Re: CTD in Coast to Coast scenario - Windows-related?

Thanks guys! Good to have your support. As the update didn't make any difference to RoR I went ahead and let the new install update itself. All is fine, no problems so it must have been something else.

Re: CTD in Coast to Coast scenario - Windows-related?

Be careful! My PC has died, I don't know why but it's obviously something to do with the update or the attempts to recover it. It's trying a system restore now.

Re: CTD in Coast to Coast scenario - Windows-related?

Well, I made the mistake of contacting Micro$oft. Three hours of my life I'll never get back! it seems to be some conflict between the update and the DirectX but they wren't able to help much.

CTD in Coast to Coast scenario - Windows-related?

I have just started to get CTDs playing Pacific NorthWest, an original Coast to Coast scenario. I have played it several times already (finding it enormously difficult) without anything like that. I recently switched to the "no=CD" version but I've played it a fair few times since then. Th...

Hi Clarko95! Good to have you out of the shadows! I chose my username (many years ago!) because I thought I would be the oldest person on the forum - it turns out mine was about the average age at that time. All of us !!jabber!! (Though I am still the only grandmother here.) I do enjoy real-life sce...

Hi JSS, good to hear from you again! Still here, off and on, as Gumboots says, now and then. I've gone back to the Coast to Coast scenarios and it's driving me bonkers !hairpull!

Re: Southern Pacific

The joke is from the old Swallows and Amazons series. The elder of the two " Amazon pirates" was christened Ruth, but her uncle told her pirates were ruthless, so she decided she wanted to be called Nancy. I remember playing that Russia scenario. It's not difficult to win, but a...

Re: Hello!

There is a "no CD patch", which allows you to play RT3 without the disc once the game is installed (it's how I run the game on my PC). That's interesting - I think I'll try that. And keep the CD safe for re-installation, of course! I lost one of my RT3 discs when I gave someone an old com...

Re: Multiple Gold events: how to get them.

Interesting idea for alternative styles of play. You would have to make the player choose at the start or perhaps the game could detect that robber baron-ness has occurred and give a suitable admonition with the new win conditions. Endless possibilities, actually, so "do you like trains, indust...

Re: Southern Pacific

But I've ended up being a ruthless (no pun intended!) robber baron! If you are going to be ruthless you should change your nick to Grandma Nancy (Arthur Ransome pirate girl joke). You've got me there! Not a fan, I'm afraid. I trained to be a teacher, which put me off most children's literature for ...

OMG, did we make the international news? We must have been the laughing-stock of the world !facepalm! I finally got Gold in the game, following your instructions up to a point. I enjoyed the slash-and-burn so much I kept on doing it! I got a controlling interest in everything. Finally I just had the...

!*00*! Wow! Were you an adviser to Kwasi Kwarteng? ^**lylgh (Sorry, British joke  ) I've never seen the technique spelled out like that before. Re: Southern Pacific

It doesn't work, anyway, because you're using up most of the track to make the connections unless you're very skilled and careful in planning your route. That's a bit too much like hard work for me! I was hoping to have some extra left at the end of the first part. The only way I can see to do it is...

Re: Hello!

If you want to get creative, you really should get a CD. They're cheap these days. :) Couldn't agree more! !!clap!! @Matthew - I don't know much about TrainMaster - I dropped out of this for quite a long while and that was when TM was created so it's really new to me too. Glad to be of some help, t...

Re: Southern Pacific

I'm now using the fixed map, which plays a lot better I must say! (There is still a little error which you can correct on your own map if you like, as I've done. "Connect Fort Stockton" event is using the wrong city, "Sanderson", so it doesn't give you the 25 track pieces it shou...
