Re: Installing RT3 on Win8.1
AOL's browser is based on Internet Explorer so that would explain the problem with the AOL browser. Good to hear you were finally able to download it.

Re: Installing RT3 on Win8.1
As RoR said the 1.06 patch should be 24-25mb in size. It looks like it didn't download correctly. Most zip files should be able to be opened by Windows these days without the need of WinZip. .rar files though still would need WinRar, 7zip, or winzip. We each all have our preferences on which program...

Re: Installing RT3 on Win8.1
Good to hear you got it working. Most of us have multiple installs of the game. So you can have a 1.05 game and a 1.06 game and play any scenario that you want. Simply copy the entire directory where you installed the game and then paste that into a new directory. Call it something like RT3 - 1.06. ...

Re: Installing RT3 on Win8.1
One thing to mention, as the RT3 patch from 1.04 to 1.05 just replaces the RT3.exe file and doesn't patch any other files to the game, you can go from CtC to 1.05 with the version of the 1.05 patch that Hawk referred to on the site, without first doing the official 1.05 patch.

Re: Installing RT3 on Win8.1
I'm not sure what exactly to try. But looking at the file size, I'm not sure what those 1.05 exe files are as they are different in size than the one I have. My RT3.exe is 2.276KB. I'll zip it and attach it here. Feel free to try unzipping it and trying that .exe.

Re: Installing RT3 on Win8.1
I see you have your downloads folder up, are you trying to run something for RT3 from that folder or was that just the folder that was up in the background when you tried an RT3.exe in the RT3 folder? Did you try deleting the RT3.exe with administrative access, and then unzip the replacement RT3.exe...

Re: New Railroad Game...Overdue
Well it's not Railroad game related news, but I saw this today: https://games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged-in/-star-citizen--earns-guiness-world-record-for-insane-crowdfunding-haul-203604603.html If only someone with some design knowledge spearheaded a crowdfunding for a RT4 type game as apparently decen...

Re: Any strategies to control seeding of Municipal buildings?
As far as I know I think fixed houses would work the same as spawned houses. If you use fixed houses would you then set the city densities to 0%? That would ensure that you don't get any muni buildings you don't want, but it would also mean the city never grows. However, if you use fixed houses and ...

Re: Any strategies to control seeding of Municipal buildings?
Some of the municipal buildings appear in the industry list and can be turned off (bank, bakery, flour mill) while others like the retail store and the stadium do not show. I'm not sure why that is. There's probably some way for them to show but I don't know what it would be whether it would be edit...

Re: Installing RT3 on Win8.1
Good luck getting it all to work. It sounds like you might be need a private message (PM) from Hawk on how to fix your problem for 1.05.
If you copy the files over to another directory and patch to 1.06, the 1.06 version doesn't suffer from the no-disc issue.

Re: Any strategies to control seeding of Municipal buildings?
I don't remember there being a way to control the muni buildings and their spawns. You may be able to turn off a specific muni building for the entire map. (And then maybe able to place a couple by event if you have a specific one you want somewhere). Another option would be to start the scenario so...

Re: Train Fever - Railway Game in Development
I thought their beta, they had a random draw of a people and only a certain number of people got to be in the beta. The type of beta I mean seems to be (unfortunately) becoming more common. Like the game Planteary Annihilation. There were others but I can't remember them at the moment. They raised m...

Re: Train Fever - Railway Game in Development
Various sites seem to say different things. Like steam says Intel Core Duo. (which they must have made some sort of deal with steam because it's in the "ads" for games when you first go to the steam page.) Another review site says Core Duo, 2.4ghz. As expected I'm seeing a lot of reviews t...

Re: Train Fever - Railway Game in Development
While I reluctantly use steam at times, I can't see how it enhances your gaming experience. It has a built in chat program and that's about it. There were other programs like xfire, raptr, etc that can be used to chat while in game. It's invasive as you can't play a game and still be on steam withou...

Hawk will have to take a look at it. The procedure to make an account to download files is in this link: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3607
