can't remember anything for more than a few minutes.
