Re: new map: Dragozain (fictional)
I guess I'll say what has been posted already 1000 times in this forum.. To control the entire production chain normally yields much more profit than having only the textile mill, or the furniture factory - even if they play the "star player" role in the chain. Also, a big debt has a big t...

Re: West Africa - late XXth century to present times
In this scenario, that win condition is really testing the number of companies. You will not win if the number of companies is bigger than one (except bronze, which doesn't test this particular condition). I can't remember testing if a liquidated company still counts as a company for this accountanc...

Re: new map: Dragozain (fictional)
Thanks for posting your dealings with it, Hawk and Ray. If I haven't said before (I'm sure I have), I'll say now that that's what I enjoy the most about creating new maps. This one is a fast-rush-for-money kind of map 8-) . It has a lot of industry opportunities and you simply can't fund expansion e...

Re: Oil
The issue, I guess, Ray.. is that we still depend on Oil... the rest are details. In perspective: - Lybia is in civil war because how rich Khadafi got... selling Oil - Darfur was fought over for so long, with thousands of dead during rebel raids, raped or simply starved to death... because of its Oi...

Re: new map: Dragozain (fictional)
Making maps has been a hobby of mine since 10 or so... you wouldn't imagine the amount of drawings I had! (It pretty much explains this hobby of mine, nowadays, of making RRT3 maps) Me and my friends had a "whole world", which I can still pretty much draw from memory, and all kinds of thin...

Re: new map: Dragozain (fictional)
There's an important background to this map, which matters nothing to anyone playing it, but that I wish to share. The original Dragozain map dates to the 1990's, when I was a teenager and played Play-by-EMail games. Dragozain was a fictional land where I based a game called Time for Treason, in whi...

Re: West Africa - late XXth century to present times
Thanks joost! (0!!0) It's one of my favorites as well, and I still play it. I've been wondering though, what makes it such a nice one. Comparing to others I created, it has more downloads and seems overall more enjoyable, so what's the "secret" in your view? (everyone else is invited to ch...

I assumed 28 of the 1500 are just "updates",
but I can also celebrate the 1528 downloads,

Re: Greece 1857: for testing
Thanks for all your comments.. I've been short on "hobby time", which means a colored version is still to get started. Some short replies to your comments: Unlike you fellas, I like the idea of having VP's awarded (or not) at a specific date. It helps the player to compare his performance ...

Re: Greece 1857: for testing
Congrats on that Ray. 11 out of 12 is nearly perfect! :-D I'm still waiting on more reviews, before I call the beta stage finished and start painting, but I am happy with the result so far. I've made a few extra changes, which will appear only in the first RC (release candidate, with the map already...

Re: Map cretions troubles
I, for one, vote on not using Map Builder. It skews the terrain a lot. Personally, I tried it, but I prefer to use real dem's and microdem nowadays. If you already used heightmaps before, you should be pretty able to do it, Lalla. Here's a step-by-step: 1. load the dem into Microdem (prior to loadin...

Re: Greece 1857: for testing
Blackhawk, you are definitely a master at this! Hawk, you're closer to the "average player", a lot like me. :-) The 1,000 cars haulage seemed impossible to me as well. My max was around 700, so I already decided to reduce this VP target. The other VP missed in my game was the 5 troops, 5 w...

Re: Map cretions troubles
Ciao Lalla (and welcome, by the way!) Is this a completely flat map?? A completely flat map is hardly "realistic", but it's your choice. Getting a height map from the Internet and "microdem'ing" it is pretty straight forward and I'd be glad to help you with that part. You can sta...

Re: Greece 1857: for testing
Actually, it's two flaws, Hawk :-) .. For that VP it should be written "before the end of 1880". The other flaw is the "missed VP" message concerning the 5 troops and 5 weapons TO Thessaly (Yes, Ray, revised version already tests "INTO IT").. The failed VP message goes ...

Re: Greece 1857: for testing
Seems you are doing fine so far.
I had the opportunity to play some extended time yesterday... Got 10/12, but that's because I designed it
(and I found one minor flaw, easily corrected, everything else looks smooth)
Good luck, mate!
